      Would You Prefer?
      Jan 20, 2020 08:19:39 pm
At this point, it seems inevitable that we are going to end our hoodoo and win a first league title in 30 years.  The question is, how many other trophies can we secure, and how many records can we break along the way.  So, my question to you is this -- what do you consider the most important items still to play for this season?

      - Undefeated League Season
      - Highest Points Total
      - Champions League Winners
      - FA Cup Champions

For me the allure of the CL is huge, but if we were to go undefeated and set a new points total, then this side will forever be remembered as the greatest single season side in English football history.  There's a new CL winner every year, but almost never does a team go undefeated and/or break 100 points.  So I'm going to say those two would be my primary ambitions with the CL and FA Cup coming in 3rd and 4th.  Thoughts?

A treble of League, European Cup and FA Cup would be nice.

      But then again I'm a greedy c**t!

Undefeated League Season - this would be amazing, only two teams in England have done it before, although PNE played less matches when they did it.

      Champions League Winners
      - Retaining the trophy at the Ataturk (on Gerrard's 40th birthday) would be something special.

Highest Points Total - I'm not particularly bothered about this as long as we win the league, but it would be good to take a record off of City.

FA Cup Champions - Probably the least important to me personally, whilst another trophy would be great I think we should, and will, concentrate on the League first and Champions League second.

CL, to be honest I'm more or less taking the league for granted at this point, undefeated and highest points would be nice but I'm that bothered about it, same with FA cup.

That was 84 and we weren't in the FA Cup final, Everton won that beating Watford, in 77 we were going for the FA Cup, having already won the league and had the European Cup final a few days after.

Dude, I want em all. But trophies are what we count and put on the wall. To squash the hex of the Premier League and win Ol Big Ears back to back would be amazing.

However, if the European title alludes us winning the FA Cup would be crazy too. If we lift the FA Cup on May 23rd that would mean we would've won 5 different trophies within one year. The only ones we would've missed out on would be the Charity Shield and League Cup (the least of the 7) and we'd have a chance to win the Shield in August. Crazy

I dont really care about those highest points, most minutes without conceded goal, undefeated for a season kind of crap, just win the damn league. Now we all agree that CL is the biggest trophy european club could fight for so yeah, i would prefer another CL trophy in the bin, although i would not mind another FA cup trophy, we have not won it for a long time too.

No other team as far as I'm aware have done the f***in lot,

We have history of being a first of doing stuff  so why not again

And ...doing so would allow us to make the biggest cup of "Shut The F**k Up" to all the other clubs & their fans for the rest of Time.....

Cos no other club would/could surpass it,

But I'd settle for No 19 & No 7 quite happily,  that's not being too f***in greedy now is it ?

As long as we win the league I'd take the European Cup over any domestic records any day of the week.

As good as an achievement Arsenal's undefeated season was, they're not look at as an elite European club because of it, it's just an impressive footnote in history. Seven European cups would put us level with AC Milan as the joint second most successful side in the history of the competition and would put us even further ahead of United in terms of European honours.

It's the biggest prize in club football & now that the league is all but secured that's what we should be focusing our energy on

It's all about trophies at the end of the day; records set are incidental.

Better to win the league with 81 + CL than the league with 112 points undefeated for me.

If we win the league early enough, if we're still in the CL &/or FA cup, pretty sure we'll rotate heavily and likely suffer a few defeats.

Yes why the F**k not, what’s your issue with us winning silverware, particularly of the CL variety?

Jürgen signed a contract until 2024, there is absolutely no reason at all he wouldn’t extend that, and there is no reason whatsoever we will not continue to be dominant up to and beyond that point,

We have basically won the Premier League lets be honest.

It would be brilliant to stay unbeaten and also achieve 100 plus points. But come April if the title is decided mathematically and we are still in the hunt for the UCL, I would be happy to sacrifise a league game if it meant resting players to win our 7th European Cup.

This team is special but things can change quickly and while we are the best in Europe that should remain a priority also.

I'd actually take the league & a Champions League final with no guarantee of winning over an unbeaten season.

There is absolutely no better feeling than waking up early on a Saturday afternoon knowing that later that day you're team is playing in the European Cup final. The last two have been incredible, getting up, struggling to chew your breakfast due to your stomach doing somersaults over what's about to come, meeting your mates at midday for a few pints, seeing the city draped in red, singing for hours on end, the joy of seeing your team score in the biggest game in club football... And I didn't even attend either of these games, so I can only imagine what it must have been like for the people who were actually there.

