Busy news cycle during the break between CoVid news, transfer rumours and club business dealings, but it's good to have a match on the horizon.

Feels a little extra this one after our last result and the Blues good start to the campaign.

Was nice to see pics from training on the official site that included Thiago, Sadio and even Joel Matip. Fingers crossed that everyone returns from Intl duty with healthy knees and healthy lungs.

I'm really bitter going into this match, and I'll should still be bitter when we kick off.

I'd like them to come & have real go at us but suspect they'll play cagey and try & catch us on the break as usual.

With this in mind, think Thiago should start, if fit.

We'll need to be extra sharp with the high line as they'll be looking for James to ping diagonal balls behind the full backs; hope Hendo or Gini is tasked with giving him no time on the ball to hurt us.  Let's see how sharp his distribution is with Reds snapping at his heels.

Always a tough match at Goodison with very few goals; don't see that changing despite the ridiculous number of goals being scored in the current environment.

1-1 or  2-1 victory the most likely results, for my money.

      NB: Team no longer available

I saw Matip back in training, I would play him against Everton and rest him for Ajax.

I would play Henderson as well too.

      I guess we'll see.

A bit dubious with Adrian in goal, otherwise think we have enough strength to out play the bitters on the day, in particular with Henderson seemingly back in the side.

Sticky blueshite toffees as always will be a battle,  even more so Carlo has them properly organised and are a real threat, they will be up for this more than ever, in their blue shitty eyes they owe us more than one and Will believe that this time they will have the bragging rights,

However,  they are up against a very wounded animal who apart from Alisson should be close to full strength, this is a tough one to call but i think Jürgen will right the wrongs aka Villa that will see us back almost to our best, blueshite have had it good of late but they haven't come across quality like us,

                                     Adrian

                   Trent   Fabinho  Virgil Robbo

                        Henderson   Wijnaldom

                                       Thiago

                           Salah                Mane

                                        Bobby

      Back to winning ways

Stinks that this one kicks off less than 60 hours after internationals for England and Holland (and Portugal) end.

Not much more time between kickoff and last night's Brazil match, with a much longer flight added.

Does Everton have players out in international duty? sux for us with Bobby half a world away.

Playing at Everton has been a tough, low scoring game for a while and even though they are considerably better and able to try to play a proper game against us, they are likely to play conservative as usual. With Adrian in goal i cannot see a clean sheet for us, so i'll go for 2-1 Reds.

Made some decent signings in fairness Alan is a good player liked him at Napoli no doubt about it will be tough and need to see a reaction . Going to be some interesting selections Fab hasn't played a minute of internationals so expect him to play surely Thiago will start if fit and Milner with rest could be surprise inclusion

Robbo, Gomez, Trent, Hendo all left out of starting lineup for international games today. Van Dijk and Wijnaldum starting for Holland vs. Italy.

Diogo Jota starting for Portugal vs. Sweden.

Actually Andy Robertson is not listed among the subs for Scotland, either. Should that worry me?

So, I bought a bar of dairy milk and they've got a premier League competition, enter the barcode online and get a prediction and if it's accurate you win tickets etc and this was mine:

With my luck and given nobody can, I'll win tickets to a match.

Love it, good luck Ian  :)

I have no idea how this game will go.
Usually I would say a tight game, 0-0 or 1-0... but with two dodgy keepers playing in a season where anything goes it could be a 4-4 Classic again.
If matip is fit I would start him as Gomez has dropped in form lately.
Thiago as well could be useful picking the ancelotti machine.
I’m also hoping for a firmino big game man of the match. He’s not been firing lately either.

      My prediction....
      2-2.

Yes. Scored two, just like Bobby.

That should for putting all four of Bobby, Diogo, Mo and Sadio in is an interesting one.

      Maybe.

Maybe swap Sadio and Diogo. I know Sadio can play on the right but not sure about Jota.

Also I think if Hendo is fit he plays from the start. Was thinking Fabinho at center back. Glad Joel is back training but not expecting him to start quite this soon.

But there are a lot of options for Jürgen, so we'll see.

No doubt that Everton look a much better side these days and I'm sure without their fans on their case they've probably never had a better chance to get one over us.

