      Pre-Match: West Ham United V Liverpool (29/01/20 - 19:45)
      Jan 27, 2020 12:56:29 pm

Back to the same team that beat both United and Wolves after that disaster in the Cup. If we can win this we go 19 clear with the game in hand played. West Ham are a mess at the moment but this was a game we dropped points in last season. Time to put that right. 0-3 to the Redmen!!!  :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6: :kop5cf8koxp6:

This should be fairly easy, I hope.

Wasn't last season and I think without Mane we may have to struggle over the line again. We are far less of a threat on the break without him, especially with Minamino finding his feet and Origis form falling off a cliff somewhat.

Anyway I'll take any win, and I'll go for 2-1.

Really hope the injury doesnt keep him out for long.

OK so lets play 2 forwards then and pack the midfield instead.

Tough game last time we came here, only ended up drawing 1-1 and I think that was with a bit of help from the referee.

Thankfully they're looking a lot worse than they were this time last year. They had the obligatory "new manager bounce" when they beat a very poor Bournemouth side 4-0 at home but they seem to have reverted back to factory settings in the last few weeks.

Should win this one comfortably but wouldn't be surprised if we made hard work of it, confident we'll get the job done nonetheless

Mane is out isn’t he ?

I guess that's the only lineup question, who replaces Sadio. Origi wasn't good yesterday, but Minamino wasn't really that sharp either. Shaqiri hasn't resumed training yet so who does that leave you with?  Curtis Jones I believe would do a job, but that would be a big call. I suppose Klopp could also go with Ox up front and then use Lallana in midfield if he's well again.

Who do you all expect to see him play up front?

Fab could come back in, which could free the ox to play further forward.

But I think if lallana is over his illness he will start.

I'd go for Origi to replace Mane, I know he had a stinker in the Cup but that's probably the first time he has really let himself down in the last 12 months. He offers more goal threat than Ox in an advanced position and Minamino looks to me like he could be a bit of a Robbo/Fabinho (in that he might need some time to really acclimatise) so i'd sit him on the bench. It's also possible that Keita could come in a for a recall, he has played in Mane's role before.

I'd start with Origi too.  Needs some game time and is still 4th choice up front.  Minamino off the bench in the last 20 mins or so.

Monday training pics on the official site and Adam does not appear to be involved. Klopp usually won't involve someone if they can't be in full training, at least not if they've been out for a while.

I think you will see Fabinho back in the middle with Hendo and Gini with Ox being forced to play wide though I wouldn't mind give Origi a run of games see what he can do. The rest of the team pretty much locked for this game.

I still find it hard to believe given before the christmas period i felt we get to the end of January with 10 point lead we would be in the driver's seat for the title. Now with a win we could be 19 point is unbelievable position to be in.

West Ham have been in a funk and I feel this could be a game where see us with professional and clinical performance.

The thought of doing one more over "The Chosen One" excites me. He's no longer at Everton and at some point, I know we should let go.

But some things never change. He's been too long at Everton and I still can't let go. Perhaps being the c**t's manager contributed to it as well.

I'd like to give defeat to him once more. It'll make my day! :lmao:

Oh you won't have to settle for once more. He's like the new Redknapp. He'll manager Watford, Palace and Fulham going forward and we can beat him with those clubs again in the coming years. This is just the next chapter, not the final one.

After that performance against mighty Shrewsbury I don't want to see Fabinho anywhere near the team until he has worked that rust off.
Same team as last time please, no need for any changes as they've all had a week off.

Klopp says Sadio Mane will be missing for West Ham and Southampton. He has a small muscle tear.

Only two games it seems, so not too bad. Klopp says he should be back after those matches.

      From the BBC -

Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp has now spoken to the media and confirmed that Senegalese forward Sadio Mane will be out of Wednesday's Premier League game.

Klopp said: "Sadio will not be involved against West Ham and probably not Southampton. After that he should be fine."

Probably sounds encouraging, he will likely miss that game too, but there does seem to be a chance.

You really expect Mane back so fast?

Tough game last time we came here, only ended up drawing 1-1 and I think that was with a bit of help from the referee.

Thankfully they're looking a lot worse than they were this time last year. They had the obligatory "new manager bounce" when they beat a very poor Bournemouth side 4-0 at home but they seem to have reverted back to factory settings in the last few weeks.

Should win this one comfortably but wouldn't be surprised if we made hard work of it, confident we'll get the job done nonetheless
Yep, i agree, this might be tougher than we expect but we will take all three points from them anyway.

      More from the BBC -

      Quote
Hammers have no points to waste - Klopp
West Ham v Liverpool (Wed, 19:45 GMT)

Now let's hear from the man himself, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp, on Wednesday's Premier League game.

"West Ham fights for staying in the league and that's what it looks like," he said. "It will be a big fight, they will fight with all they have.

"It will be a rather defensive line-up. If it's four in the back or five in the back, I don't know but both is obviously possible. They did something mixed already when it was four plus [Arthur] Masuaku man-marking [Ricardo] Pereira, I think, against Leicester.

"So there's different possibilities, but we have to be ready for a big fight. They want to strike back, they have a tough programme coming up, everybody knows that. They have no points to waste, no time to waste."

      Quote
Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp added:"It will just be a tough one, 100%. But we have to do what we have to do. We have to fight as well.

"We have to keep up, if not set the intensity level and do some smart things with possession as well. That's a big challenge.

"[They have] counter-attacking threats – [Michail] Antonio, [Manuel] Lanzini, whoever can play, I'm not 100%. It will be tough but that's what the Premier League is about."

Alf Wiedersehen...must be their new full back..no mater I can only see one result..0-2.

