If you're going to "build" around anyone in midfield, it's Jones and Elliott. The rest are at an age where in 2-3 years they're gone or being phased out.

Except they are both unproven in the grand scheme of things as it stands, and not to mention one may not even play again this season.

He was an obvious omission from Brentord we never had the control in midfield for all of Hendos running he doesn’t have the ability to dictate the tempo of the game. Thiago does a little like Modric at Madrid.

Thiago seen on crutches so who knows how long he’s out for.

I think I would prefer it if klopp told us after player injury that the length will be 12 month: that way when certain players take several months to reappear after the slightest of knocks I won’t be disappointed.

Gutted he's out longer but hardly surprising. I'm just resigned to the fact he's not going to be a regular in terms of being fit ... same as hendo.

Funny how we have the 2 above plus we are falling over ourselves to give the biggest sicknote of all time keita a new lucrative contract yet we allowed our only reliable midfielder to walk out the door for free and made a pathetic attempt to keep him. Crazy.

This is apparently only his 2nd injury for us. The first was an impact injury from a disgraceful challenge by Richarlison last season and now this. He obviously had that very slight issue right as the season started but it was nothing, kept him out for about 1 game.

Excluding the issues since joining us. Since 17/18 season he has only missed more than 1 game at a time on 3 occasions. He missed 4 games with a groin strain and then another 5 to have surgery in his groin so I’d hazard a guess and say that surgery was needed initially and he wasn’t necessarily dealt with in the best way by Bayern.

I don’t think this calf knock is anything to worry about, it’s not like he’s picking up muscle injuries every few games for us and like I said, the main injury was caused by a wreckless foul where he was lucky all he missed was 17 games because it could’ve put him out for a whole year. Think that number of games he missed just makes his injury record with us seem worse than it actually is.

We should sell him in January ... he doesnt fit with our style and is too injury prone ... a bad fit

He was superb the last 10-12 games of last season so i disagree regards him 'not fitting our style' but he certainly is a bit injury prone and not getting any younger (like a few of our middies).

I wouldn't be so hasty though.

Truth. I thought we had gotten past the selling our best players strategy.........

      In regards his injuries

He has had two that have impacted us - one from a tw*t of a tackle by Richarlinson and the current one

I would keep him because we need plan B and he offers it. I would sell no one if not replaced. That is why I was angry with the sale of Shaqiri because he was not replace (maybe Klopp wanted Elliott to replace him and rightly so.)

Very good observation. During the whole game I was telling myself the exact same thing especially after each of our leads. If he was there to slow things down and sort of keep it from becoming the relentless back and forth it was for most of the game then we would've kept our lead and most probably added to it considering how Brentford were playing.

I'm not saying our backline was having a good game (because they weren't) but Fabinho was out of it and nobody on either sides of him had that ability to take the ball, keep it for a few seconds, and then produce a simple pass that beats the first line of the opposition's press thus calming about everybody around him and effectively opening spaces for us.

I'm amazed some people still don't see what he brings to us.

Yeah get rid of van Dijk too, he missed most of last season through injury.

Can’t believe some are saying about his injuries, he’s had one real bad one caused by a reckless challenge, hardly an indication of being injury prone , he’s a class act .

Yeah. Sounds like there’s a better replacement out there whom:
      1) we’ll pay up
      2) is willing to join us
      3) is much better than VVD and
      4) the seller is willing to sell…

Just because a player doesn’t fit into our style. Talk is easy. I just heard Mbappe will join us in the winter.

Would have loved to see him in midfield today with Fab.

We miss him so much when he's not on the park.

      100%

We needed better control of the game after going ahead and then again after restoring our lead.