Bobby got a few for Brazil, although he was not playing as deep a role.  Think that might make him take his chances now he has found the net again. The players better be up for the battle because that's what it's going to be.

      Im going by 2 theories

      1) Apart from Spurs on day 1 they have had a handy enough start, winning games you would expect them to win

      2) After the humiliation v Villa our lads will be even more determined

No matter what 11 goes out I see us beating them

The sh*te are a very well organised side so far this season but let’s be honest even on there best day they are still the blueshite and we are LFC.

Both were in the training video yesterday. I'd be shocked if either are not in the starting XI.

p.s. Reminded from that video on the official site, when Thiago finishes his playing career, he could make a mint doing videos on technique. The boy is just tremendously skilled.

Honestly don’t get the hype around them at the moment just because they’re top. People saying how great they look and discussing whether they can genuinely challenge for the top four.

      They’re F***ing sh*te.

They played spurs first game of the season who were miles off the pace. They weren’t prepared. Taking nothing away from Everton they can only beat whats in front of them but spurs were awful that day.

Then they go to palace and play sh*te. They came away with three points because var gave them a penalty with this new stupid handball rule. It was never a penalty.

Then they play West Brom and were losing at one point. Kieran Gibbs gets F***ing sent off like a dick head and Everton put a few past them and win.

Then they play brighton and looked fairly good. But Brighton are sh*t.

So out of their four league games they’ve played two teams (both at home) who will be in a relegation fight. Palace who will finish bottom half. And tottenham who were extremely sluggish in their first game. So I wish everyone would stop shagging their arses.

Yeah they’ve had a decent cup run too but they’ve played F***ing Salford, Fleetwood and F***ing West Ham who didn’t even have their manager with them.

Now that’s out of the way, I’ll talk about us. Normally going into this game I’d be full of confidence. We’re a million miles better than them at the end of the day and will beat them 8-9 times out of 10. That said, after that disgraceful performance v Villa then who knows what’s done to our confidence. I’ve got a feeling fabinho will be in the back four for this one and only time will tell if it’s the right call or not. I suspect not, but I also thought it was a mistake at Chelsea and we completely dominated. I just think in a derby game especially, he needs to be in that midfield.

      Adrian

      Trent
      Fabinho
      VVD
      Robbo

      Thiago
      Hendo
      Gini

      Salah
      Bobby
      Mane

2-0 to the reds. Smash these lads, they’re F***ing awful.

Very important game, vital that we get something out of the game. I mean we are not exactly in crisis but the 7 goals are still fresh in the mind. We have to get behind Adrian. I mean Robbo and VVD have made bad mistakes so individual mistakes happen.

Gone off that Carlo bloke anyway. So we need to be fully wound up and hit them head on.

Squad looks to be in very good spirits. Jürgen always builds a great atmosphere among the group - no small benefit over a long season.

Be absolutely delighted if Hendo, Mane and Thiago all available.
Wonder how covid affected the two lads - you hear how it can affect people who are fit and healthy, randomly.
      They seem to be OK.

I know it won't happen, but here is what I'd like to see for this one.

Hendo restored at CM alongside Thiago as a double pivot.  Both players have a good range of passing and do the necessary work defensively to keep us solid.

Drop Keita to the bench and bring Jota in as a #10 with Mane restored to the LW position.

Have Robbo and Trent focus a little more on the defensive duties.

Don't try to play the offside trap every time the opposition counter -- just make sure we get men behind the ball and get into a better defensive position.

Keita's got the 'rona hasn't he?  Henderson and Thiago and Jota as the three has definitely got a lot of potential - not something I'd thought about before.

      If you’re playing Fifa maybe.

Absolutely not for a competitive game of football though. Especially in a derby of all games.

Why?  Our front 3 defend better than almost any/every other forward out there.  If we tell Trent and Robbo to stay home a bit more, there's definitely room for another creative, attack minded player in there.  The way Jota drives forward with the ball and attacks defenders think he'd make a cracking #10.