That's what football's about, I wouldn't swap those occasions for any record

Everything that is being discussed here, the multiple trophies this season, the repeating as champions and maintaining this kind of form over the next 4-5 years, is all very, very difficult. In England particularly it has been hard for teams to stay on top.

To do any of those things, let alone all of them, is a very daunting task. It just is.

But with this group that Jürgen Klopp and friends have put together, grown, led, etc., it is an entirely realistic possibility. Nothing in this world stands still (except maybe United defenders) so the challenges and degree of difficulty will continue to increase, but what a joy to watch as Liverpool continue meeting those challenges. The prizes for the rest of this season and beyond aren't already done, but we have every chance to win them.

Reckon Jürgen would get knighted if we did?

I reckon him being German, he won't give a shiney sh*te about a knighthood.

A treble of League, European Cup and FA Cup would be nice.

      But then again I'm a greedy c**t!

A Pentuple of League, European Cup, FA Cup, World Champions Club Cup and Super Cup will do for me.

Whether we win the league by 30 points or +1 goal difference is no odds to me, but I am very hungry to get trophies in the cabinet.

Argument to start resting players and getting others on 10 games and therefore qualified for a league medal should we get the league wrapped up sharpish.

I think that 10 games needed for a league medal has been scrapped, remember Leicester had players on loan who ended up getting a medal at the trophy presentation against Everton.

I'd prefer the Champions league after winning which surely is as close to being in the bag as it gets.  Then the FA Cup.  I think we need to fill the that trophy cabinet where supply has been short for far too long.  Yes agree that undefeated is something which will be remembered if attached to the league through time but it will be for this season only.   I think the undefeated record is miles away yet we have 16 games left and with the way things are going we could win the league with 6,7 or even more games remaining.  And then do we prioritise just for the record or go for Europe or and FA cup.  For me Silverware is the currency of greatness.

Whilst the undefeated record is better than the Man City points tally,  I would like to beat that one more.  Because they are a plastic club that made records that any club could have with the oil money pumped into them.  I mean it could be Rotherham utd or Mk Dons or even dare I say Everton.  End of the day their history is based on the oil money without that that record does not exist.  At least with Arsenal they are proper club.  Plus with even near enough half a season to go this team is miles ahead of the invincible team in every aspect.  So a defeat might not gives the record but in every other aspect this team wins hands down.   More wins more points....etc.

Simple for me really, retain the CL and win the PL trophy, retaining the CL is a massive achievement in itself but to do it along with winning the PL F**k me, we would have to be recognised as one of the best teams in PL history for that feat.

Would love to get the unbeaten record in there to shut Arsenal fans up, not really fussed about any of the others.

Highest point total and CL winners would be fantastic. It does not matter if you get defeated because you played your B team to be European Champion again. It would make this team the best in English football history IMO. I don't mind losing an odd game this season.

      So why the sarcastic question?

Hm, number 7, you reckon we could expect no 10 before 2025 ?

Sounds as though your doubting our possibilities ! !

I didn't read that as sarcasm to be honest.

Trophies come first, so get the PL in the bag - until then, everything else is secondary imho.
Have been enjoying the CL but focusing on the PL, but if [big IF] we did manage to wrap up the PL before end of season, CL would probably then become the priority. In which case maybe Jürgen might rest guys in the PL in prep for CL games, so the league record of unbeaten games might slip, am OK with that.
      FA cup next.
Records are nice, but a means to an end, which is silverware.

I'd love to be in a third CL final in three years and retain it, sure, but I'll take an unbeaten season and FA cup double thank you very much.

Its great us fans can get completely carried away with it all safe in the knowledge there's zero chance of any complacency amongst the squad and manager. I LOVE it

In all honesty I’d be surprised if we weren’t in the Champions League final. Just can’t see anyone beating us over 2 legs.

Would be nice if was us vs Madrid in the final, with us beating the fucksticks and Mo scoring the winner, wheeling away in front of fouling shitbag Ramos...

Just read in The Athletic that Ajax 1994-95 is the only team to win its league title going undefeated while also winning the European Cup.

Never happened before or since...but it could happen this year. Tonight a big step forward to that stratospheric goal!
