Southampton 1-2 Liverpool: In game and Post Match discussion
      Aug 17, 2019 02:01:06 pm

      Glorious afternoon at St Mary’s.

      Reds arrive at St Mary's...

Starting XI: Adrian, van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Milner, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Robertson, Matip, Alexander-Arnold

Subs: Lonergan, Fabinho, Gomez, Henderson, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi.

Saints XI: Gunn, Yoshida, Vestergaard, Adams, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Bertrand, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Bednarek, Valery.

Adrian has been named in Liverpool’s matchday squad for today’s game with Southampton after being passed fit.

The goalkeeper sustained an ankle injury in midweek, but has sufficiently recovered enough to be in contention for the clash at St Mary’s.

Adrian starts in goal after being passed fit for Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Southampton this afternoon.

The goalkeeper has recovered from an ankle issue to take his place in the Reds’ starting line-up at St Mary’s.

In total, Jürgen Klopp makes three changes from the team deployed in the Super Cup final in midweek, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino restored to the XI.

      Right.

Hopefully it was all precautionary and Adrian has full mobility.

Dig down deep Reds, and show your class.

Strong team chosen. No real rotation but glad to see Ox back out in midfield.

Don’t think Milner should be starting, had a mare vs Chelsea.

Hoping Robertson gets his mojo back.

He's been looking a bit leggy, and it's affecting his crossing.

COYR, that's plenty to beat Saints.

Strong side.  Shouldn't have any problems dispatching Southampton.  3-0 to the Reds. V

Dejan not even on the bench.  Surely means he's off, right?

AOC playing in the midfield is much better for him and us because he's lost on the wing.

In this case I think it means he's 4th choice and that Gomez would be the sub at center back if needed.

But he certainly might still be on his way out.

My concern with AOC isn’t his position.  I know he came off early Wednesday but we have other midfield options who haven’t recently returned from an acl.   I’d suspect we are him come off early today as well with either Shaq or Lallana depending on the situation at the half.

Good strong X1 and a good bench too, we should be winning matches like this with relative ease, without being disrespectful to Saint's, we are miles apart in terms of quality even without our strongest side,

Great to see Ox getting further game time, I think he'll be so pivotal once he's back at  his peak and dare I say unstoppable....anyhoo... can only see a convincing victory for the Redmen...and putting early pressure on Shitty,..

      1-3 Mighty Redmen

Gomez last week, Matip this week. Think Klopp is still very undecided who the best partner for Virgil is.

Only concern is the lack of prep finishing up in Turkey on Thursday am.

      60% positive of 3 points.

Matchday threads are too negative for me during the 90 minutes. See you all afterward as we discuss a Liverpool victory and various pronouncements of doom made during the action.
