U23s & U18s will shine in this league cup game.

League Cup chances will be very slim, I think the team which will play against Villa will be even younger & less experienced than the Arsenal side & Villa Park has always been a tough place to go.

If that side does somehow manage to get past Villa, Klopp then faces the question of loyalty to the kids - we may draw Man City in the Semi Final.

Bollocks to City, I'd love Everton in the semi's (obviously providing they get past Leicester)

Play the younger team again and batter that sh*te all over Anfield, play a stronger team at Goodison ;)

Although the simple equation if you got City would be play strongest team possible and F**k with Pep's head some more.

I'm the opposite - I wouldn't mind playing the kids against City because I think Pep will rotate too as he's going to throw everything he's got at the league to try and claw the deficit back.

You've got to F***ing bladder Everton at every opportunity though so I'd play the first team against them. They haven't beaten us for nearly a decade and haven't beaten us at Anfield for over two decades - I don't want those stats to end any time soon. Plus it'll be a semi so I don't want them getting to a final and having a chance of breaking their quarter century trophy drought (they'll get twatted whoever they play in the final like, but just to be on the safe side)

Hahaha I was taking the piss a bit about playing the kids against Everton, would still be funny seeing the younger lads beating the blueshite though.

Haha yeah wouldn't put it past them like! I remember the Goodison derby a couple of years ago (Think we played City in the Champions League a few days after it) so we basically put a second string out, still didn't F***ing beat us! Think it ended up 0-0

We will be heavy underdogs in the match at Villa. It is a great experience for our young players but it will be very difficult for them to advance.

Great experience for the lads, pull this off and it will be similar to the youngish group that went to Spurs and won on pens I think in Rafa's first season.

The fringe players could play safe at villa a eek out a draw.
Is it replays, extra time and pens, or straight to pens.
I haven’t a clue. Hopefully a replay so we can batter them proper later on 😁

No replays anymore in League Cup, game is decided on the night.

Believe it is straight to pens as with the Arsenal match.

That's actually not a bad idea, play super defensive with a little bit of counter attack, and rely on set pieces or if necessary take the game to penalties, its the only chance we have of progressing because surely Villa will play their A-team or certainly very close to it.

Just checked the odds. Villa are 1/2 on and we are 6/1 against.

I think that is about right, we will be heavy under dogs but a great experience for the kids and whatever happens, they gave us some fun along the way.

M: Henderson, Wijnaldum, Jones, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Shaqiri, Milner, Keita, Elliott.
F: Firmino, Mane, Salah, Origi, Brewster,

Now pick who's playing against Villa!

The young guys picked to travel deserve it, amazing experience for them.

Mixture of u18s and rest of u23s squad for Villa.

Brewster, Elliot, Jones and Williams play a part at Villa and then flying out for this maybe?

I think somebody posted earlier that the squad had to be in Qatar a few days before so that's a non starter.

In any case, if they were going to get a game it would have been in the semi-final anyway.
