Hope for a full house and the chance for many first-timers to see a famous upset win for the kids.

The Shrews will moan that they were expecting a Million pound money spinner...now they'll get about £30 quid after expenses..

They were part of the discussions to lower the prices, though.

Klopp confirmed no 1st team players will be involved in replay. so our discussion re. lovren, naby, shaq etc. needing game time. Nope, theyre already booked out for holidays.  fair enough.

So its a proper u23s/u18s team.

Would it really be considered an upset if our U23 team beat a 3rd division side?

I think so considering the same team usually gets done early in the EFL trophy.

Lost 5-2 against Accrington Stanley this year.

I dont think it would go down as a famous victory but it would be a fair achievement.

If we lose though, the media will have a field day with it I think.

That's exactly what they've announced they are doing.

      No it isn't?

Part of the sales criteria is that you need to have attended the West Brom game from 2 years ago. The criteria could drop to people with no previous history but even then they'll still need to have a membership (£30) in order to buy a ticket, which they probably won't as they don't attend games. So for a newcomer an adult ticket will cost closer to £50 & a child's ticket closer to £30

There'll also be thousands of empty seats as there will people on the autocup scheme who live outside of Liverpool won't bother travelling up to watch the u23s play a midweek game, but won't cancel their ticket as they'll lose out on the credit for future sales.

Club could have done much better

Yikes, didn't know that, hopefully the razzle dazzle of playing at Anfield might put Shrewsbury off their stride , but I am not confident of this now, then again who cares, even if we win the match we then have a very tricky away tie against Chelsea where we would have to play some of the senior players.

Cooled down a bit on this now and longer I have reflected on it more I am siding with Klopp. He wanted it done on the day and with being 2 up probably thought it was until we got complacent throughout the team he tried to react but it was to late although tbf Mo could have scored late on think deep down he will be furious with the team especially some of the senior ones. Guarantee one thing if we progress he will play a stronger side and reckon start to take it a bit more seriously

It's a strong statement. You screw our fixtures, we'll screw your smaller club's ticket sharing. We are just making a stand for their screw up.

I believe ticket sharing in cups are almost 50/50. They get close to 50% of Anfield's ticket sales. Can be big for a small club.

I don't think that's the statement they're making, the game will still be very close to a sellout (how many of those who have tickets actually turn up is a different question)

They also consulted with Shrewsbury beforehand so they might be giving them a bigger cut of the purse. They'll get a massive payday regardless

I've wondered if they might make some kind of payment to Shrewsbury just to be clear that "It's not you, it's them" re grievances.
Not required certainly, but their manager made decent enough comments about Jürgen's decision. Wouldn't be an awful gesture.

To be honest, I think this is gonna bite us on the arse. Well if your an FA cup lover that is.
Can only see U18s and U23s getting bullied all over the park.
Only way we’ll best these with a team of kids is if we can turn it on like the second half v Everton.
On the evidence of the first game v these, and previous recent results, don’t think that’s gonna happen.
      Another lesson for Jürgen methinks.
Completely understand the issue with giving the first team a break .
The type of game we play, they need it more than most !

Problem is that it's still men against boys physically and in 3 or 4 seasons time a few of these lads will probably end up in league 1 and 2 even once fully physically developed.

Set pieces will be a challenge for us, and one of the centre halves we played V Everton who was physically developed has now gone back to his loan club in Germany.

I still think replays should be the same XI that played the first game, minus injuries obs. But if Jürgen wants out and it's pissing off the no mark gobshites around footy it's fine by me.

But Lovren is going to be on his jollies.

2 under 21 centre halves against league 1  bully strikers. Going to be tough cos they're going to get pinned off all the long balls up to the striker.

Here's the post you replied "that's exactly what they're doing" to

Anyone else think the club might miss a trick here.
Sell the tickets at a reduced rate and politely ask that season ticket holders and members don’t buy them.
Might give a new generation of fans their first taste of Anfield.

They're cutting prices but the ground will be full of empty seats bought by STH & members, meaning a new generation won't get a taste of Anfield.

      That's 1/3 they've followed through on  ;)
