      Villa Park hosts the Champions

Adrian starts in goal for Liverpool in this eveningā€™s Premier League encounter with Aston Villa.

A shoulder injury sustained in training has ruled Alisson Becker out of the contest, so the Spanish ā€˜keeper deputises at Villa Park.

Diogo Jota begins in attack in the absence of Sadio Mane, while Jordan Henderson is named among the substitutes.

Starting XI: Adrian, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Jota, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Henderson, Jones, Minamino, Origi, N. Williams.

Without stating the obvious  that is a bad one for a GK just hope the two week rest is enough

Shoulder is a nasty one as Mo will attest to.

Landed on my shoulder last year during preseason and was told it was a grade 1 ligament tear. Still struggle with certain movements/exercises. Thankfully Alisson has the benefit of slightly better medical care.

Itā€™s a good enough starting lineup. Everyone knows what theyā€™re supposed to do. Even for our new guy, heā€™s familiar with pressing. We can win this.

      So thatā€™s:

      Alisson
      Matip
      Tsimikas
      Hendo
      Ox
      Thiago
      Mane

All out of action. An early test of our squad depth.

Bench looking a little bit light and this is obviously why. Good to have Hendo back at least.

Just come on(not menstrually) noticed  Ali missing is it his shoulder ? Heard he hurt it in training, good test is this, Villa stronger than last season but then we are too, except we are without Mane & Ali, kind of gives them a wee mental boost, but they will need more than that to get the better of us,

We will miss Mane and the threat he provides but Iā€™m looking forward to seeing Jota in a role heā€™s not unfamiliar with, like Robbo, I think heā€™s better than we think + JĆ¼rgen will get more out of him playing in his system, anyhoo, this is not a easy match by any stretch and Villa will test us no doubt about that whatsoever, which is making me a bit nervy if Iā€™m honest,

Last season they parked the bus if I remember and weā€™re missing a couple of key players, so be interesting if they come out and play tonight, I hope they do, we could see a goal fest if they do.

On the plus side, Ali wonā€™t be involved in internationals!
Nor Sadio, Still pretty confident of three points, as long as we all do what we go best.
Theyā€™ll park the bus I expect, but we can muster an early strike, they will be chasing it and we can cut them down 😊👍🏻 Come on you mighty red men !

Me thinks that might have been the ā€œplanā€.

The price paid to keep him from the Brazil squad is to not play him against Villa.
