The Award is for Calendar year so it should include this season

Messi has a total of two more club goals than Mo in that period

It’s a French award at the end of the day and Messi and Ronaldo will always be up there

Lewondonski should have won it the past two years - it was shocking they cancelled it last year and it’s a disgrace he didn’t get it this year

      Aha. Calender year.

But seen as 2020 was cancelled this one was really 2 years worth.

IMO messi was still the best player on the planet.

Now going into 2022 our Mo is showing he can be the best on the planet, current form he certainly is, nobody else is scoring goals like mo.

      Last two years

      Messi - 120 in 141 games

      Lewondonski- 128 in 107 games

Messi won the cup and Copa

Lewondonski won 2 leagues , 1 cup and CL

      Cant argue with the numbers.

But messi still the best player. All round play and skills.

Lewondonski has been immense and he may well have won it, but like I say messi finally getting an international trophy has probably tipped it for him.

He hasn't been the best player in the world for about 5 years, certainly since the last WC when Modric won it. VVD should have the next year, Lewandowski last year, and probably again this year. But the "just give it to Messi" mob have lessened it's credibility. He can't run anymore, but the reality is he will win it again next year and every year until he packs it in. Lewandowski and Mo could score 150 goals each and it wouldn't make any difference.

Mo is at his peak, yet finished as the current 7th best player in the world by whoever votes for these things, just 492 points behind the winner.

Became a worthless prize years ago, it's like a vote happening within a school for something, there's cliques and only a few can win it, even on bad form.

Loved Jürgen in the press conference when asked about it

What do you think about mo only being 7th

Well it’s a journalist vote isn’t it? It’s your fault then

This award has been a joke for years. Iniesta, Ribery, Lewandowski, Salah and Virgil all having wrogly missed out on it. Messi won Copa Amercia despite being average all tournament so that seems to have won it for him, just like when Ronaldo won it for being a cheerleader with Portugal in the Euro final they won.

Seems mad having such an award decided by shithouse journo's anyway, since when have the gotten things right, they just do whatever will sell the most.

Would offf been funny if Messi had stood up and said " to paraphrase Richard Hawley..someone phone the police.
      Mo Salah has been robbed..'
