16 goals conceded in a 42 game season, Jesus Christ I never knew that. I've always thought the Chelsea team of 04-05 only conceding 15 league goals was one of the greatest achievements in English football but I had no idea we only conceded one more in a season with 4 additional games. An even better record when you divide goals by games played!

Ray Clemence was a top class keeper for the club, unfortunately they are few and far between. It will be nice to have Alisson Becker fully fit once again.

      Its not even debatable.

The clubs greatest us debatable Kenny would be battling with Stevie with Billy Liddell in the discussion.

Greatest striker debate would be almost impossible to agree on.

But greatest ever keeper.....Respect to Brucie, Pepe, Alisson but in the modern game nobody compares to Clem with possibily only Elijah Scott from a different era comparable

Surprised Clemence only got 58% of the votes Brian. I can only put it down to one thing!! We must have plenty of young members on here who never saw him play.

My fave keeper of all time. Not just what he achieved,
but also the style in which he done it.

Ray is without doubt our greatest ever keeper, in fact I'd argue he was the best England keeper too and i include Banks,

Shilton as good as he was, was always seen as the FA's blue eyed boy and im sure it always had something to do with where he was brought up,
Ray was your typical working class rags to riches hero, from the North and that never sat well with the Toffs at the FA,

Ray was not only a brilliant brilliant keeper he is a proper gentleman and is so humble, just watch the reception he got from the Kop on his first return with Spuds, I haven't seen anything like it since, that's what he meant to Liverpool fans and he should always hold that respect, his appearances & honours speak for themselves, he is a true Legend in every sense of the word.

      God Bless you Ray Clemence.

Get well soon,  You'll Never Walk Alone

League only. He kept a clean sheet at home in the European Cup campaign, but that only lasted one game.

Playing wise, I only remember him from his Spurs days. Maybe he just had his best years here, because I didn't think he was that special for them. After he left, we put 7 goals past him the following season. And many more would follow.

Grob replaced him, and he also had a fantastic career here. But he was error prone with numerous high profile incidents. One of them was the derby at home, when he let a Ratcliffe backpass crawl underneath him. He says he couldn't go out after it. He was lucky it didn't happen now, otherwise he would get the Migs/Karius treatment.
