I only watched a bit of the game, but neither team impressed me that much, surely if we turn up then we should be winning this thing, yes?

      Not on FS1 or 2.

Agree about espanol vs. Lalas, but sometimes the Spanish-language networks have this terrible picture compression which makes everything look far away (don't know the technical jargon to explain it correctly). You are probably right about them waiting to make sure we are in it.

The final has been moved on to fs2,thank F**k cos i checked with my local pub and they don't have fox espanol.Gonna be mobbed if we get to the final.

I have changed my stance in this once since the start of November. I didnt care to much then but now I do. Iv noticed that the other Redmen in my area / at work have started to talk about it and how it will be a positive distraction to go and try to won another trophy. Another one of the list boys.

I believe the Fkamengo fans are well up for it! Singing about LFC at their last match. It’s amazing how differently this tournament is viewed when you compare Europe to South America.

This is a big competition all round the world except here in the UK. It was not started a few years ago,it’s been running since the70s or even 60s

      Different format now!

Before it was just a game between winners of European Cup and Copa Libertadores

Maybe not sporting events, but I'd guess there a few bars around American every Saturday night that have a broken bottle fight r two (they're not broken at the beginning of the fight, mind).

Used to be a few round Lime St ...... to coin a phrase ... The American Bar.
Always kicking off with bottles (and anything else that was close at hand)  in the sixties v the Bitters and Mancs.

For some reason the bottle talk reminded me of this. The late great Howard Cosell describes a great moment in British boxing history!

Fast forward to about 7:50 to see why I thought of it.

I wonder if there is a history there re American sailors. My dad was in the Navy in the 50s and apparently brawling was a main feature of port calls

I see the venue has been changed for our semifinal because the stadium didn't have its permits.

At least it's only, what, 10 days before the match?

Supposedly no ticket-holders will be impacted and the alternate venue is only 5-6 miles away.

      Doesn't inspire confidence though.

I thought it was the new stadium for the final that hasn't got it's safety cert but here's the bbc review,https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50649315.Think everyone would like to see the New Caledonian team do something. And here's the USA  schedule,https://www.livesoccertv.com/competitions/international/fifa-club-world-cup/.Now looks like the final is on over the air Fox.

My listings for that channel say college basketball, so I think this means "Somewhere" in the Fox family of channels. It shows me the final on Fox Sports 1 at 5 pm. EST (which would obviously be a replay). So who knows, but it does seem like we'll be able to watch it somewhere live.

Opening game is about to start with the host Al Sadd vs Heienghene Sport with the winner who will play Monterrey on the weekend. Stadium doesn't seem very full for host team playing but I guess semi-pro side from New Caledonia isn't going to be a big draw.

1-1 after 50 minutes in what has been scrappy game thus far.

What is capacity of the stadium?

I'm guessing Al-Sadd don't come close to filling any of the stadiums that will be used for the World Cup.

The stadium they played in is I think said holds 12k. Lucky was more than 7k it looked half full. As for the game pretty sloppy was hoping boys from New Caledonia could pull it out but they ran out of steam.

Looking forward to seeing Monterrey who just got in the finals of Mexican Apertua so should be full of confidence.

Yes, I forgot how many teams they admit into the playoffs at the end of the league season (8), it's like with American sports how they end up devaluing the regular league schedule by starting over. I still don't see the quality in the Mexican League as comparing with England.

8 out of 19 or 20 get in and Monterrey finished 8th so they just got into the playoffs. Mexican league is decent enough quality but not at level of top European league. I would think we field are second string side we should see them out if we meet them.
