Not got a problem for Jürgen calling out the problem. I think before the international break he sympathised with Solksjaer who was unhappy about having to go to Turkey in the CL on Wednesday and then play Everton in the early game on Saturday. So what do the broadcasters do? The next possible chance they get they stick us on the early Saturday game after playing Champions League on Wednesday. tw*ts.

It's interesting that when Spain were dominating the Champions League their leagues games would always be scheduled to give them the best chance to compete on both fronts. Here, BT and Sky don't give a flying F**k about anything like that. About time the managers from the big clubs call it out for what it is.

Pardon the very old pop culture reference, but if you replace pop music stars with footballers and you have the scenario depicted well here:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMr3KtYUCcI

"And did we tell you the name of the game? We call it riding the gravy train."

.....kind of appropriate too....meaning the tv broadcasting has respect but still want you to play to their tune !

      Quote from billythered
IF Jürgen doesn't speak out no one else does and that ladies & Gentle persons is a massive problem,  because the likes of Sky & BT in particular can dictate to clubs when & where they play and that cannot be right, as usual the EPL sit on their greedy little hands and allow this to happen,  as we have seen in recent weeks it's all about how much money they can glean thru ppv which suits their agenda perfectly,  when league games are spread over 5/6 days rather than the three on Saturday, Sunday & Monday evening,

We for example played on a Sunday evening, why couldn't we have played at 3pm Saturday?
The dreaded internationals could have been put back to allow a full programme of games over the whole weekend,  including tonight,

Why can't our game V Burnley be played on Sunday @ 4pm , the scheduling is pathetic and definitely does not take into account the wellfare of players ,

I'm glad Jürgen has a pop, but he needs support from other managers and maybe just maybe somebody will finally take notice! ! Don't get holding yet breath though?

                                         YNWA

Jürgen wants more time for the team to train. The demands of the schedule however, won't allow it. The Brighton game has one day available, and therefore it is being played on that day. It maybe could be played later in the day, but it has to be Saturday. It can't be played on any other day because of our European schedule.

Jürgen has always spoken out about the demands of fixtures since he arrived, and he really hates the early kos. I see his pov, but if you want to be successful, you have to be prepared to play 60-65 games per season, and give up your Christmas and New Year. That's just the way it is in England, the calendar is set 3 years in advance. He and other managers complaining about it won't make any difference. It never has. There are slightly fewer cup replays this year and no League Cup semi final over two legs, but that's as far as it goes.

Sky and BT payout most of the lucrative tv revenue, so they can argue that it's their privilege to dictate when a game is scheduled for. Personally I don't think every game must be shown at a different ko time. If any ko times clash, there are red buttons, streaming, and split screen services available for viewers to choose what game they want to watch.

You dismiss it but there's absolutely no reason why we couldn't have had the 8pm kick off on Saturday. It's WBA v Sheffield United in that slot and neither team play Europe. Getting a late kick off makes a big difference in terms of player recovery and preparation as we could have had a week of 'evening kick offs' but once again Sky and BT don't give a F**k about that. They just want us on the early kick off to draw in viewers who will stay on the channel to watch the next game.

CoVid changed everything regarding close season and having a proper platform from which to build fixtures. As Jürgen rightly points out, you can't just say "CONTRACT!" - If the clubs were unified on this there's no question the TV people would adjust. People will still want to watch football even if the kickoff times are a bit more accomodating to players' fitness.

But of course most of the Premier League honchos can't see beyond the pile of money. You've got Klopp and perhaps a few other managers speaking out - but they are voices in the wilderness, difficult to hear over the sounds of the fat cats rolling in the piles cash, moaning in addict's delight.

Yes mate, hence leaving the line in, “Which one is Pink” think it was EMI but not %100 sure, Floyd were between record companies and seeking pastures new, the song was actually sung by Roy Harper and not Gilmour, according  to wiki, it was Waters ‘critique of hypocrisy and greed within the music industry, which Gilmore did not agree on hence Harper singing it, he was one of only two singing guests Floyd used the other was Clare Torry who did ‘The great gig in the sky’ on Dark Side of the Moon.

