To be fair Chelsea deserved something out of the game. Thought Lampards interview after the game was very frank and fair

Generally speaking there is a bit of goodwill towards Lampard. Took on a tough job ar Derby, which was a bit unexpected. This job might've come a bit to early but he looks like a motivator and come what may it's good to see a homegrown young manager given a chance.

Thought both our full backs didn't cause enough havoc down the wings today but that's cool when you consider it was away at Chelsea.
Trents side was exposed many times and we missed Robbo's runs and crosses down the left.
Good to see Captain Jordan getting stuck in and mouthing off to the ref as well as squaring up to their midfield.
Fabinho was class first half yet just seemed to fade away in the second which was probably the reason why they looked stronger in the last half hour.
All in all, the perfect result on a weekend when little Ole and blue nose Silvas' jobs are looking very wobbly. :lmao:

      Up the F***ing Reds !!

Not the best of performances, slightly fortunate with VAR. Great goal from Trent Alexander. All in all very satisfactory result.

Ach who gives a F**k, champions do what champions do sometimes and that is play f***in ugly and grind out results,
We did both today although the grinding part was only the last 20 mins,
We had a tough away leg in Naples, with the travelling et al, and another tough encounter at Fat Frank's place today, in front of all them Neanderthal F**k pigs, disguised as football fans ,

We were understandably not top of the pops today but we're still good enough for 3 very valuable points,

Pep will be gutted, make no mistake,  he would have hoped we dropped points today, hence his mauling of Watford and extending the goal difference,
Never mind Pep lad, Matalan's got a sale on,  you can go cheer yerself up with a new twinset and wear it against the toffees next week,  suck it up buttercup, you'll soon be ex= champs.

We looked shattered in that second half. Not a single one of the lads who started should be anywhere near Milton Keynes...

I ain't moaning either. We've both pointed out that some players had a bad game - both singled out Salah even.

We simply have different views on the whole.

Your views are of the perverse variety.

Excellent result. The Chavs were a bit better than I expected. I think we thought we had it in the bag and switched off (going forward) in the second half. Thought we defended pretty well, apart from Fab letting Kante go for their goal (Fab had been my MOTM until that point).

Gave Matip MOTM. Tough fixture out of the way. Not worried about Mo etc having an off day (or an off half.)

Man city score 8 goals and still got 3 points so did we!   Lets just keep hold of our 5 point lead!

Great battling win against one of the better teams in the league. The kind of win that makes the difference in a championship-winning season. Six wins out of six matches.

This coming off a tough Champions League outing midweek, and as the third match in 8 days. Now we can rotate the squad midweek and be ready for the next league match.

We've got 32 matches left in the league and some of you are going to go completely mental well before the end at this rate. Enjoy our team's success. We will do things like concede goals in the days ahead. The point is we played well enough to win.

      Regarding the subs:

      1. Milner for Mane was because Mane had a knock to his knee and a dead leg. He couldn't make the counter work and he was struggling to cover defensively. Milner was mainly there to help with the latter.

      2. Lallana for Henderson. I don't think it was because Henderson hadn't played well as he was a warrior out there for us. We were struggling to keep possession and Lallana is a much cleaner technical player. Now he struggled in the same way after coming on but I get the idea behind the sub. Keeping the ball is what we needed at that point.

      3. Gomez for Mo. Final few minutes. They were setting Alonso to cross on nearly every attack and we needed to have someone (Trent) mark him more tightly without giving up anything in the box. Standard last-minute sub for me.

I think 10-11 changes for that one is a very good possibility. The problem with that is who would play the two fullback positions.

Would have subbed Mo off much sooner in favor of Gomez (Trent was knackered), but in the end, we did just enough to win. Thought Oliver was crap and that whole time wasting card and warning Adrian was a huge joke. We are Liverpool, we don’t need to time waste in the 56th minute to win games you pud.

Overall, ecstatic that we were able to go there and take 3 points. What an amazing start.

Well get the f**k in....Love beating those Cu*ts anytime so regardless of the way we played, especially in that 2nd half, we got what we went there for and that was 3 points. Well done lads.

What I didn't understand was when Alonso came on for them. He killed us down that LH side, kept putting in cross after cross, making life very difficult for us. Why didn't Klopp block that off? Was shouting at him, way before he brought Gomez on to get Gomez on and protect that side of the pitch.

Life would have been so much easier during that 2nd half if we had a cut that avenue of attack for them, out.

Klopp knows best obviously but FFS Jürgen, take it easy on our hearts Boss!

We dodged a bullet at Chelsea but who gives a sh*te ,we got the 3 points and  that is all that matters.I thought we had Chelsea on the ropes in the first half but allowed them to come back at us in the second half.

I have watched chelski goal a few times and hendo is at bigger fault then Fab. He cut across from the side to the centre of our box but hesistated and did not put in the block and allowed that idiot kante to shoot. Said before the game we must bully this kante fecker off the park and not to allow him to slowly  creep near to our box.

Did anyone notice hendo has been slow in the last few games, could it be age is catching up? Heavy legs and puffing. We need a more dynamic midfield to provide cover.

A lot on here similar to the commentary today in their praise of Chelsea, they were good for around 30 minutes. Being good for 30 minutes doesn’t give you the right to deserve anything in football, up the reds brilliant result!

Adrian continues to keep LFC in games....well done....my MOTM

Twice this week, Napoli and now Chelsea, LFC has had stamina issues because Klopp insists on initiating his offense from RB & LB. Both TAA and Robertson are asked to cover more territory than any LFC starter yet it is typically 1 forward and 2 mids who get replaced in the second half. Robertson was a depleted shell in the final quarter vs. Napoli and Trent had no legs in the final 15 today. LFC's D is suffering at the end of these games because of the excessive responsibilities of LFC's most reliable assist men. With a midfield group incapable of creating scoring opportunities and netting goals, TAA and Robertson are being overworked.
Tough to argue with the results but the lack of subs for these two is becoming an issue. Klopp is running them into the ground.

Gomez is a capable sub for Arnold, so it's not like we don't have anyone there. For Robertson, Milner is good enough to provide cover there for the odd game, but Robbo does need to start the vast majority of games.

I believe both get rest against MK Dons so they'll have a full week to recover.

I thought we got some luck today but whether Chelsea wrestled control or we ceded it after going 2-0 up is open to debate. In any case we looked knackered towards the end. Salah and Mane in particular looked a bit off. Conversely they didn't have to be 'on' as we were 2-0 up. It was a very good result for us. Sheffield next! I know the Carabao Cup is in between and Liverpool exists to win trophies. I get round this conundrum by not considering the Carabao Cup a trophy.
