      Pre-Match: Shrewsbury Town V Liverpool; FA Cup 4th Round (26/01/20 - 17:00)
      Jan 24, 2020 02:08:04 am
Focus shifts to our main domestic Cup competition and I fully expect Jürgen to make 11 changes for this one. A couple of lineup decisions to be made still, some involving fitness levels but I would could see this as our starting XI:

      GK: Adrian
D: Neco Williams, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Yasser Larouci
M: Fabinho, Lallana (if he's over the bug), Minamino
      F: Elliott, Origi, Jones

Alternatively, Pedro Chirivella could start in midfield with Takumi playing forward and Elliott starting on the bench.

If anybody  stays in the starting lineup from the Wolves match it would likely be Oxlade-Chamberlain because our first choice midfield going forward from West Ham in six days should be Fab, Gini and Hendo, plus Ox has been subbed 30 and 20 minutes early these past two games.

Great opportunity for a number of our young players, plus a chance for Matip, Lovren, Fabinho, Origi and Lallana to get some  needed minutes. The team above should be more than enough to defeat a League One side.

After the fantastic win over Neverton those yung-uns deserve another crack, So with a tweak or two I'd go thus.......

                              Adrian
         Williams   Matip  Gomez  Larouci
                             Fabinho
          Lallana(c)                  Minamino
                  Elliot    Divock    Jones

Bench: Kelleher, Trent, Ox, Chirivella/Lallana, Bobby, Mo Robbo.

If Lallana is crocked still, Pedro starts,Shrews are a bit of a unknown entity but I'm sure Jürgen will give them due diligence, only one outcome for me .

I'd be happy to see the same team as the last round vs Everton. This cup is for them young boys.

Yeah looks about right to me and then have some firepower sitting on the bench, just in case.

Comeback game for most of our players - Joel, Dejan, Fab, may be even Naby going by what Jürgen said earlier today. And a complete rest for the first 11 who have started the last couple of games, except may be Ox.

      Adrian
      Neco Matip Lovren Larouci
      Lallana Fab
      Elliott Jones Minamino
      Origi

Subs: Kelleher, Hoever, Sepp, Chirivella, Ox, Keita, Hardy?

Jürgen says Minamino might not play because he played more yesterday than expected.

He also said Naby Keita returns to training today so he could possibly be involved somehow (would expect this to be on the bench if he is).

                    Adrian
      Williams Matip Lovren Milner
      Lallana Chirivella Jones
      Elliott Origi Minamino

Wouldn't risk Fab or Keita to start imho, maybe just as subs to come on if needed/get a run.
Minamino has hardly played, so why would he not start this one after just a half and a bit at Wolves.
Jones and Elliot get another runout, looking forward to seeing them again :)
Matip and Lovren, if fit, why not start em both and rest VVD & Joe.
Free hit really, go out and enjoy it lads!!

I really do want the cup, and I was extremely pleased to see the squad get a favorable match up. The boys get more minutes and should be able to shine along a little bit more experience in Fabinho, Lovern, Matip, Kieta, etc. Ideally we win and then this game should be used as a proven ground for the next round when hopefully you can insert Mily, Mini, Shaq, and Kieta in the starting roles. My message would be go out there and win but also, vets are looking to take your spot next round, show me why I shouldn't just give it to em.

3-1 win, good guys. Elliot scores

Depending on the status of Minamino I reckon the starting line-up will be:

                                  Adrian

        Williams       Lovren      Matip      Larouchi

                                   Fabinho
                  Lallana                       Jones

         Elliott                                       Minamino
                                 Origi

If Minamino isn't good to go from the start I could see Chirivella coming in to the midfield. It should be a stronger side than faced Everton given we have some experience in the spine of the team with Adrian, Lovren, Matip, Fabinho, Lallana and Origi. Should be too much for Shrewsbury and hopefully we can push on and make a run for the double (treble would be nice!).

So Keita could be involved. Personally I’d rather we didn’t have him or Fab playing, don't know what their pitch is like but I’d imagine it’s not great so rather not see them 2 risked.

I know it’s a good chance to get game time under their belts but if the pitch isn’t good, which is often the case down in the lower leagues then it could easily result in another injury.

Unless there is something especially bad about their pitch, I think this is the perfect chance for Fabinho to get a full match in (or close to 90 minutes). Keita will have only trained twice so I don't expect him to start (he might not even be in the 18).

You mentioned Kijana Hoever before and I'd like to see him play as well, but I think he's behind the back four of Williams, Lovren, Matip and Larouci. He should be on the bench because he can play any of those four positions.

Remember that Curtis Jones is more likely to play in a front three than in midfield. Sad that Shaqiri's injury timing is once again the worst case scenario.

Finally, would love to see Divock score a goal or four in this one. He's overdue.

We can go with fringe rather than under 18s in this one. Get important minutes into the legs of Matip and Fab and maybe a cameo for Naby. Is Lovren back too?

Would like to see Minamino for this too, but if he doesnt play then perhaps that will be a clue that he will figure in the league games in the absence of Mane.

Lallana Fab and Jones in midfield with Origi, Minamino and Elliot as the front 3 would be an interesting blend.

Adrian deserves his place in goal.

I’m sure Klopp would have sorted the strong and suspect elements of Shrewsbury’s recent performances, snd will send out a mixed bunch, capable of a comfortable 2 nil win.
A few 1st choice players on the bench I suspect.

The Shrews will have more fight in them than Everton's pathetic second half show in the cup game that's for sure. Get another chance to look at Jones and Williams, both look like great prospects as does Elliott. Boss might want to get Fab back up to speed quickly. Expect a decent challenge from Shrewsbury but a 2-1..3-1 after a good contest.

Urk, has had a bad run this season. I'd probably keep him though if he could get his fitness back. He might want to get more first XI footy though...
