It seems that JĆ¼rgen sees more in Millie and Hendo together than the rest of us.
Type of players you might pick if you wanted to avoid defeat, but to go out and win a game ? Not for me.
Resting players like Gini Ox and Trent for a match of this significance really fucks my head in.
And playing Gomez at r back ? Heā€™s good cover when itā€™s necessary but never a first choice.
Clearly JĆ¼rgen had faith in them but I think he underestimated the opposition here. Donā€™t know how given their history against us, but clearly he either over rates a few of his players, or wasnā€™t that bothered about wining.
Cant think of any other reason for starting with that 11.
      Massive game v saltzburg now.

Pretty ordinary performance. F***ing hate Napoli.

Can't understand how JĆ¼rgen kept Mo on the pitch when he was not at his best, was screaming to get Origi on for the last 10 minutes.

Gutted! Gonna be tough in Salzburg but we will be up for it!!!

3 subs were made by then, i felt Trent should of been subbed on at half time

Any loss puts us out dude assuming that Napoli donā€™t lose to Genk

Does it? I thought it would go to countback with us and Salzburg on 10, and seeinf as we beat them 4-3, they'd have to better that result.

      May be wrong like.

Must be goals scored in the group then. In fairness if we do go out of this we can have few complaints. A few results and starting XIs that suggest we haven't really taken this group seriously. To be 3-0 with Salzburg and turn that into a 4-3 may well end up being our undoing.

Tough trip we face going there, and we have to improve our mind set. Dont want to end up in the Europa as that would be a feeble defence of the cup and even more fixture pileups.

No need to panic as it's still in our hands. We were off blob tonight, to slow in the build up, not decisive enough with our passing. To many safe percentage passes. Hard to create chances when nobody tries anything.

Bit of a worry that we haven't had a clean sheet for 11 games so the solution is simple :score more, concede less....I'm a genius..

I think a win for each regardless of the score means weā€™re tied and then it goes to goal difference. Hope Iā€™m wrong but no one has mentioned having to lose by two clear goals to go out, hope your right though!

So Fabinho isnā€™t sounding too good... this is my huge worry for us. Injuries. Anytime we make changes we just donā€™t look right. Whether it be to the front 3, or the full backs. Massive blow even if heā€™s out for just a couple of weeks.

An OK game. We dominated, they had basically one chance and made the goal, probably even a foul by Mertens on VVD. The rest is old news: Milner, Hendo and Gini are not able to create hot stuff while Ox and Keita are not defensive-trustworthy. I'd try more Lallana/Shaq in midfield, but obviously JĆ¼rgen doesn't think so. We lack a playmaker.

Going to Salzburg and not to lose will be tough. They looked mighty @Anfield. We need to treat this game like KO-stage or we might be in for a big surprise.

Any News on Fab? Is it something more serious? (Missed the first 20 minutes)

Do you fancy us to beat Salzburg, you know the team that actually knows how to win games comfortably in Europe?

You are an A grade c**t sir.

On the performance poor first half much better in the second not too concerned we are playing the mighty Austrian champions to top the group it is all still in our hands.

I'm sure in Europe it's not usually GD but rather countback that decides who goes through.

Article 17 of Champions league rules sets out the different permutations. The results between the 2 teams involved decides who goes thru. 1-0 would put us on 4 goals each and they go thru by virtue of scoring 3 at Anfield. That remains the same situation if they win by one goal...1-0, 2-1,3-2...but 4-3 and other results come into play...as we have both scored the same amount of away goals.

      So we can't lose

won't know till the swelling goes down...shudder come off straight away.Collided with their player, went down awkwardly and Thommo said it could be ligaments. Hendo central, longer run for Alex.
