Elliot and Hoever for sure are head and shoulders above the rest with the level they’re at though.

From what I've seen from the team put out they do look like the two likely prospects who'll break through to the first team.

Such a shame for these boys, the general play in possession should give them a lot of positives, but in our defensive third the inexperience shows and frankly we do now look like conceding anytime they come near our box.

The message has to be this second half is still just an opportunity for these lads and to keep going. No one's Liverpool career ends tonight, it's just an opportunity.

Hoever and Elliot have obviously impressed the most so far.

Well Villa not 4 goals better than us but it's the reality and we can't let our energy levels go. Good going forward but on the back foot  2nd best to often. Keep at it. Wide players a bit to high.

They are targeting the run off one of the CBs and it’s working nearly every time.

For what its worth, that Grabara lad we sent out on loan would have been a better option than Kelleher IMO.

We haven’t really amended the game plan to play against a senior side. Critchley should have set them up to sit deep and play on the break but we’re playing a very high line as would be the case if it was an under 23 game.

From what I've seen from the team put out they do look like the two likely prospects who'll break through to the first team.

Sometimes forget that to actually break through as a youngster it’s very difficult and very few make it so it wasn’t likely anyone else that played tonight would look as good as Elliot and Hoever.
Chirivella has been decent but he should be looking decent at 22, obviously him, Christie and Kane won’t make it with us given they are now in their 20s but I’d like to see them try and up it a gear in the 2nd half, Kane has been far too pedestrian and always looking to slow the play down...reminds me of Spearing. All 3 of them need to do more defensively and ideally not handball it too.

But it’s good to see they are trying to play in a similar style to what the first team does, stands them in good stead for if they were to get more first team opportunities. Could have sat back and defended like many teams would have done but at least we’ve had a go and can count ourselves unlucky not to have scored.

My point before KO is that its hard to see that this is fair.

Basically been hounded out of the tournament by being made to play this today.

I wonder how much both sets of fans have had to pay to watch what is basically a walk over?

The EFL should have had something in place to at least allow us to field a side that was in some way representative of the team. In the end, its their own competition that they've devalued.

Played some nice one touch football but too slow and no threat to them.
Boys against men, unlucky for 2 of the goals but can't complain about the score
Frustrating we are in this position because of the circumstances.
Oh well nothing to do but get on with it 😔

Not going to call anybody out no matter what the score. Keep the energy levels up and don't let the heads drop. We can't just charge forward now. Double up and battle it out.

Dont see much long term value in that, seeing as the point of these squads is to try and produce players for the first team of Liverpool.

I doubt theres very little work done with them at sitting deep.

Proof that you have to make the most of your chances. That’s the only thing that’s separated the teams. If I was a Villa fan I’d be pretty pissed at how close the nippers have come to scoring on a number of occasions.

The whole thing is an utter shambles. It should have been planned for before the season started. It's not exactly a big F***ing shock we've made the quarter finals is it?

Lads don't deserve this scoreline. They must be gutted in the change rooms.

Elliott is gonna be some player.

Longstaff not for me, just not up to it.

Anyway, keep you heads up lads...let's hope they take their foot of the gas and we take advantage

I know I shouldn't care as much as I do but F**k me this is pissing me off.

Why couldn't we have gone with a more balanced squad??? I get we want to win the club world cup but we could have done that without sacrificing our place in this cup.

      Ah well.

ITV 2, or Classic on ITV 3, plus there is always the Hub.

But the joke is on the EFL not trying to accommodate this game.
