Anfield welcome the European Champions back home

      https://twitter.com/TheAnfieldWrap/status/1159885871535009792

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Origi, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Milner, Keita, Mane, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Matip

Liverpool name an unchanged line-up for this evening’s Premier League opener with Norwich City at Anfield.

The Reds deploy the same XI fielded in Sunday’s Community Shield encounter against Manchester City at Wembley.

Elsewhere, Sadio Mane is named on the substitutes’ bench after returning to Melwood to begin pre-season training on Monday, while new signing Adrian is also among the subs.

Wouldn't have gone Gini, he was so poor vs City, thought Keita has looked good and deserved to start this game. Would have gone Shaq over Origi too.

Here we go again, I’d like to say I’m pumped but I’m the exact opposite, it’s 1AM here, work in seven hours ahhh xD

We’re gonna win, definitely! I’m too excited for it to not be the case! Let’s go Liverpool!

I would have played Origi too but as the centre man. For Wijnaldum is totally agree but we're playing at home ;)

I'd have gone Keita as well.

      Gomez starts as well.

Klopp might have an eye on the super cup Wednesday I expect Keita and Shaq to start that game.

      Match thread, woowho !! :)
      Agreed, strong bench.
Gomez ahead of Matip, gotta feel for Joel.
And Origi instead of Mane, guess Sadio must be a bit rusty.
Anyway, game1, Jürgen know what's he at.
Home game, looking forward to seeing us out on the grass again :)

Bummed for Matip who i feel deserves the starting job (did nothing to lose it) but Gomez is no slouch. The rest of the lineup is as expected / anticipated.

Surprised a bit on Matip and Keita...Jürgen may just want to keep steady nerves on the pitch for the first match

Have to say that bench actually looks pretty strong, maybe Klopp is right about us not really needing any transfers. COYR

I guess with Keita it could be a case of managing him carefully early on because of that injury he had over the summer.

Even though it's been one of the shortest summers without LFC competitive footy, it somehow feels like the longest...!

There's no need for 2 CB on the bench so i get why Lovren is not there. Lallana probably tweaked a muscle on his walk from the parking lot  :)

If/when Ox & Mane enter in the 2nd half, their fleet fresh legs should carve up Norwich's overmatched 11. Keita too

Mo has a prime opportunity to get a jump on Mane in this next Balloon d'Or assault

I'm not surprised about Gini starting. You people seem to forget he's like some liverpudlian footballing version of Antaeus.

As long as he has a foot on the Anfield pitch the guy is invincible.

Nah, let's go with the 5-4 thriller like last time, with Origi to score the winner in injury time and break Klopp's glasses!

Quickly checks Norwich bench. Sound, they didn't sign Heracles in the window ;D
