      Pathetic.

I respect them because its a tough job and one the game cant survive without. However until they are put in front of a camera to dxplain some calls they make no f**king way should players have to applaud them i n support. Is this a f**king wind up

What on earth was that fiasco about the disallowed Brighton goal vs. West Brom today. I didn't understand during the game. I've heard Graham Potter and then the TV comms try to explain it for 10 minutes now in the post-game and I still don't understand.

      Anyone?

Basically, Brighton player asked the referee if he could take the free kick, referee said yes and blew the whistle, player took free kick...
But before ball went past the goal line, the referee realised wba were not ready so blew his whistle again.
      I think.

I was always under the impression that the ‘quick’ free kick was advantage to the attacking team. But maybe I wrong....

It’s very clear what he’s done. He’s blown the whistle for the free kick to be taken and then in an instant realised that the keeper is nowhere to be seen and following the first error of judgement follows it up with an even bigger error by blowing a second time.

Once he’s blown first he can’t blow a second time to stop the game as there’s no actual reason within the laws of the game to stop it.

He gives the goal. Var then rule the goal out because a second whistle has blown (it won’t take into account why it was blown).

The ref blew his whistle twice. The first time for the free kick to be taken, and the second time to stop play before the ball goes in, so a goal can't be given, and play then resumes with the free kick retaken. Everyone will blame VAR for it because that's what they do, but it's the ref's fault there. Because of VAR, the correct decision was reached, but the whole fiasco was hilarious.

Allardyce said he hadn't seen such a free kick in 2-3 years, which is wrong as the same player did the same thing against us last season. The ref blew just once for the free kick to be taken and it stood. But attention to detail is not something Allardyce is known for.

The reason I can't understand is, as you say, "there's no actual reason with the laws of the game..." followed by "VAR then....." and there we are. VAR (and bad refereeing).

I didn't see it live and I was getting a lot of competing audio in my house so that probably didn't help me. Next time I'm just tuning in to the Huyton  Red channel for explanations.

It was just another example of absolute piss poor refereeing. Nuno was spot on a few weeks ago when he said Lee Mason needs to improve a lot before refereeing in the Premier League. He was fined £25k for that by the way.

Anyone else think the Villa keeper Martinez is in the top 3 of keepers in the league, along with Ali and Ederson?

Best keeper in the league this season. Quite funny that Arsenal let him go and held on to Leno.

I said Leicester would fade away, mark my words, they are fragile, especially with Harvey Barnes now injured.

Spurs look a bit dangerous though, Bale has finally turned up, must want a new contract or something ;-)

The simple decision should be if he's blowing his whistle a second time, Mason should be dragging it back, ordering the retake of the kick and point at his whistle to signify taking the kick when the ref blow's his whistle. The whole F**k up is him blowing a second time, then allowing the goal, then being a complete shithouse and letting VAR sort it. And all VAR do is disallow the goal because of the second whistle!
