I suppose the last few games have shown that Klopp has at least got the players believing that they are never beaten irrespective of how sh*te we may perform at times.

Something not quite right at the moment and imo it stems from midfield having zero control on the game.

Didn't get to watch, looks like way too many goals shipped (especially all in one half)...what the hell happened? From 3-0 to tied up??

Klopp explained that when Salzburg added a midfielder to stop us driving through the way we had been, our boys kept trying to play through the middle even thought the fullbacks were by far the more available outlet. We started giving the ball away and they were winning, turning and driving at our goal with some good-looking attacking players.

At 3-3, Milner came on I think to add some energy to the midfield and then Divock came in for Gini with Bobby moving back a bit similar to what we did Saturday. We started retaining the ball better at that point and created a few chances, one of which we scored through sheer persistence. On we go.

BTW, thrilling game of football that. Loved it.

Phew from coasting to bricking it to going berserk when Salah scored the 4th.

What a night of mixed emotions. So happy we didn't F**k that up and drop points. All changed for the better when Milner came on. He just took control and settled us and that's why i gave him my MOTM.

As for that 1st goal of theirs, where they took that quick free kick, the free kick happened 5 meters behind that. c**t Ref never called that one back!!!!

I only saw the first 36 minutes I'm guessing it was a comfortable 8-0 victory right guys?

Heavens above. They just had a bad game for goodness sake. Try to remember that at the end of the day, they were integral members of a side that are *checks notes*...European champions.

Oh yes i remember. Seems the boss agreed with me late on as he substituted both of them.

They are a dangerous side and are very capable of scoring plenty of goals (already have this season!).

Good job our front 3 were back "on it" after a few indifferent performances, because if they hadn't been, we're losing comfortably there.

The amount of good chances for both sides was crazy; could have finished 8-7!

They will be tough to beat at their gaff, but hopefully, we'll have qualified by the time that game comes around.

Onto our ongoing defensive issues, I've thought it for a while now; I think it is in no small part down to the absence of Alisson.  Don't get me wrong, Adrian has done pretty well since he's come in, making some crucial saves, but I believe our defence looks a lot more secure with Alisson in goals.  I believe our defenders feel more confident with him behind them and I think our opposition also fancy their chances a lot less with Brazil's no.1 in goal.

I, for one, will feel a lot happier about our defence once he returns & genuinely believe we'll look a lot less vulnerable at the back once the main man returns (hopefully for the Utd game).

Anyone share this view or am I talking bollox??!!!

Also, credit to the boss; the substitutions worked and we controlled the game a lot better in the final 20 odd minutes than we had the previous 25, with not to many scares late on.  Indeed, we should have increased the lead.

Ach it wouldn't be the same if Liverpool did things easily would it ?

A combination of us taking the foot off and them being more daring especially after their cracking first, took it well the lad,
They got more confident and exploited our weak parts,
Brilliant game as it was I think we would all be gutted had Mo not bagged that winner, still we won got ourselves in the mix proper, look forward to the next nerve wracking encounter.

Complacent at 3-0 and it very nearly cost dearly.

Yes complacent but we won and that was a good kick up the arse for future matches, at least I hope so.

It only proves one thing... we consistently deliver the right result. Regardless of how we do it. Regardless of change in personnel. Not comfortable, but it’s the result that ultimately matters.

As long as you score more goals than your opposition before the final whistle, you’ve done the job.

The rest is just differences in expectations. Big win or small win. Warning signs or it’s been coming.

Pure footballing beauty for the majority of the first half. Not sure what happened after the break, whether it was lack of effort or complacency but Salzburg certainly found buckets of space and started to play very well.

Oh well a win is all the matters and if we can find that first half form more than not we are going to batter a lot in our way.

Hopefully it's a lesson learned at a time it didn't do much damage.
Looked like it was going to be 5-6 nil until the team started to take the foot off the pedal.

Weird game controlled first half, second half never seen a defence go to pieces as we did, will have to be more oginised or we won't win

As TAA seems to attack so much, and leaves the right back position exposed,  it might be an idea to move TAA into right midfield, and put Joe Gomez as the third centre back.

So play with 3 centre backs & no right back?