Just saw the video the club put out from Thursday training. You can see Gini and Virgil come out form the locker at the beginning, but they head off in another direction, probably to do recovery after playing full matches for Holland. Jota and Neco Williams probably were involved in that as well. The rest were involved in rondos to open training. These included:

Group One: Henderson, Milner, Trent, Robbo, Gomez, Thiago, Sadio
Group Two: Fabinho, Bobby, Mo, Joel Matip, Adrian, Shaqiri, Origi
Group Three: Curtis Jones, Nat Phillips, Harvey Elliott, Kelleher, Rhys Williams, Minamino

Big derby really. We need to get back to putting in a performance resembling football rather than silly boys basketball for this one. It will be a scrap like they always are and we need to be up for the fight.

Recent history at Goodison tells us a win isnt the obvious result but we wouldn't want to lose this, especially by a wide margin like Villa.

If we can beat them then we can start putting them back in their place, but a win for them and theyll be 6 points clear of us and their first cup final of the season already won. I'd take a draw and start building again to getting confidence back in the side. A low score against would be a good outcome.

Adrian a real real concern for me. His distribution is a shambles.

Excited to get back to playing games but will definitely be a challenge against Everton. They play us tough at their ground as it is and Ancelotti is a good coach.

I don't think Naby was going to start anyway. Expect Thiago, Hendo and Gini in the middle. Milner and Jones on the bench with Jota and either Taki or Origi, plus Gomez, Neco and Kelleher.

Not sure Gini starts, hes played twice for Holland this week

Fabinho whilst travelling to Brazil didnt play against Peru

I'd think Fab, Hendo and Thiago starting with one of them being hooked for Gini on about 70

Klopp said he sent a "very long" text to the players after the Villa match. He doesn't normally address things in that manner but with everyone gone on international duty, knew there were things that shouldn't wait 10-12 days to be said.

I would love to see the text of that message (although nobody else should see it).

Fabinho wont play CB for me listening to Klopp unless he has to in terms of no senior cbs fit
Gomez and Matip are fit so I just dont think Klopp thinks of him at cb

Then out of those two I'd go for Joe for the following reasons

Klopp wont want to hang him out to dry and dent his confidence further

Matip hasnt played since the derby first game back since lockdown

Joe kept a clean sheet with England last time he played and also has trained up against Calvert Lewin for 10 days

As for Milly, I'm just going for him over Fab in this cause can you imagine how Hames Rodriguez is going to enjoy his afternoon having just flown back from south America with Hames Milner chasing him around for 60 minutes like a dog after a treat

Go on Milly, rat that pr**k for 60, introduce him the the Merseyside derby

Wouldn't be surprised with Milner should be fresher than most . Gini on the bench for me

Agree mate, Gini has played a lot of minutes over the international break, Milly has been bored and thinking of smashing the blues for a fortnight

Agree on Joe over Joel at this point. Hopefully he does revert to good form because he was pretty poor vs. Villa (not the only one, mind).

I think we'll see Fabinho from the start, but as always, time will tell. Good to have proper options and all that.

Bite your hand off for a dull as f**k 0-0 here.

Nah would never think that against anyone never mind the current champions against a team who have  never beaten us in 10 yrs and if the players think like that we will come away with FA

      We are a wounded animal.

An animal that will devour those toffees tomorrow.

Everything tells me at Goodison, early kickoff and after international break tells me this will be a dull 0-0 affair.

It would be nice to start off this insane run of games with a good showing after that dismal display.

I’ve gone for 3-2, can see a sluggish start, maybe concede the first, which will wake us up and we’ll get going, and score three, then maybe give away a silly goal towards the end to give our hearts a good workout.

Think it is important to get the defence right today, our attack will do the rest, give the toffees another licking, in their own back yard.

      Right its here, come on

Coleman missed this week for Ireland through  inury so I expect Mane up v Kenny. This added to VVD dominating Calvert Lewin is why we win this. And unless Ancelotti changes his system a bit Robbo and Trent could get a lot of space to create problems

      3 0 reds f**k it

No team I trust more to bounce back than this bunch of players. I just really really really hope Adrian performs. F**k all the Everton hype and them getting carried away with a few wins, they’re not a scratch on us. I’d love nothing more than to burst their bubble

We're better than them in every position and all things being equal should win but will be one of our toughest games of the season.

I'll miss this one due to work so will have to follow on here

It's mad that the thing I remember most about that goal is the 'tink' as the ball bounces off the bar.

I remember shouting at Virgil..what the F**k was that V...turned out as a great assist.. 😂
