Spurs none playing staff have taken pay cuts while their players continue to take home 6 figures a week.

At least it includes the directors as well including Levy - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52105337. The players will probably end up with pay cuts too, as seen in the article I posted above your post.

If it doesn’t finish by 16th July the FA will per SKy 760M in rebates. For that fact alone it will finish.

Will sky pay us rebates? I bet they wont

I agree it will be finished as well, but it does feel a million miles away right now

That is appalling, one law for the rich and one for the poor. This needs to be stamped out with immediate effect !

Whilst I agree the working class workers shouldn't have to take a pay cut whilst the players don't, the non-playing staff also include the directors so I guess they thought it would be enough.

Well, they put them on furlough, which to me makes sense to an extent because then those people get the 80% from the government and therefore still get money coming in

Can you imagine the reaction if they tried to put players on furlough?

The longer this goes on the players I imagine will start to take pay cuts or differed payments which makes sense too and something the club are contracted to them to do so.. staff that work in the canteens or wherever arent contracted the same so it makes sense they are moved to the government furlough scheme

These clubs, even with the obscene money in football still work on tighter margins than we would imagine and arent bottomless pits of money

The three divisions of England's National League have been suspended indefinitely because of coronavirus.

The competition had been originally postponed until 3 April but that has now been extended following a board meeting on Tuesday.

It comes after all non-league football in steps three to seven was ended immediately on Thursday with no promotion or relegation.

The National League said it was looking at "how best to conclude" the season.

But it is not yet known if the competition, which is made up of the National League, National League North and National League South, will also be cancelled with all results expunged.

"The National League is currently obtaining specialist legal advice, is consulting regularly with the Football Association and other stakeholders, and is committed to involving its member clubs in a pending decision on how best to conclude the 2019-20 season," a statement said.

More than 100 clubs have sent an open letter to the FA, calling for it to "urgently" reconsider the decision to expunge seasons from the men's seventh tier and the women's third tier downwards.

The decision is yet to be ratified by the FA Council.

Barrow are four points clear at the top of the National League, with fifth-tier clubs having between seven and 10 league fixtures remaining to complete the season.

Agree. It does sound weird when you first hear of a Premier League club putting employees on furlough given the amount of money in the game but as you say many of these clubs still run on tight margins and worse than that is they spend money before they even have it most of the time as well.

Not to mention that it is the taxpayer who are stepping up to pay the wages of the non-playing staff!

You would think a football club would be able to cover three months pay of their cleaners.  Certainly Premier League clubs anyway!

I'm a bit confused by this as well, surely the clubs already have the bulk of their revenes banked, ie TV and marketing rights etc, the only thing they miss out on at the moment is match day receipts.

Anyway I still think the league will be resumed mid to late May, I think its way to much of an over reaction to cancel all sport long term, get proper testing in place and play behind closed doors once this lockdown eases up.

The tennis being cancelled is the one that baffles me, along with golf, I mean if there are 2 sports I would have thought were fairly safe then its those two. Yes I know you need officials etc but even so it must be possible to do that safely.

Exactly. And Branson can F**k off too. How much money does one man need? Pay your staff out of your own billions.

I believe they get their money in sections through the season rather than in a big chunk. So it wont all have been paid.

Your timescale has moved back 5 or 6 weeks I see? I still think you're another 6-8 weeks out though

Best one I’ve read yet. A daily mail football writer (I know) says the season must start again because...... “when all this is over, people will love the idea of something fresh” ....... I mean.....

Seeing most of the other countries clubs agreeing to wage cuts to pay their non playing staff and some of ours now creeping onto the furlough scheme before even considering player wage cuts, it’s got me feeling ashamed of our league.

Honestly if it was up to me I would resume games as soon as possible, but the missing piece at the moment is testing and this seems to be delayed continuously, the UK's efforts in this regard are quite pathetic.

I still think the world is over reacting to this, but I do agree with the current lockdown measures. I do not agree with cancelling things like Wimbledon which are still 3 months away, that seems silly to me, worst case play that behind closed doors.

greedy fuckers, if all the clubs do this together then what exactly would the players do about it?

Do you still not see why it's not sensible to restart football? Even behind closed doors?

      Same as transfers.

People think they get it all in one lump, but that doesn't happen often.
It's almost always spread over a few years, and amortized.

No I don't, if bin men can work and people in shops etc etc then I see no reason why footballers can't do their job, the key, as always, is testing.
