United are not that good and that'll show as the season goes on,average defence, average midfield (apart from Fernandes) and only Rashford their decent striker. We will smash em on the 17th when they park the bus and try and hit us on the counter.

Disagree mate. Wan Basikka is a really good defender, McTominay is solid, and Cavani will be a threat late in games this season once he's back. They have the best counter in the league this season and Fernandes is the best player in the league IMO. Losing Gomez and VVD hasn't hurt us defensively as much as it hurts us on the link up play. Kind of wierd.

We will beat them if we find our form. All I'm saying is they are good and right now they're getting all the breaks. That wasn't a pen

They won't need to be good the amount of dubious penaltys they get

I watched a few of their games this season and i agree with you they are getting the luck but that will run out as the season goes on,i don't rate them or their manager, the only way they will win the league is if the season continues the way it's going and no team stands out but i think City and us will eventually put a run together,a lot of if's and but's but form is temporary and class is permanent.

Bloody garbage, how the hell did he score a hat-trick against us?We have to be up for it against the saints on Monday or risk the Manc s**t being above us on the 17th as their rearranged game vs Burnley is on the 12th.

I don’t think my heart would cope with a Liverpool/united title challenge. That last three seasons have aged me about 20 years.

Southampton won’t be easy. This is one of those games where we need to actually turn up.

      Variety of reasons.

Luck: while United get a lucky deflection in the 93rd minute against Wolves, we get the opposing keeper making a fingernail save to keep a winner out, like against WBA and Newcastle.

      Injuries: nuff said

VAR: The Mane goal against Everton says it all. Meanwhile, United get every doubtful PK called on their favor.

Form: Fernandes, Cavani and Rashford have carried them all season and continue to do so, while we have Jones costing us 2 points, Salah missing sitters left, right and center and no one else stepping up.

      This 100%.

And I believe all of the above will to a 180 over the next few weeks.

We have let them believe their in it.Come the 17th we will be well up for it and Thiago will be up to speed to open up their dodgy defence putting them on a plate for Salah and Mane,we are top yet haven't hit anywhere the heights of last season with all the injuries and VAR against us,how many other teams would be in our position if they had to deal with all that,no one because we have Jürgen.

Southampton is a must win, if not to tell the Mancs just who’s boss, but also to get the confidence back in the side.
Dare say our lads will be up for this with a bit more determination, and hopefully a desire to try something different to mske as breakthrough !

There's been a perfect storm no doubt about that. All started in the Everton game and things have snow balled from there really.

I still can't believe we are in a position of having 0 first team CBs available.

They have had more points in the league since Bruno joined than both us and Man City which I guess is a compliment as both teams on paper are better than them.

Sorry to say but Bruno has transformed them. Not just with penalties, he scores plenty from open play too. He is a very good player. Rashford and Greenwood are also talented.

They have also been better than us beating weaker teams and away form.

We are at home and that should be automatic favourites. But no crowd could make it more competitive.

Yeah. I love how with our record we are out of sorts and struggling for form and confidence. Another team with the same record is a juggernaut full of belief and on the verge of breaking away in the title race (with only 22 matches to go). :)

Agendas and narratives. Everybody's got 'em.

Reading through this board, I got convinced that the mancs do have a world class squad. Edison, Bruno, Wan, Harry, Ole, Carrick, Phelan etc. We have much to do and a lot to close the gap. Neck and neck with the same number of points. It’s gonna be tough for us. We’ve got to buck up. Makes me more afraid of losing the top of the league now.
