Absolutely

Top player.  Real competeive for our three frontmen and that for sure push them to another level.

Much more to come from him of course, but I didn't think he was a stand out on Saturday.

He took his goal well, showing a real predators instinct, had a couple of nice runs, and a bit of link up play, but he rarely imposed himself on the game.

That said, it's early days in the season, and he has a knack of getting goals even when he does little else.

I like the fact that he was constantly trying to get amongst them, and his energy and pressing was good.

When I posted that back in April he was.

Not sure I agree with this, he had a few attempts on goal, scored one and made an incredible mazy run to win a freekick at the edge of the box.

Largely agree with this. Aside from his goal, he was anonymous for a lot of the first half and I'm not entriely sure the time on the clock at the time but I think it was approaching the 40 minute mark and it showed on the screen that he had only had 6 touches of the ball. Aside from his goal and a very good run where he made fools of a couple of players before getting hacked down by Cantwell, it was one of his quieter games.

But that's not neccesarily a bad thing because he showed his clinical edge and that out of nowhere he can pop up with a goal.

It wasn't a bad performance from him, just not one of his best either but at the same time, the service into him was very limited. Get at least 2 of Thiago, Fab and Hendo into the midfield and I'm sure he will be a lot more involved. But a midfield of Milner, Ox and Keita isn't exactly going to be creating a load of chances for the front 3.

Doing a bit of stuff that is eye catching doesn't really mean someone had a good game.

Doing a lot of stuff that is "grunt work" on top of the bits of eye catching stuff is having a stand out game.
Jota didn't do a lot of the grunt work, but he had a couple of eye catching moments.

He didn't have a bad game, just not a stand out game.

I swear every time I open a player thread during an international break, I expect to find they picked up an injury. Glad it wasn't the case here!

Decision being made today it sounds like, as to whether he will stay with the Portugal squad or return to the club.
