Brighton & Hove Albion 1-3 Liverpool: In game and Post Match discussion
      Jul 08, 2020 07:21:42 pm

      Good evening from Brighton

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Williams, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, Fabinho, Milner, Mane, Minamino, Robertson, Origi, Jones, Elliott.

Neco Williams makes his first Premier League start in tonight’s fixture with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

The 19-year-old replaces Andy Robertson in one of four changes made by the champions from Sunday’s win over Aston Villa.

Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino also return, while James Milner is back on the bench.

Made up for Williams - deserves a chance to prove he can be a valuable squad member next season.

Ox on the other hand is a very lucky boy to be starting.

Delighted for Williams getting the start, think he's deserved it, let's see how he goes.
Keita also gets rewarded for some decent recent form with another start.
Ox, bit suprised to see him in the first XI after being poor in last game(s), doesn't say a lot for Minamino's form.
Surprised Mane not Salah on bench, but Mo can turn it on and hopefully he does tonight.
Haven't scored in few away matches, would be good to get a better away performance tonight.

Giving valuable chance for Williams and to check him if we need to sign anyone as back-up left back or not.

Hopefully Chamberlain can do something this game. Never really think he fits in a front three.

Don't think he is anywhere near as sharp as he was before his injury

Williams deserves a chance. Not sure how we set up with the Ox and Bobby. Who will play down the left, probably Nabby. Should be strong enough to get the result.

I would think Ox would be on the left wing, Klopp has used him wide a few times this season.

Sure. I do not recall him playing left back for the U23s at any point. I wonder if there is any chance Trent plays at left back and Neco right, despite how the names have been listed. Trent really hasn't played at left back either, not counting a few minutes here and there when the wings get swapped after a set piece.

I really like the mentality Neco shows and am glad Jürgen is granting this opportunity to him. He has earned it.

Rotation for Robbo, Fab and Sadio, after Gini, Jordan and Bobby started the weekend on the bench. Maybe  Mo and a center back get a rest vs. Burnley.

Williams on the left could mean more of a 4231, with Henderson drifting left and Wijnaldum right (but also interchanging) and the "3-1" as more of a diamond, which in effect is still a 433 but a different shape.

      But I'm probably wrong ;)

      Hope the lad does well.

It's a miracle the lad is playing at all with the extent of the injury, hopefully has a good game tonight

Brilliant for that young lad, can you imagine how he feels, knowing that the best manager on planet football trusts and has faith in you, made up for young Neco, good luck lad,

Not many concerns aside from the Ox, he has the opportunity to right a few wrongs so I hope he pulls his head out of his arse and plays like we know he can, can only see a victory for the Champions but this won’t be easy by any stretch, we just need to hope we perform somewhere near what we’ve been accustomed to.

Just to add that, although I fully understand the need for rotation with the fixtures being what they are, I think Sadio is the player whose absence from the starting XI we feel the most (Virgil and Alisson the others that come to mind).

Hopefully we manage to get a result in spite of that.

Not keen on Ox starting, he's been dire since the restart and once again he's out of position where he struggles even more. Would have gone for Jones. Likewise not keen on Gini starting either.

Them 2 players, along with Bobby, need to significantly up their game.
