Up to 4,000 spectators in Tier 1 areas.

Up to 2,000 spectators in Tier 2 areas.

Seems a little bit peculiar in that surely you could fit more in Anfield than at Tranmere but at least it's a start.

Be interesting to see what tier Liverpool go into now.   If it was just on number of cases then you could argue they would have a good chance of Tier 1 as cases have been falling for about 8 weeks now.  However, the problem might be that the hospital situation is a bit more saturated than other areas so that might go against it.

Also not sure what it means about people travelling from higher risk areas.  Assume that won't be allowed.

Was looking for this as well. I would have thought away supporters at the ground would come some time later, not straight away....hey?

I noticed it was 4000/2000 or 50 percent, whichever was smaller. That part I guess is for non-league grounds and such.

For American football, after several weeks I'm starting to notice some atmosphere returning. At first it was like people were sitting on their hands, not sure if they were to make any noise or not.  Interested to see what 2 or 4000 in Anfield, distanced and scattered throughout the ground will sound like.

I went to an auto race here in September, reduced capacity, and at first stewards tried to keep people from congregating, but eventually gave up on that. Interested to see how this is policed at football grounds.

150k cases per week, 2k deaths, and they think it's safe to reopen stadiums? France, Italy, and Germany tried similiar before. It didn't last long.

Granted, only a couple of thousand locals will be able to attend, and if they're all stuck in masks there will be no atmosphere. But let's see how long the UK Government can keep stadiums open in the current situation, during the flu season.

It's a step in the right direction but not big on the idea of some clubs getting to have some fans and some not.

Apparently masks will be encouraged not mandatory with it being an outdoors event.

Newcastle outbreak in double digits prompts first EPL CoVid postponement. Over here it's playing havoc with various sport schedules, especially school sports.

Sadly I think this could be the beginning. City played Newcastle on Boxing day, before that they played Arsenal, a tier 4 area, where the new variant is very prevalent. City have closed their training ground so they are obviously very concerned! We play Newcastle tomorrow, who knows if that will go ahead! Can only be a matter of time, unless things improve drastically!

Did the premier league come up with an agreement on what would happen if the season couldn’t continue?
      Voided? Average points per game?

I had a quick look and couldn’t find anything conclusive but apparently in October premier league clubs agreed on what to do if the league had to be cancelled. According to bbc it was that if the season reached 27 games or so (75% of season) then it would be worked out on an averaged points per game system but if it the season was less than 66% complete it would be null and void.
But I can’t find confirmation anywhere.

Agree with the full request for disclosure from Everton surely there must be certain protocols to abandon a match and they all have to be above board.

Won't happen but the international break in March needs F***ing off to allow for a bit of flexibility. It could either be two weeks to make up lost games or it could even allow a two week break in the season (to be taken probably within the next couple of weeks) when the players could go into isolation and we could effectively 'start again'.

Sheffield United now with several positive covid tests but no games postponed.

Hassenhutl is also isolating due a positive test in his household so Southampton could be the next club to follow.

Doesn’t anyone think it’s odd that when the season was originally cancelled there were far fewer cases on a daily basis than there are now? So things are seemingly way worse but football is still going on now.

Basically because the economy fu**ed they keep going. I said from day one football shouldn't of re started but that's all old news now.

Unless they are spitting in each other’s mouth I don’t think it really matters. Heavy droplets are on the ground quickly.