Like to see Origi get the gig.Did great against Everton in the league and deserves to play the next two while Mane is out.I'm also going with Mr.Nabby Keita in midfield.

Gutting that Mane misses the Hammering of the Hammers, so over to Divock to give his all and hopefully bag one or two, I thought about putting Mo out left and slotting young Elliot in on the right but I’m not sure yet he’s ready for the physicality of the Epl,
      Anyhoo,
Onwards and upwards...oh wait ..we can’t go upwards can we 😂, I think Jürgen will opt for Origi , I don’t think he minds coming in from the left and has done well from there before , ....

As much as I criticised Origi at the weekend I'd go with him as well in place of Mane as in theory and on form he gives us that direct outlet on the left.

I'd be tempted to go 4-2-3-1  as well and play Minamino on the right with Gini and Hendo in midfield.

It's on at the same time as the League Cup semi-final between Man Utd and City, there should be streams available for those with Internet access.

Can't see anything but a win for the boys tomorrow night, even though we'll miss Mane, we've got enough in the squad to carry on without him, gotta be Origi to take his place surely, although, I just feel he's so lazy at times, maybe it's cos the normal front three are so quick and 5 minutes later Origi comes strolling up, I know he's scored some really important goals but I want him to move a bit quicker, I hope if he plays tomorrow night, he proves me wrong.

Full blast from the off. Get a decent lead and take control, slow the game down except for the odd lightning counter. Going for 0:3
Clean sheet, 3 more points and 19 clear.

9 more wins. 27 more points to confirm the title. This is our game in hand which we missed for the club world tournament. One point or three points, lucky var or fluke goal, as long as we creep forward, that is all that matters.

So the question is who replaces Mane. It not easy to answer. Origi, Lallana, Keita, AOC, and Minamino are all in contention. I prefer Origi.

Its a simple call out of that lot.

Ox and Keita are better through the middle, Lallana lacks the pace out wide and Minamino needs time to get into how we play as he looks a bit lost at the moment.

      Yep, definitely.

I think teams are going to find an extra 5-10% now when they play us (especially if they're at home) because to them, being the team that "spoils the party" to an extent and becomes the first team to inflict a defeat on us will be seen as an achievement. We saw the atmosphere Wolves created last week, it was like a cup semi final to them & not a league match. Just got to make sure that we play the game & not the occasion

Perhaps Lallana and naby are not quite match fit again yet. subs probably.

      team news, from the echo...

      Quote
the big news is Sadio Mane has been ruled out so expect Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Takumi Minamino or Divock Origi start in the front three unless Jürgen Klopp alters formation.

Naby Keita could also return after being on the bench on Sunday, but Xherdan Shaqiri and James Milner are still ruled out.

No word on Adam Lallana who has missed the last couple of games through illness.

Mane's boots are big ones to fill.  Most obvious choice would be Origi as I think Minamino needs a bit of time to settle.  I'd be more up for playing him in the game at Anfield - bit less of a cauldron.

At least Mo won't have to worry about pissing Sadio off when he doesn't pass to him tonight.  Should free him up a bit to concentrate on getting the goals.

I said before the Wolves game I'd take 4 points from the next two away games (as I had them down as banana skins for different reasons) and I'm sticking with that.

I'd start with Minamino but be ready to sub on Origi if he's still not finding the tempo of the game, this game should be much more suited to him though as we should have a lot more possession than we did against Wolves.

I would play Origi as I said because his directness is needed.

I agree, if he was played through the middle but on the wings he to often goes missing.

I'd start with Minamino but be ready to sub on Origi if he's still not finding the tempo of the game, this game should be much more suited to him though as we should have a lot more possession than we did against Wolves.

Not for me he's looked a bit lost and needs a bit more time.

I would go the other way, Origi to start then Minamino if not working.

I think his defensive work is good as well.

He certainly does but cut from the left-wing onto his right will be needed.

He's brilliant doing it too, yes.

Well it sure isn't a walk in the park but shouldn't cause that much worry, it may not be pretty but thats what big teams do, win the ugly way too.

Worst case scenario, after full time tonight, we are only 16 points clear. Fully expect us to win however, have predicted 1-2 in the league.

Since Fabinho played Sunday, I was wondering if Jürgen might go Hendo, Gini and Keita, with Ox in a front three.

I much prefer Ox in midfield but Jürgen seems comfortable with him playing forward at times. Would be nice to get Naby back in  now that he's trained a few more days.

It will probably just be Ox in midfield and Divock at forward, but it's nice to have options.

Take heart man. Close your eyes and imagine Hendo and Gini taking the game by the scruff of the neck, totally flustering any attempted West Ham attacks, then Trent and Robbo serving ball after enticing ball into the area for another Liverpool win.

Barring that, shoot a beer and you'll feel better.

      I know what you mean.

but naby is a bit off, still not sure if hes fully fit, Id love it if Naby got the nod, just dont see it.

Bringing Fab back, frees hendo up which then frees the ox up.

Someone is due a real doing from us, we create so many chances we could be winning by 4 or 5 every game. lets hope tonight is one of those. :)

Always a tricky game away at West Ham.

Like the Wolves game the other week, it won't be a bad point if we draw.

Got some big injuries going forwards though at the moment.

Felipe Anderson and Yarmakenko out which are two of their better players. Snodgrass a doubt and Masuaku who's a threat at full back injured too.

With Moyes this will be a defensive line up whoever plays and he has had limited success with it against big teams in the past.

After his shocking performance at the weekend, I’d be shocked if Fab starts. Reckon it will be Origi in the front 3 and then Ox, Hendo, Gini midfield.
