      Final today! Who knew?

This used to be the biggest game of the season, now, just another game.... the new League Cup.

      I'd like a Leicester win if that's possible  :)

Used to love the whole build up, moving it to Saturday tea time didn't help.

Yep, following the train with the fans on in a helicopter, It's a Knockout, flicking between BBC & ITV, winner in er CWC, all gone on because of Sky and money in the CL.

Getting to like Brendan  he's not doing bad job at all. I know he's been questioned going into the final furlong if he stays  :D but I have him as a possible replacement (( with what's a available )) for Ole's job.  :couch:

Thought the cup final was far better when it was a 3 pm kick off. There used to be the build up from lunch time onwards. Back to today's game, I hope Leicester can beat Chelsea, it would be nice for Leicester to finally lift the trophy.

      Sad really.

Obviously the likes of 86 88 89 when we were there was the biz but even say 87 Coventry v Spurs or even the Everton utd 85 final the build up was class, it just felt huge

Yeah it really was a memorable event and it really was a cup final you never wanted to miss.
As for the game I really can’t see anything but a Chelsea win unfortunately.

And hear. Listening to it on radio as it is pay only on TV over here.

Question for anyone: The BBC comm just mentioned the  managers and he referred to Brendan Rogers as "The Northern Irishman" and Thomas Tuchel as "The Barbarian." ?

Is that a standard reference in UK for a German? Don't recall hearing that before.

      Was it Bavarian?

Kids being too loud for me to listen but just as well given it's Jenas on commentary!

      ;D. Surely you are right.

I fear I'm becoming the 85-year old Grandpa who can't hear or remember anything correctly, about 30 years too early.

I didn't know who the comms are but I guess it's Jenas keeps talking about Gareth Southgate and the Euros.

I can’t speak for other fans Robby but  for me it really was a big deal ,& I imagine footie fans around my age 53 & up do feel the same way,
Why has it changed? I think the kick off time moving from 3 o’clock to 5.10 didn’t help, the focus moving away from the English cups to the money driven European trophies certainly didn’t help.look at how heavily promoted the European trophies are and even the uefa cup started losing its appeal a while ago ( not to me by the way)
I still love the F.A cup and league cup & have yet to miss a final & even at 53 I often watch the match  muted & have the local radio  on listening .

Aye. The Fa cup just has such little relevance now it seems.
Maybe if they offered a champions league place to the winners it would get everyone interested again.
You used to have the cameras following the coaches to the stadium and the interviews with the players beforehand and it was like a festival.
Nowadays it feels like how the charity shield used to feel. Very diluted.
      Money takes I guess.

Would love to have Youri here. A much more of a goal threat than Gini. Would cost a bomb though and probably down the priority list.

it was quite emotional to see players celebrate with fans I think its a reflection of just what has been missing in football even more so at Anfield.
