It’s all become a little too exhausting to follow it’s taken the shine and excitement for most part of what football should be.

Doesn’t anyone think it’s odd that when the season was originally cancelled there were far fewer cases on a daily basis than there are now?

      Fewer tests, possibly not cases.

Testing is way up over here from last spring. Not there?

Also, has there been one confirmed case of a player getting CoVid from another player in a game? If they are doing the right things off the park and staying home if they show symptoms,  do matches, especially sans fans, pose a risk?

Doesn't football have a positive role to play for morale and mental health?

I heard a team doctor once say one that the risk of a player getting Covid during a match was very low.

Would like to see a study about that though too to confirm.

Crossed wires. He said more players have coronavirus now than when it was stopped in March. I suggested that's only because we know they are getting tested now.

We just don't know how many had it around the time when LFC were playing Atletico for example.

It's more the other people involved. Coaches, people working at the training ground such as chefs, cleaners etc. They may be vulnerable or have vulnerable people at home etc. If a normal workplace has an outbreak you'd assume the office would be shut whilst they got things under control so should football be different?

      Not really about the players.

In all honesty we had the great 8 days off before the W.B.A. game and played our strongest available team and weren't great.

Maybe better of playing every 3/4 days and keeping the momentum going.

No, I said more cases, as in more cases in England now than when they stopped football the first time. If it’s so dire now, why has football still been allowed to be played because when it was stopped originally there were far fewer daily cases.

Don’t you know, no one cares about mental health or anything like that anymore. It’s only about preventing people from getting or spreading Covid that’s important. If we can save just one life we should all do our part.....but forget about the lives lost to suicide or substance abuse because of the effects this is having on mental health.

A friend of mine works for the state department of children and families (DCF) and she said it has been overwhelming the # of calls she and the department has received since the pandemic started reporting child / domestic abuse. No one cares about that, however.

It’s a bit of a joke that City are already back in training and have no new positive cases in the latest round of testing. Can see why Everton were pissed off now as it seems from the outside at least that the game should have gone ahead.

If you have 14 fit players the rule was you play how on earth did Sheff Utd  have to play in same situation and why are names of affected people kept confidential  cant seem to remember us having to do that.  It stinks he had Walker and Jesus out so they have called it off can understand  why Everton pissed off and then Fulham follow suit . Good thing is City now have two games to cram in and I am convinced they will be our nearest challengers

I see Man City returned to team training today - just couple of days after supposedly not being able to play their match. I guess that's one way to alleviate festive season fixture congestion.

Jose fuming about Fulham's cancellation today as well.

Just think its wrong if they could have met the 14 player guidelines with the small squad they have its a shambles and Spurs sat in hotel at 2 pm still not knowing. Like I said more games for them to cram in lets get the points on the board

JĂźrgen says NO to a circuit-breaker shutdown (which would break no CoVid circuits, btw).

      https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jan/01/JĂźrgen-klopp-urges-premier-league-to-avoid-covid-19-circuit-breaker-shutdown

Some of his comments from the article:

Jürgen Klopp believes the Premier League should avoid implementing a “circuit-breaker” shutdown designed to control the rising number of Covid-19 cases at clubs if at all possible.

“I think the competition can go on,” said Liverpool’s manager, presumably mindful of the severe fixture congestion which would be an inevitable consequence of such a suspension. “And it’s also important it goes on. People want to watch it and, in this case, we are not part of society.

“We go to the training ground and stuff like that but usually we isolate. We try to do everything to keep the boys as safe as possible so I think we really can carry on. We all try to do our best to keep the competition going. I think it works well for everybody but I’m not a [medical] specialist and I will respect all the decisions made in the next few weeks.”

The realist in Klopp always expected an increase in coronavirus within clubs at this time of year. “We knew before the winter there would probably be a second wave,” he said. “It’s a challenge when it is about self-isolation so I am not surprised that the numbers have gone up slightly in football.”
