I was skeptical he was ever going to be the player that he initially was after he arrived. He hadn't scored in over a year, and didn't ever look like he was going to. So since FSG are so hell bent on balancing the books and selling to buy, I figured he would be one that would be a candidate for raising funds for Bellingham. But, since then he turned everything around and found his form again. If that's the Jota we are going to get, I have no issues with him staying, but as we had been told so many times about Bobby, a striker's purpose is to score goals, so if they aren't scoring goals, you need to get someone that is. As long as Jota is scoring goals there are no issues. People on this forum sometimes like to try and "score points" by calling people to the carpet for being wrong or for changing their mind.  Unfortunately there is no deference given to posters that actually want to engage in some quality discussion about the club...they'll let any Tom, Dick and Harry post on the forum, even if they aren't supporters of the club or if their only purpose is to wind up other posters. Not much you can do but ignore the assholes.

Jota's game is more than goals, his pressing is top notch.

In stretches he's good, but he doesn't press anywhere near Mane, Bobby (or Mo when he was at his best).

Jota's game is scoring goals and that's perfectly fine as long as he's scoring them.

Yep , he is all over the oppo back line like a rash , constant pressing that we have seen from the forwards over the years

Well tbf mate. There aren't many as good as those two at their peak.

But Jota is bloody good at it, and we massively missed that when he was out injured.

With him Diaz back and fit we are giving defenders nightmares again.
And then bring on captain chaos nunez for last 20 to fuk them even more, were looking good.

Go back to page 30 and read on from there. He was getting stick for being injured and when he came back he didn't score immediately. Despite being asked to play 3 different positions in 6 games while on the come back from injury.

If a player can't get 5 games to return to form/speed after being out with a big injury, what are we all doing here?

People were even claiming he permanently lost pace because of his injury ;D

This is 'football twitter' level stuff.

Jota and Gakpo rotating in the middle, both getting 20 goals each. Canā€™t wait.

I really think he should start above Diaz on the left, he will score if he's on the field. But in the Central Forward position, we already have both Nunez and Gakpo, but he has proved already that after Salah, he's our best goalscorer IMO. If Diaz or Nunez start ahead of him, it's simply unfair to me.

Agreed, Jota is a proper finisher. He has it all - left, right, head - all with supreme accuracy and calmness.

For me heā€™s a guaranteed starter.

I thought DJ was brilliant today.  He was dropping deep from the CF position and helping link the play.  There was 1 interchange with Szobo where he played the perfect 1-2 to play Dom in, but we couldn't convert.  A few times he got himself into great positions, but his teammates couldn't pick him out -- Gakpo had one where a simple pass out to Jota would have been a certain goal.  He also put in a good shift off the ball and grabbed a goal and an assist.

He get's into some amazing positions and his footwork is sublime.

Just needs to get his headers going again because he is one of the best in the business at heading goals and we get so many corners, surely he's gonna be on the end of a fair few this Season.

      Quality fkn Player.

He and Elliott helped swing it decisively in our favour. No doubt he should be starting in a lineup with Mo and Nunez. Diaz and Gakpo in particular have some work to do.

Voted Jota MOTM, really livened us up when he came on.
