      A side discussion about grammar
      Nov 01, 2020 11:32:07 am
The slow reaction to the virus in terms of locking down a month to late is about Johnno ignoring solid scientific advise and more about him caving in to his selfish backbenchers.

Johnson's next book should be.."How not to handle a Pandemic"...

Forword by Dominic Cummings.." I did it my wayeee.."

      * Prepare by running down PPE stocks
      * Go round shaking hands with Coronavirus patients
      * Fail to join Europe wide PPE procurement scheme
      * Hand out PPE and Track & Trace contracts to ill prepared companies
      * Lock down a month late
      * Let a mate off with breaking restrictions
      * Unlock and lead everybody together in a free food stampede
      * With a second wave fast approaching do a pic 'n' mix your in, your out policy
      * Short change workers in the North
      * Cave in to pressure from backbenchers, letting virus take it's toll
      * Finally take action and lockdown..a month to late.

Be a bestseller for sure..this is what happens when you put a clown in charge and give him to many balls to juggle.
      *

Please try and get “to” and “too “ correct it’s really grating. Example: I am going “to” the supermarket. I got there but I was “too “ late. The government were “too “ late locking down. Sorry for being so pedantic it’s just a pet hate of mine.

Bit harsh that mate (( condesending ))  as it's certainly not intentional with spelling mistakes by members. I too!! get mixed up with certain words.  ie - there-their to-too you are- you're etc etc.  Unfortunately not everyone is blessed with a good education through no fault of their own.

"No Billy, we say...Miss may I have a pencil...Miss there are no pencils..may I request a pencil..we have no pencils..and so on Billy.."

Billy.." Well whoose got all the f***in' pencils then.."

Didn’t mean it to be harsh or condescending just a pet hate so just pointed it out. Only education I had was a comprehensive school, never took any exams, finished school on the Friday and down the coal mine Monday.

Your grammar very good then considering your passed. Some people pick it up better than others that may see it as a little patronising. However, your intentions are obviously good then.

I've been guilty on many occasions of lazy spelling as I don't always check it before posting.  :f_doh:

      Anyway back on subject.  ;D

Not many are but obviously a good standard.

It's a forum.Shouldn't be double checking every post just in case I didn't put the apostrophe in the wrong place. I get enough of that being married to a teacher.

For your second sentence to make sense you should either eliminate the word, "didn't" or replace "wrong" with "right."

I'm joking, I hate pedantry. It makes me think of old Tories who haven't had an orgasm since 1973, who write to The Telegraph to complain about blasphemy and insults to the monarchy.

Only thing I disagree with in this conversation is this

Everyone in this country is blessed with the chance to get a good education

You still have the same opportunity from the education side

Yes some parents are cu*ts, but we have no excuses in this country, we have opportunities that billions around the world would die for , its up to you what you do with it

I agree the opportunities are there but many parents don't have the motivation to push their children. Like you say cu*ts, sad but true.

My best subject in school seemed to be arithmetic, which just about sums me up. I try my best with spelling and punctuation. Not everyone is perfect, it is case of do your best.

The “I didn’t want to be condescending but I will quote the forum user and point out his poor  grammar in the opening post of the thread I will start about poor grammar.”

      Uber c**t move.

It’s a football forum with people to discuss and talk about football from all walks of life. Don’t like it don’t read it or look away.

      Yes.

Utterly pointless thread, just created to try and get a rise.

And on that note, keep discussions on topic.

If you disagree with a poster just say so. We don't need a page of posts discussing grammar.
