Wish all games were 11 vs 10

Could Fabinho become the permanent starter at CB?

Such a log jam at midfield with Thiago coming in and likely starting on a regular basis

The front 3 passing on Mane’s 1st goal was text book

Happy to see the team deemphasize the TAA diagonal passes into the box. Lost their effectiveness by mid season last year. Thrilled the team signed Thiago to upgrade the central passing game and bring a new dimension to an attack that was looking stale post restart.

One thing I just want to mention, noticed Trent hit a few cross field balls to Andy on his left peg. Brilliant range of passing on both feet from that lad.

Enjoying reading all the comments on here as I work overnight in the good ole USA. I thought we showed Frank what's what today, including before the sending off.

I am really intrigued by the idea of Fabinho playing center back. I don't mean to kick Joe Gomez or Joel Matip to the curb, but the way Fab owned Werner AND contributed to the buildup with his passing makes the idea of him being first choice center back very appealing. It would make sense re midfield team selection as well.

But mostly I am so pleased to see our team, the team we had the past couple of seasons, outplay Chelsea for that first 45 minutes at their place, which brought about the sending off. This is a league winner even before the transfers in, and now we are even stronger. Let's keep it going and show golden boy Arteta how things are next week.

Great win yesterday, we won’t play an easier game at the bridge ever. Loved thiago’s display, some of the passes he was able to see and pick out had me in awe. Really happy for Alisson with the penalty save, great stop.

To the disgust of all the ‘experts’ in the media this team is going absolutely nowhere, in fact it’s only getting better! Up the reds

I gave the MOTM to Fabinho because he was excellent. They targeted him but he was so intelligent. The only issue with him is his pace.

Mane and Firmino combined well. Mane back to his best. That is why we are excellent because if they target Salah as they did, they leave Mane and vici-versa.

It was a red card and very soft pen. Well done Alisson to save the pen.

Fantastic result, even with 11 men, we had the game under control.

Fab superb, if we dont get another CB, no need to worry, hes there if needed, having 3 cbs injured like yesterday is very rare anyway.

Despite only coming on at half time, Thiago had 75 completed passes, more than any Chelsea player, he also touched the ball 89 times, again, more than any Chelsea player.

      Nice.

delighted with that but fair play to the chavs, 10 men. goal keeping howler and missed penalty and they

To be honest game was won at 2-0 if we left second gear we’d of ran riot and hit them for another 2

Think Lampard changed his tactics and decided to just sit back after we scored our 2nd too, because if they carried on playing the way they were it would have ended up about 5 or 6 nil. He said in his press conference that they were "unlucky" because if the keeper hadn't have made the mistake and they'd have scored the penalty it would have finished 1-1, which I thought was a bit of a reach to say the least. If the keeper hadn't have made the mistake then they'd have still sought out an equalizer with the score being 0-1 and I've no doubt we would have punished them with a second soon enough

yeah Lampard is fast becoming the coach I like the least in the Prem, just a miserable snide git, we played them off the park yesterday and they were basically set up to minimise the scoreline. For him to doubt the red card is just silly, it was about as clear a red as I've ever seen, there is no doubt Mane reaches that ball. The penalty they got was incredibly soft, I still dont; understand where the foul was, or is it illegal to brush past a player these days?

All in all a superb performance from us and I have us as firm favourites to retain the league.

His cockiness is starting to do my head in. Fair enough you can't knock what he achieved as a player but as a manager he's a no mark who has been handed cushy jobs off the back of his reputation. I'll laugh my head off if this Chelsea team doesn't click and he gets the boot

The penalty, am I blinded as a red or did Werner go down with no contact? Couldnt believe var looked at a possible offside but not a possible dive

I agree, there didn't seem to be any contact at all, so Werner is basically a diving little sh*t, I think we swerved well on that one, he's a pacy player but I wasn't that impressed with him yesterday to be honest, Fabinho a make shift CB had him in his pocket all game!

Went a little bit unnoticed due to the red card but that pass by Hendo to Mane that proceeded it was a beauty. Not easy to hit a straight aerial ball like that but he executed it perfectly. Anyone know about his injury?

I thought Werner looked lively to be honest but his team mates weren’t on his level. It was a penalty too. I hate penalties like that but in the modern game it’s a penalty.

Agree Fabinho did a job on him but Werner was the only chelsea player who could take any credit after yesterday’s game in my opinion and from what I saw, he will do very well in the prem. He was basically a one man team up against the best team in the world yesterday.

Thiago may have brushed him but yes he was looking for it. Never a pen for me and and I’d have said the same were it Salah. In fact Salah went down early under the same amount of contact in the box and the red told him to get on with it.

Said before the game we need a CB but really the way Fab played back there that doesnt have to be a big money signing. I still think it would be nice to have one but I wouldn't go spending a ton of money on it. Whoever it is may only get the cup games and a few league apps.

Werner was Chelsea's best player alongside Kante. You could see why we wanted him: pace to burn, links up well, drops deep to help build the attack.

Offensively he was their main threat and the way Frank Pulis was playing he was basically going at it alone up front.

And this is what, his 2nd game in the EPL? Chelsea got themselves a very good player, those bas**rds.

I thought it was a penalty, I also think Werner should have been booked for simulation.

Watched it again, and I really can't decide if we were that good, or chelsea were that bad.

They basically gave us 2/3rds of the pitch and hoped to counter down our right.
It was only a matter of time before we got goals.

If that was a pen on Werner, there were 2 fouls in the box that should've been pens for us.

      Quote from HamannsTheMan
Unbelievable performance and a fantastic result. I know it’s cliche but that was a true champions like performance.

Before kick off I was a little bit nervous. I thought fabinho playing in the back four would cause us problems in midfield and we might get over run. But we controlled the game start to finish and it was just pure dominance.

Absolutely buzzing with that performance. We were exceptional. Well done reds.

I've no issue with Fab playing CB, he's done it before without any problems. Thiago showed why we bought him. We've finally found a replacement for Xabi! Well done to Allison also for saving his first penalty for us.

Always great to win at Chelsea, but I think we went there at the best possible time, facing no fans, several opponents injured/unfit, others not up to the job of playing for them, and we got our 3 points.

We've scored 6 goals in our first 2 games in the past 3 seasons, winning 6 points each time. We set out to put 6 points on the board before our main rivals kicked a ball, and we've done it. Now we wait a week to see what everyone else can do before we play again.
