Showed a lot of promise but was understandably off the pace a bit and not quite up to speed, but I think this lad will prove an inspired signing.

Not quite up to speed but let's let Jürgen get some of his philosophy and training into him and we will have an absolute gem. The man can run and chase and that's a great start! Great Energy levels, suits us perfectly.

We've had it all before with Uruguayans and lots of Fenway fans. It's no bad thing to be fair. The key is to keep them hooked long after their countryman have moved on.

Once you're hooked on LFC then it's hard to ignore, suddenly the club becomes more important than the individual theyve followed over here.

Felt sorry for the lad tonight, when he first came on in the first half he seemed to have a bit of confidence about him and looked sharp on the left-hand side. But for whatever reason Klopp didn't fancy him out there and re-shuffled things a little, which IMO nullified the threat he was showing making runs in-behind.

Regardless, happy to see him get more minutes on the pitch and think he will be a useful player for us in the coming months and hopefully years.

Tough minutes those, and not sure that was really the game for him.

As it was though, we won the game and he got some miles in the legs which is now a very good thing. It will be interesting if Klopp now sides with him or Origi for the games which Mane will now miss.

I reckon the clue will be now whether he starts against Shrewsbury or not to soon see what Jürgen is thinking for him.

Straight in at the deep end last night. Can't argue with his work rate and technically he looks decent.

One thing I will say though is I expect him to bulk up between now and next season. With the nature of the league I think he'll need to add a bit more strength to his game and Klopp likes his players to have that physical edge. Just look at Origi before Klopp came compared to now, barely recognizable.

So I expect him to put on a few pounds to help him hold off defenders like we see Salah, Mane & Firmino doing on a regular basis

I actually thought he did ok in a very very tough first game, he obviously doesn't have the understanding yet with the other players but he linked up ok'ish and could even have got a goal if Greedy Mo had passed him the ball when he was wide open.

I was not fussed but I wasn't with Fabinho and Firmino. He got slightly injured too so I'm not judging but needs to improve to claim a place in starting XI.

What is the injury. You say he picked it up during the match?

I think it was a Premiership debut to forget, looked a bit like he wasn't use to the pace and physical play in the game and never offered my of a threat on the game. Early days for him yet, I don't expect him to feature much other than off the bench this season but maybe have the league wrapped up he will get the odd start here or there given we are in the UCL.

Thought Klopp was just saying he was feeling his calves rather than any particular injury, but might have misheard.

Wouldn’t have had treatment on them if there wasn’t some sort of issue, whether that’s just a minor thing or not, he wasn’t at his best physically.

I'm not saying he's not a good signing but if he wants to be in starting XI, he needs to improve a lot.

Like Fabinho, Robertson, Gini, Ox, Henderson, Trent etc. and many before him, I have no doubt this will come with time under Klopp.
