Their keeper today is Frasier Forster, played for Celtic I believe

Very good on his day too. Fully expect him to play a blinder.

Saints are a good pressing team so defence & midfield need to be on it when in possession.

They've been generally good throughout this season, but are in a poor run of form, not winning in their last 4 prem matches & only scoring once.

We need to be sharper with our finishing & final ball, so let's start the new year as we mean to go on.

A hard-fought victory on the cards for me.

      Let's go reds!

I would like Tiago to start and set the pace of the game for us, doesn't need to play a full 90 but hoping by the time he would be off the pitch the job should be done.

Think this could be a riot for the team after recent performances, expect us to win comfortably after Klopp has probably set the tone all week in training.

A great opportunity for the boys to show the rest of the league who the top dogs really are.

      I'd be happy with that.

With Vestergard out Saints aren't a threat aerially so no need to play Phillips.

We will need the whole world’s help if we fail to collect three points tonight. As usual. As if we aren’t good enough to bounce back and desperately need reinforcements. I’d throw a fit and make silly demands and changes if we go winless in three games. ;D

But let me repeat. This is a must win match - for that added assurance.

Being honest, I wouldnt go for it, think Thiago could do with being held back until around the hour. But I think its something the gaffer might go with

Their first choice keeper is out so I fully expect their stand in keeper to have the game of his life before disappearing back into obscurity.

and some struggling striker to score his first goal in the calendar year ;-)

In all seriousness I think we'll smash them, if the lads are not 100% focussed and motivated for this game, after the last 2 subpar games and with both Manchester clubs now breathing down our necks, then we really do have some issues.

Jürgen seems to have Ralph's number,we have won every game he has been in charge of them,i can only see one result tonight and a good performance. Good strong start,no slow sideways and backwards passing, start as we mean to go on.We are due a penalty and some goals,Salah to get a brace,COYR.

Continuity is the most underestimated cause of success!

      Ali
      Trent-Phillips-Fab-Robbo
      Hendo-Thiago-Gini
      Salah-Bobby-Mané

Thiago is in because he's god-like, but the rest just shall get more mileage. I also hope Jürgen will bring a guy like Shaq early enough to make a difference (60-65min., not later).

I hope not, also I wouldn't like it. Give Phillips more mileage to improve. This dude can be a good CB - not like VVD or Matip - but very close to Joe. But how many minutes did he play so far? What do we expect? Give him more opportunites!

Lots of speculation that Hendo & Fabinho will form yet another cb partnership, can’t see it myself irrespective of whether Thiago starts or not, in my honest opinion Hendo is better served in a more forward role rather than going back, Vestergard is out for them so the aerial threat has diminish somewhat, for this reason I doubt Jürgen would weaken his midfield so soon after retaining some much needed strength & creativity,

Saints despite their inconsistency still remain a major hurdle and can deliver a kick in the nads if in the mood, so we need to be on it from the off, there is absolutely no room for complacency whatsoever or we could pay for it,

At the moment without Virgil, without Joe we need to field our strongest possible side, and apart from Matip and Jota I think it is this...........

                                                           Alisson
                                         Trent   Rhys   Fabinho   Robbo
                                              Hendo    Thiago       Gini
                                              Salah     Bobby      Mane

I can see there been plenty of goals, and lots of nervy bits here & there, in the end though if we’re at it I can see us grabbing the win.
