Xherdan Shaqiri starts for Liverpool in this afternoon's Premier League clash with Manchester United at Anfield.

The Swiss international is named in midfield alongside Thiago Alcantara and Georginio Wijnaldum as just one change is made from the Reds’ last top-flight outing at Southampton on January 4.

Joel Matip misses out as he works his way back to full fitness, so Jordan Henderson begins in defence.

Shaq's an interesting one, I don't think he's one that will knuckle down off the ball as well as Milner or Ox would have but he's much better than the others on the ball so let's see.

Ffs lad, don't be so defeatist,  your giving up before a ball is kicked, it's not ideal but i understand it, more solid at the back with a bit of flair from the midfield,  under the circumstances it's probably as good as it gets at the moment!

All set pieces are dangerous to us nlw, even goal kicks.

Thiago in, which is a big plus, Shaq we need a bit of the little man’s magic! One thing for sure, Hendo will give 110%. Sick of the press lauding Man U and basically writing us off, let’s show ‘em we are still the real deal. COYR.

Well with Hendo on the pitch, we stay organised with his verbals.
Worried about Shaqu. Either he doesn’t have the stamina, or he just doesn’t get back quick enough.
And as good as he is on the ball, he often tries to do to much, gets boxed in and loses the ball.
Will he be in the Center or on the right ? If he’s on the right he’s gonna have to cover Trent, unless the tactics have changed 🤷‍♂️
