37 Central Defensive Pairings

Read tonight that Jürgen has fielded 37 Central Defensive Pairings since arriving in Liverpool, with Matip and Gomez being the 37th. while it surprised me that those two haven't played together before, I wonder if we can list all 37 pairings.

Was thinking Steven Caulker but probably more likely he was part of a pairing at the other end of the pitch, seem to remember Jürgen throwing him on as a striker in a few games.

Amazing how we played a back three of Lovren/Can/Wijnaldum and also Henderson/Gomez together before Matip and Gomez ended up getting a game as a pairing!

Don’t think so mate, pretty sure all of his appearances for us were late off the bench and flung up top for his aerial presence.

Stand corrected just remember him attempting to defend their 4th goal . Only 28 now playing in Turkey I think

Caulker may have played one game as a defender from the start, after that Fulham match maybe. But we are still well short of 37.

Good list. Morgan Boyes started alongside Van den Berg in the League Cup last year. I think the 37 includes Cup matches so, with this list you can see how it gets to 37 over time.
