Who ever starts on Saturday due to the 120mins in energy sapping heat, at least the bench will be strong  ;D

Come away with 3 points and that will be a good result after the match,  the travel and conditions in Istanbul.I expect our ex Southampton players to set the pace in this match.

Play Mane, Bobby and Mo upfront and make sure they get fed the ball from midfield.
Sort that and at least one of those three will bag a couple of goals..
It's the best forward line in the league !

It's the Gomez/Trent areas that worry me slightly with that Betrand bombing down the wing whipping crosses in.

Watched their match v Burnley and they were very ordinary and capitulated once first goal went in rely on Redmond a lot for their attacks and will look to catch us on break

Redmond thats him!.. meant to say him instead of Betrand. He's decent on the break.
Always a shady team to play on their home ground.
Positive we'll have the know how to undo them..

As some folk have predicted I expect to maybe see Lallana & shaq starting, Trent will be back in too.

      Possibly Origi starting.

Salah played 120mins, expect him to be rested for at least 1st half.

      Possibly give Lovren a runout.

Be interesting, he may also just go strong, as its 7 days till next game.

Andy Lonergan in the frame to start. Quite funny in a self deprecating kind of way🙈

I can see Lallana starting this one

      Yep.
And in the nominal DM role in pre-season he did pretty well.

If you want the DM doing sliding tackles, acting s a 3rd CB, keeping it safe, recycling possession and rarely stepping out, then Lallana wouldn't be the preferred choice.

However, Lallana is an incredibly energetic player, never stops hassling and harrying, wins the ball a lot, is comfortable running with it, and has an eye for a (risky) pass.
It may be more of a risk than some would like, but he's a fine footballer.

I don't think he'll play there, but I do think he'll at least get some minutes.

If it wasn't for the 120 minutes on Wednesday, then I would have said it would be a near enough full strength team, so this is going to be tricky. I think Shaqiri, Origi should start possibly even Brewster. The midfield and at the back will be the problem. Gini deffo, lallana if fit, keita is out. Maybe one of the youngsters. Ox only played 45 so possibly him. Trent will start, possible Lovren if fit and Adrian is looking dodgy to start at the moment so deffo a changed line up but I'm sure everyone will be assessed as there's a full week's break till the next game... Tricky.

Hopefully Adrian will recover from his swollen ankle in time.

                                      Adrian

                    TAA     Matip     VVD       Robbo

                               Lallana Millie

                                    Hendo

                    Salah        Mane    big Shaq

Maximum subs used as well i think  as game management will be paramount in this one.

      2-1 (Salah, Millie pen)( Ings)

We're into the 2nd league game of the season; a tricky one away to Southampton & people are falling over themselves to make wholesale changes across the board!  It ain't happening!!  Two or three changes at the most.

I honestly don't know what some people are thinking!  This is the league, the Holy Grail, not the Carabao cup ffs!!!

I'm basing it on our players falling over with cramp on Wednesday, if they recover in time for Saturday then great, that's even better.

Why Henderson and Milner in the same team? Milner was bloody awful on Wednesday and Henderson must be knackered, along with Fabinho

I would play like that. Maybe AOC instead of Lallana. We need fresh legs.

Yes. Absolutely, along with VVD, Mane, Lovren and Clyne. But sadly Clyne is unable to complete the lineup. Get it? :D