Yesterday’s loss is much easier to get over than a heartbreaking one where you play your ass off but got the unlucky bounce. Think 2-1 loss at City where we were half and inch from being up 1-0. That’s a gut wrenching loss. Yesterday, like at Villa, was one of those “bad day at the office” where nothing went right and couldn’t get going at all. Everyone knows the team is exponentially better than that so you move on and focus on the next game.

Klopp is a very rational person and is quick to put things behind him. That’s why he can go out drinking with fans hours after the CL loss while fans were flooding the internet for days.

Hope springs eternal in the human bfeast. He's an optimist by nature.

Dealing with the FA and EPL authorities can cure someone of that though...

If I'm being honest,  I don't like to see this.

Sky and the media with vested interests in games every 3 days will end up painting him in a bad light if he continues to criticise them.

As I was saying.  Time to knock this on the head and let other managers become the cheerleaders of 5 subs or kick off times or whatever.

Concentrate on coaching the team and don't get distracted.

Maybe Jürgen should just blank the media post and pre-game for a few months and send up one of the coaches to fulfil contractual responsibilities. They're all now going to try and wind him up to get a reaction after the behaviour of that tw*t Kelly yesterday. In any case they're not listening and have no interest in his compelling argument.

It's not about drawing in viewers who will stay on the channel, it's about the far east market. 12:30pm here is prime time in China, Hong Kong etc ... 5:30pm here is the middle of the night over there. So getting the bigger teams into the 12:30 slot matters because they can then get more money from the TV  networks in Asia to broadcast those games.

Jürgen Klopp opens up £700m Liverpool gap on Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola

Jürgen Klopp and Michael Edwards have effectively made Liverpool over £500million via their transfer activity, according to a study analysing Premier League squad values across the last 10 years.

The European Football Index, a study conducted by BetVictor, has found that Klopp has improved Liverpool’s value by £667million since taking charge, at a cost of just £114.2million to FSG.

That is the largest figure of any Premier League manager, with Klopp also one of only eight managers to have his finances in the black, based upon squad value and transfer fees.

Burnley’s Sean Dyche is second on the list, having improved his squad’s value by £117.4 million based upon transfer fees received for players sold and spent on arrivals, costing Burnley just £28 million in the process.

Meanwhile, the study found Nuno Espirito Santo has effectively spent £164.2 million to improve his Wolves side’s value by £241.6million, an effective profit of £77.4 million.

Klopp and Edwards have brought the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to Anfield for prices that have proven to be great value, while Trent Alexander-Arnold came though the Academy to become one of the best full-backs in the world.

Based upon transfer spend alone, only four managers have managed to improve their squad’s value since taking charge, with Klopp spending £479.6 million and taking the Reds' squad’s value from £312.4million to £978.9million today, an effective profit of £187 million.

Liverpool boss Klopp is joined on that list by Scott Parker, who has boosted Fulham's worth by an extra £50.6 million on top of net spend, with Chris Wilder at £15.2million and Dyche at £662,000.

At the other end of the spectrum, the study discovered that Man City boss Pep Guardiola has effectively spent £549 million to improve the value of his squad by £351 million, a loss of £197.7 million.

But it is Jose Mourinho’s spell at Spurs that is proving most costly for his club.

Mourinho’s squad this season has dropped £127.3million in value compared to the beginning of last, despite him spending £130.5million. Considering transfers out, the club are effectively £229million down on their investment.

Mikel Arteta, who has been in charge of Arsenal since last December, has effectively lost the Gunners £138.7million, according to the study, when taking into account his starting squad value, the current value and his transfer activity.

"The Chosen One" and Steve Bruce complete the bottom five, both having cost West Ham and Newcastle United respectively over £100million each, with Brighton boss Graham Potter not far behind on just under £95 million.
