Pre Match: Everton V Liverpool 19:00 Sun 21st June 2020
      Jun 15, 2020 06:47:16 pm
The Merseyside derby has been cleared to be held at Everton's Goodison Park stadium.

The match on 21 June could be the first chance for the Reds - who are 25 points clear at the top - to clinch the title.

It was one of the games considered a risk because of fears fans could congregate outside the ground.

Southampton's St Mary's had been earmarked as a potential neutral venue.

But Liverpool's ground safety advisory group has now recommended that both Everton and Liverpool can play their remaining home fixtures "safely and securely" behind closed doors at their stadiums.

The group's chair Wendy Simon, a councillor and Liverpool City Council's deputy mayor, told BBC Sport there was "no evidence" fans would congregate.

Liverpool can win their first league title for 30 years by beating Everton - if second-placed Manchester City lose at home to Arsenal on 17 June.

We're hoping too much from Arteta.

2-1 for us and we will win the league on Wednesday after.

Tough game really in strange circumstances, we have a habit of slow starts after breaks and this has been a long one.

I think we win this with our minds firmly on the job in hand.

There was a point when I never thought we'd see this game or any of them going ahead, so what a massive relief to be posting in the pre-match thread, it's been a long time coming, I almost feel like it's the start of a new season after having such a long break.

Going to be mega excited to see the boys playing live on Sunday, I think it'll be an unusually slow start to a 'Derby' as the teams suss each other out under very strange circumstances, but as the match goes on I think Liverpool will come into their own and take control of the game, as I see us running out comfortable winners in the end.

I think it'll be the Palace game though before we are crowned 'CHAMPIONS' just a shame that they won't be able to do it in front of a packed Anfield, never mind, it won't make winning it any different, we'll still be celebrating till the end of the season.

      Bring on the toffee's  :kop5cf8koxp6:

Bet the boys can't wait to get stuck in again.

Been a while since we had one of these topics. It's been missed.

Defence and Attack picks itself. Midfield would go for Hendo in the deeper role, he's been boss playing that role this season when Fabinho was out injured and we actually started to play worse and concede more goals when Fab went back into that role, prior to Fab returning I think we bagged 10 clean sheets in 11 games. Then would go for Gini and Keita. Gini is another that picks himself really, much like Hendo, but Keita was looking sharp vs Blackburn and has apparently been looking good in training too. I think I read and may have posted in the early part of the year that our strongest 3 statistically has been Hendo, Gini and Keita.

                        Alisson

      Trent    Gomez    Virgil    Robbo

                        Hendo
             Keita                 Gini

      Salah          Bobby          Mane

Subs; Adrian, Williams, Matip, Fab, Milner, Ox, Origi

Can see Minamino missing out on this occasion whilst he's still getting up to speed with English football.

Just happy to see a pre match thread to be honest. Hoping the players can use some of the asterisk and null and void bollocks over the last few months as fuel to start throwing the kitchen sink at teams. No better place to start than at the home of the bitters.

Are the various stadiums going to pipe in the crowd noise, like they do in Bundesliga, I thought I would hate that but its actually better that no noise at all.

BTW I think we are going to smash the bitters, big score line, the lads have a point to prove and have been chomping at the bit to finish the season.

Not sure if the stadiums are doing it but Sky Sports are offering the option of crowd noise (red button or something)

I’m extremely happy for the premier league to be back. Shame there’s not going to be any fans but better late than never.

Any opinions on socially distancing fans in the stadium e.g sit 4 seats apart

I’m really undecided if I want them to win it against the BS or against Palace so that Citeh have to give us a guard of honour.
That’s because I’m almost they will refuse to do it and show themselves up for what they really are!

I'd be more than happy if we were to win the league on our first game back - but I doubt very much Arsenal are going to get anything out of Man City on Wednesday.

This is going to be the penultimate win I reckon.

It's just weird to be talking about an actual match isn't it! How incredible would it be to be champions less than a week from now! After all this waiting to then do it after 1 game would be crazy!

It's really hard to predict anything tbh, the Bundesliga has seen the away team win just as often as the home team so anything could happen between City and the Gooners tomorrow night and likewise at the weekend. Much will depend on fitness levels and how well the players have been keeping themselves in shape during the lockdown and also the mental approach to the game. Given we were on the cusp of the title pre-lockdown I strongly suspect our lads will be a little bit fitter and little more focussed than every other side in the league (or certainly towards the top end).

I forgot there will be 9 subs so I expect you’re right.

I don’t think it’s the stadiums doing that, it’s the TV broadcasters doing that, probably likely to block out the swearing as much as anything.

Personally I hope we don’t put the crowd noise in, I think it would be more of a distraction than anything.
