Thanks for posting and indeed a very nice set of comments from Jürgen.

ON the other hand, it has been months since I've been on The Echo web site and now my browser is sore from having looked at it. If a company wanted to design something to make someone's reading experience excruciating, they need to talk to the folks from that publication.  :f_steam:

I wonder how many players have left Liverpool at his age and gone on to greater things ? not many

So it looks like it's Barcelona. Wonder how he'll be received considering what he did to them in the Champion's League.

Sorry to see him leave the club, whatever his true motives. Whether it is financial or a fresh challenge, I wish him well for the remainder of his career. It will be difficult to replace a player who has stayed consistently injury free.

looks like it's 3 years at lower-than-expected wages. Given it looks like he was underpaid with us, Gini should really have gone with a new agent it seems.

Barcelona are a couple years from being a geriatric team. Gini is 31 in a few months, Aguero is 32, Messi is 33, Pique 34, Busquets 32, Pjanic 31 and Griezmann 30.

So let me see if this is correct:

He wanted a 4 year contract

      We offered 3

      He refused

Now joins Barca on a 3 year deal???

and has taken a pay cut???

Please someone help me to understand what the F**k has happened here?

Is it that he just wants to play for Barca?

Who knows, mate? Players F**k clubs off, clubs F**k players off. He served us well to be fair to him.

Is what it is. Good luck to him. Left us some very fond memories.

He'll just need replacing, that's all....

I know bud and I might be sad he left but I'm not pissed off about it. Just don't understand it.

How can you ever want to leave this Club with this manager, the players in the team and especially after seeing his walk of honor and the way the lads looked at him and had so much love in their eyes for him. He won't get that at Barca!

It could be mate he wants a new challenge,  maybe his missus hates the weather here and wants a warmer climate,  maybe he wants to finish his playing days with Barcelona, it don't really matter, its what he wants,
Its no slight on us he's loved it here, but maybe within himself he doesn't fancy another 9 months of intensity and feels he needs to slow things down a bit.

      All the best to him.

A fantastic servant to the club and make no mistake he will be badly missed.

Robust, reliable, adaptable and a very intelligent footballer.

Cant begrudge Gini for whatever he wants to do. While he was here he was a tremendous servant to the club. Consistent, and turned up in big games; can't ask for much more. Adieu Sir. Ta da da da da da...

Barcelona seemingly an ageing club, seems that he is intent on signing for Dad's army ! Although no grudges all the best to Gini, who has obviously been a great asset to the club.

Gini - he's like your favourite comfy cardigan, always there and extremely reliable.

He will be badly missed but I wish him all the love and luck with his new club.

Thanks for the memories Gini and all the very best.
