On to the remainder of the season story. Still worthwhile things to play for, records, etc.

The media will play this as City putting a marker down for next season, unless we win in which case they'll likely ignore it more of less.

All in all it could be a tremendous game of football. I expect our strongest team (and theirs).

Come on the Champions of England, Europe and The World.

Should be a good game of football to watch. They will actually play and not sit back plus they will want to prove themselves. Could see a lot of goals.

Looking forward to it. They play free flowing attacking football but to many teams give them huge respect and don't try to play, just sit deep and wait for the inevitable. We counter press, why other teams don't do that against City is a mystery. Wolves did it..twice and even Norwich beat them, but standing off them dropping off plays right into their hands.

To have a chance tho you first have to compete, counter press then get at them and trust your team. Could be a cracker..

They will have to attack but their defence is shaky, especially without Fernandhino, If we play well then we win.

Bang on, without fernandinho they’re a different side, Rodri is painfully slow.

I personally think it’ll be a good game, no pressure. Front 3 will be trying outrageous shots and hopefully bang in a few goals.

Totally disgusted with Danny Murphy. Kevin de Bruyne should disassociate himself from those remarks. Such a sly mean spirited thing to say. Certainly would ban him from Anfield.

Never liked the little c**t. Chip on the shoulder as the club never looked at him as an option to represent them in any capacity after he retired. Same as James - my source David James himself post the Kiev final I was involved in a fan match the next day coached by James and Smicer had a good chat to him.

Similar to the dime-a-dozen newspaper story where a journo rings up a former player for an opinion on some topic that basically has nothing to do with said player. Usually the opinion is casting some doubt/shade (at least the way the journo and the headline-writer spin it) on something the current team manager and players are doing. It's totally lazy and I can only think reflects how some former players just can't cope with being out of the spotlight.

I hope we use the remaining games to get rhe likes of Keita, Minamino, Jones, Elliot, Hoever, and Williams some minutes.  If our transfer business is going to be disrupted by Covid then we need to see who of the fringe players is capable of stepping up and playing a bigger part in our success next season.

That's the issue isn't it. Do we go all out to set a new points record or do we experiment with the players coming through. Klopp said "we can't spend million and millions...we have to look for solutions within the club"..is he saying he will be giving Williams, Jones,Mini and other a lot more game time.

For me I think it's best to play younger players. Obviously having a points record would be great but we need a bigger capable squad for next season and beyond.

Ironic part is that I think KDB wears boots with no laces. But it’s good to see Murphy is clearly still bitter about being binned off by the club.

      What a weapon.

Regarding the game though, same line up but Keita coming in for Gini.

the fixtures will be pretty close together after Thursday, so JĂźrgen will likely mix some of these players in, a few at a time per match, not 11 changes for a game like we saw with some of the League Cup team selections.

We will NEVER have a better chance of setting a points total record that will stand for all time, we play our strongest team every game and rotate in some youngsters when comfortable in each game, I think its easily possible to do both, especially with this 5 subs rule.

Aston Villa, Brighton and Burnley should be good opportunities to rotate a bit. We have 5 subs on the bench per match in case it goes a bit wrong. For the other matches City, Arse, Chavs and the final game against the Barcodes as strong a team as possible please.

Same team again, he wont change it for this one. also 5 subs available for 2nd half.

He may start tinkering with lineups in the games after city, but even then, I cant see wholesale changes, they want to smash these records that are up for grabs.

Klopp on this match and the guard of honor:

"We take it, it's a nice gesture, 100 per cent. I wouldn't need it, to be honest, because we go there and want to play a football game and either way we want to win the football game.

"I don't celebrate things what happened a week before or stuff like that. Again, it's a nice gesture but that's it pretty much.

Oh, then I have a lot more pride and ambition than you. I'm hoping for a repeat of 4-0 or more in every remaining match. I would be pissed if we show any sign of slacking. I'd be utterly disappointed with the team if we fail to keep a clean sheet. They'd have let me down. We must be relentless in the pursuit of ultimate supremacy. I'm such an interesting LFC fan...

Don't get me wrong. I only want the best results for the club. I make no compromise that I'm heartless. If you want some love, go get a Klopp hug.

We are back to the serious business of supremacy. You can have your Christmas after the season ends. Oops, wrong thread.  :f_doh:  :f_steam: :f_whistle:  :f_wah:  >:D :rasp: :aaliverpool2xt1: :champ: :couch: :celebrate:

I know what you're thinking but I'm already looking to next season how to defend our title. I'm looking towards the future not the present. I think if with my team, I would win nonetheless.

So we try different players and prepare for next season.

