We did well at 3-3 looking back at the game because momentum was all theirs.

Luckily for us they went into their shells a bit and tried to hold a point.

Far from good enough. Think they thought they didn't have to put the effort in because of how easy the first 40mins were. Nobody stood up and took control of things to try and calm it down in the second half and very few can come away from this game knowing they played fairly decent. As for Gomez, was ready to drive him back to Charlton myself, that is by far the worst performance anyone has had for us this season IMO, from the first few minutes his head was gone; passing wayward, getting caught on the ball and then he's largely at fault for the 2nd and 3rd goals. 2nd goal he gave the foul away and was caught out of position and the 3rd goal he just couldn't give a toss, strolling and let the ball run past him.

Fair play they took their first couple of goals well but we should never have let them get into a shooting position to begin with. Call me negative but we are going to be lucky to come away from their place with a point because they are going to be up for that game more than ever now.

Don't know what's going on with the team at the moment, I know we are wining and that's the main thing but we are a performance or two away from a defeat if we carry on playing like this. We scraped past Chelsea, gave MK Dons far too many chances, made life difficult vs Sheffield United and now tonight. Thought we were in for our best performance of the season so far at 3-0, some of the play was quality and we looked like we were going to hit them for 6 or 7. Maybe it's a mentality thing at the moment? Either way, we need to start stepping these performances up and controlling the situations better in matches.

It's frustrating because we are capable of playing so much better than this, they've all proven it.

They came good in the second half, through some poor defending. Although fortunately a Salah strike sealed a win for the Reds.

They also could've easily scored 4 themselves...but they didn't..we did. They are decent going forward.Bit of pace and invention.Still should've been a lot tighter to them and a lot sharper. We drifted off after sauntering to a 3 goal lead.

They might take points off Napoli but Carlo will have noticed what they can do going forward.

Milner and Salah were big. Mily calmed a lot of the midfield play down once he came in. Salah got out of the funk and gave us a BIG 3 points.

Leicester game scares the piss out of me. They are good and we are playing poorly. We need to write the ship. Going to be hard after this intense game. Need Ali and Joel back. I'd start Mily too

All in all a very tight group, although think we should still qualify for the knockout stages, of the competition.

No doubt there mate, at 3-1 and them on the attack 3-3 seemed inevitable.

Think it did us a favour they equalised with time for us to react.

We never should have let them take the momentum mate.

The slackness spread to Adrian as well trying a dozy looking pass with a forward bearing down on him. I think we have looked a bit stale in a few games. As if we just can't get any real intensity into our game. Could be down to several in the side not getting enough rest during the close season. Salah looks like a man with a tired mind. Got 2 tonight but still looked off blob.Been clean thru a few times in recent games but doesn't seem to have his usual fizz.

Injuries can happen in these circumstances.Sure we will get a second wind and go again. Maybe needs to freshin it up a bit V Leicester.

Henderson and Gini in midfield just aren't good enough. Hendo, and I love the guy,  tonight made several errors, and Gini doesn't bring anything to the table as far as I'm concerned. Fabinho also appears to be just a yard short of pace, consequently fouls a lot as attackers go past him.

For me Gini was far better than Hendo tonight. Jordan lost the ball far too much, lost runners in midfield and looked off the pace a little.

Gini kept possession well especially in tight areas and used the ball better.

Boss admited we lost momentum and almost had to wait till they blew themselves out and once that happened we got the lead back. But that only happened because once we went 3 up several players took their foot off the peddle...and this is the Champions League and if you do that you can get stung.

He also knows the defending was poor, not from just the back 4, the whole team didn't fight enough once we lost possession.

Perhaps a bit too casual at times, especially in defence, with the opposition taking advantage. Although all in all an entertaining game,  from maybe a neutral point of view.

I thought we were even more casual in midfield, if Henderson saw nothing was on he thumped it straight back to salzburg

could be all day talking about the positives and negatives about tonight but In particular I thought gomez in particular was shaky and I really hope he can shake that ring rust and get back to what he was before that injury because he was brilliant back then, couldn’t live with the Korean striker in the first half and stepped out to play haaland offside for the 3rd goal for no reason at all because the fella who crossed it to him was basically on the touch line!

A classic case of taking the foot off the pedal and Salzburg capitalising brilliantly. Not entirely sure what Jürgen said at half time but it didn't work.
I will say that the way we responded after getting pegged back to 3-3 was brilliant and it was so important to get that win for moral.
Oh and for the first 30 mins we played some great footy.

Just back from the game and was sloppy in parts . Very complacent and they  actually look a decent side play football and some good little players. Surprised Gomez was that poor although tbf he did shine in the last 20 minutes or so. Mane still our biggest threat and Robbo certainly in first half our best players.

Just realized Salzburg have score 58 goals in 13 matches this season. Yes you read that right.  :o

The house that Virgil built last year just isn’t as solid at its foundations right now. By his own exceptional standards he’s had an average start and I say that in lieu of his motm performance at the weekend. Matip has been our rock at the back and has bailed out our number 4 on numerous occasions this year, he was a huge loss in this game IMHO.

Trent for all his brilliance in attack has become a target for opposing teams blind Freddy can see that our success last year was built on a strong defensive foundation we need to get back there ASAP.

Jürgen will be pissed I imagine with the foot being taken off the pedal and the error strewn performance of the midfield trio.
