You'd have thought the same when we were getting beaten by Red Star last season...
      Take nothing for granted.

Could have bet your house on us getting Napoli.

Obviously City get a nice easy group.

Taking nothing for granted, but you can compare strength in opponents and select accordingly. We WILL be rotating.

After this upcoming break we play 7 games in 21 days . Then another break and the same thing, 7 games in 21 (if we beat MK Dons). One week off and it is something like 13 games in 38 days depending on league Cup and World club Cup. Jürgen will have to use the squad and I think Genk and Salzburg are likely occasions compared to most Premier League teams

Naby did play for RB Salzburg.

Thought so. Hopefully he's fit for those games.

      Champions League stats

Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in all European competition since October 2014 (W16 D6), .........

since a 0-3 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage of the 2014-15 season.

      Don't mention that disaster.

Hope for a better performance in Naples. That was our worst display of last season.

Liverpool thrive on difficult games so I hope the easiness of the group on paper doesn't distract them.

Perfect draw given quality of opposition and geography. Tough game in Naples to start off with, if we get a win from that then the it should be a breeze from there really.

On a side note, what would be the best way to try get an away ticket to one of these games?

Not sure if any of these opponents have particularly big grounds and away allocations.  The struggle could be even worse.

That was almost the perfect away performance, 0-0 would have been deserved.

are you joking, the away match against Napoli was horrific, we barely registered a shot on their goal and whilst they scored late it was very well deserved for them as they were 100% in control of the game.

I think this season will be different and an away win there and its easy sailing.

Can't ask for much better draw than that.

Let's just hope our away form is better than last season's 3 defeats out of 3 in the group stages.

If so, should be comfortable qualification given our home form.  Win the 1st 4 matches then rest players the last 2 would be the perfect scenario.

Yea, but If I remember it was a great battling defensive performance, undone by a very late goal.

Granted the attacking play was not very good that night.

Really happy with the group, we should top it if we don't get complacent.

10 points from 6 games, that's the usual benchmark for qualifying.
I'd prefer 6 wins, but realistically, 12 points will probably win the group.

No need to wear ourselves out on group games, it's all about getting through, and we should manage that comfortably.

Napoli's 1-0 that night flattered us.  We were absolutely atrocious.  Don't think we strung more than 3 passes together for most of the game.

On the flip side we played very well against them in the home game and deserved a larger cushion in the result.

Exactly.  We lost three times in the group stages last year and won the competition.  18 points is great for the bank account but 10 points (or a dicey 9 like last year) will do the trick.

Winning the tournament has afforded us this luxury of an easier group by being in pot 1.  There's no way Genk or Salzburg are qualifying at our expense.

      Agreed.

A major part of football is about peaking at the right time.
Until the lads really hit their stride, it's about grinding out results.

Klopp is a master at this.

That's something really well understood on these boards. Posters are very understanding about thinks like conceding late goals to cut our margin of victory to two,,.or battling fatigue to eke out a.win in the 5th game in 14 days, that kind of thing.