Not the game for trying things out,  for me we go there and show them exactly why we are CHAMPIONS, they f***in scraped ahead of us last season, their win against us tipped the balance overall, this season we have essentially pissed it, and currently have a 23 point lead, not 1point, Twenty f***in Three, so let’s go there to the virtual Emptihad and f***in batter them,

I want us to play them off the f***in park, don’t give them a sniff, pass them to f***in death, show how WE are the best side ever ever ever ever to grace the EPL, Ever, show them we don’t need to BUY the f***in league, show them how to win it with sheer hard graft determination, passion, and never say die mindset,

I’m looking forward to their guard of honour, all their players, Pep, the tea ladies, the chef, their board, and right at the very end is that kunt Gallagher, High Flying Turd, I’d have that pr**k presenting Hendo with a mock up trophy, watch the tw*t squirm with f***in envy as he ties on the red ribbons( great musician btw)

      From Citizens to Shitizens.

      1-4 CHAMPIONS

                                                                     Alisson

                                                    Trent   Gomez.  Virgil. Robbo

                                                                      Fabinho
                                                        Hendo.                     Gini

                                                       Salah.        Bobby.      Mane

We will NEVER have a better chance of setting a points total record that will stand for all time, we play our strongest team every game and rotate in some youngsters when comfortable in each game, I think its easily possible to do both, especially with this 5 subs rule.

It was only a few days ago you were talking about dropping Firmino for Minamino and even Chamberlain.

Has to strike the right balance between winning games and also having one eye on the future. Obviously City away has to be a strong line up. But having these 7 games with little or no pressure is to good an opportunity not to test younger players. Progression within the squad is vital for the future of the club.

Also younger players have to feel there is a route to the first team. Could be the Gaffa will try to do both. It's a fantastic position to be in. Great to hear the Gaffa also say "we attack next season"...gauntlet well and truely chucked down.

Regardless of who we field we NEED to beat this Shiteh team to display our dominance not only of the PL this season but of the winners of the last 2 seasons, everyone slips up now and again (draws against the Scum and Bitters and a Buzzin' from the Hornets) but we don't want another one against this lot!

The thing is we dont 'need' to do anything. As title winners and champions league holders the superiority is proven already.

Seems like for years we have gone from must win game to must win game, for the fans at least its time to sit back and enjoy.

I see your point Foar,  but there is nothing like rubbing their noses in it is there, they will hate it standing in that guard of honour, they’ll be f***in cringing as we march down that line with heads held high, and they’ll be f***in livid, they’ll want some sort of recompense and they’ll try and do it on the pitch, but it ain’t gonna happen, cos we’ll be ready, JĂźrgen will want the boys to hammer home why we are Champions, we may not need to prove anything, you’re right, but there’s nothing like kicking your rival in the bollocks when their already hurting.

      Exactly.

All this "lay down a marker" thing is fan stuff, sometimes fed by ex-players to try and ramp up rivalry etc to get more subscriptions for whatever sh*t show they work for.
Players say it because fans like to hear it, so it builds excitement and isn't just a dead rubber.

I still want us to win, of course I do, but that's because I always want us to win, regardless of the opposition.

We’ll also plant massive doubts in their heads about next season.

From the official site today: Klopp added: “In an ideal world, we would not have had eight days. In our specific situation it was OK, but when you could see how many changes City could make, then I think they can deal with the situation.

“When I thought about the fixtures we will face and what City will face, especially with Champions League coming up plus the FA Cup, I knew it would be really tough for Pep and his boys. But then you watch the games and you think, ‘Wow!’. It’s pretty impressive. I don’t know – they have rhythm, we had a break, what is better we shall see tonight.”

Liverpool prepared for this evening’s fixture with a light training session at the home of rugby league club Salford Red Devils.

“It was good, a good pitch,” said Klopp of the workout at the AJ Bell Stadium. “It is not a long session on the morning of a game, but it’s an important one with a few set-pieces, couple of routines on the pitch, so that’s important. We did it, so now we are here, the boys are eating and I give you an interview!”

The one thing I'm sure about today's match is that we won't be suffering for lack of effort or desire. There will be no hangover or whatever.

Just watched extended highlights from the match at Anfield, which feels like it was played in about 1988...! Buzzin' for this one now.

Should be a cracker. About 5 hours now.

Nice surprise, this. Any other situation I'd probably be infatuated with the thought of this game for about a week or two beforehand. But after everything that's happened in the last week I keep forgetting that it's on. Even today I've been opening Twitter and keep having a "oh f**king hell yeah, the match is on tonight" moment

Was also reminded today of that snide video they all made last season after they won the league, so after our guard of honour I hope we f**king batter them & rub salt completely in the wounds.

Going off ours & their last two performances you'd expect it like, but the bookies for some reason have us at nearly 3/1 to win ???

I know the lads had a few beers after we won the league but that was 7 days ago now. Expect them to be up no less up for this than they would be any other game

And wtf has Danny Murphy been smoking. Whatever you think about a guard of honour, the boot lace comments are a bit mad. Looking forward to seeing them line up like overpaid losers though !! :)
They still have FA cup and CL, so maybe this isn't their focus - and we've won the BIG ONE, so maybe it's not ours either - so hard to predict it. They are playing well, so are we. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
The great thing is that, no matter what the result is, we are STILL THE CHAMPIONEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Cool beer, two good teams, enjoy..
