So we equal our longest unbeaten run set after a 1-1 draw at Derby in 1988. The next opponent after that, was Everton. The next game after this one?

      Some things never change.

Proper lame from us, I'd say. We now know how Barca felt a couple of months ago.

No we don't. Because we didn't lose.

When do we ever get a break from Atkinson.

He's on VAR duty for the Derby...so we'll have to score 6....just to get 1..

Just watched the first half on LFC TV. Wondering if some of you along with the audio comms today were watching the same match. We score two, control play for about 35 minutes and their goalkeeper makes 4 great saves, two from Bobby, one from Mane and one from Ox at the end of a beautiful attacking move. The 10-minute period where Brighton had some joy it looked like Hendo and Gini were a bit gassed, maybe Ox a bit too. But we regained our footing.

Off to watch the 2nd half now but thought we played quite well in the 1st.

Have to say we pretty much controlled the 2nd half as well. We were not attacking with vigor but playing more for possession, so not as spectacularly entertaining, but it was working until the center backs got caught out and Alisson made that bad decision.

I guess the goal is completely legal but the referee blowing the whistle at that point is....questionable. Not Brighton's problem and fair play to their man for taking advantage.

Have to say we defended well with 10 men, and Adrian made a save when needed. Yes, he spilled one, but all's well that ends well. Adrian is a character by the way. Loved his reaction after recovering that ball (telling the whole stadium he was sorry) and also to Lallana after Adam headed one to him under pressure. Lallana was very involved in the team defending btw and I thought justified the decision to sub him in. Well done Jürgen and Adam.

So minus the big goalkeeping error and then a rather fluky goal, it was a pretty comprehensive win for us. If there's a down side it's that we didn't finish better in the 1st half when we could have put it out of reach, but as I've mentioned before, scoring goals at this level is harder than people like John Aldridge seem to remember.

So we get three more points, play well without Fabinho, see City and Chelsea both drop points (Leicester will win tomorrow) and Alisson gets a night off so Adrian can get some match practice in against one of the very worst teams in the Premiership. What's not to like?

      Up the 11-points clear Reds.

First off a big thank you to jon-jo Shelvey for the cracker of a goal he scored against City. Now for Brighton after the first half I thought we were going to hammer them, sadly that was not to be.However we got the 3 points so we should be happy for that.

Guys, what are the rules about their freekick? I always thought that the referee needs to give time to the keeper to sort his wall.

Atkinson to Lewis Dunk: They're taking too long to set up. See that gap? I'll blow the whistle and you place it into the corner. Go.

Imagine if we actually started hammering teams - we’d win the league by 25 points

Is it that important to win big? 8-0 and a scrappy 3-2 are worth the same three points. We got the job done and bagged three points. Anything else is a bonus for the comfort and anxiety of certain fans. Everybody doesn't mind winning big but when that's not always possible, the most important thing is three points. The league is first a game of points, and thereafter goal difference. When we are taking three points home every time, goal difference is irrelevant.

It's the equivalent of an umpire letting a bowler bowl whilst the batsmen is setting up, it's bloody outrageous, clearly biased refereeing. When is someone going to do something about Atkinson?

Are you in the Atkinson fan club or something, this getting a bit weird!

Give it up man, your wrong , it's not up to the ref to get ready is it, Adrian should have been set, he had yelled to the wall where he wanted it positioned, the Kunt that is Atkinson blew his whistle and Dunk took his opportunity,  we got caught out mate get over it, sh*t happens, we move on, lessons learnt,
We still won, we are still top of the f***in league,  we're still unbeaten and we're still going to be Champions, and Martin Atkinson still  is and always will be a Kunt.

Thought Adrian was a bit unlucky for the goal, what with just coming on and still getting his bearings.

Totally agree, if we win each game, we don't care about the goal difference because we do not need it.

What lesson is learned, is it that the keeper can't set the wall in future and has to stand rooted to his spot in expectation of the referee can blow his whistle at any random moment? It's nonsense and does not happen in any other sport.

Looking at the highlights it was another case of a keeper coming to Anfield and looking world class the first 30 mins we could have been 4 or 5 up.  I actually think this World Club thing could actually prove to be a great chance to get the lads away from it all and recharge mentally. I know we are playing but the intensity these lads have to play every game under must at time weigh heavy on them.
We need players like Shaq and Naby to get some positive game time and allow Jürgen to freshen things up in the new year
