JFC, there's the entire 2nd half of the season left. How can you possibly give up already? FFS.

The attack is the issue. Firmino, Mane and Salah need better competition/cover. They brought Cavani in, we had Minamino or Origi to bring 🤦‍♂️

      We brought in Jota.

Nothing to do with a crappy patch,i honestly thought we would be signing at least 1 CB maybe 2 in this window,we have no fit CB's and our best midfielder is playing there. Jürgen needs CB's to compete with City, city would be buying at least 1 if they were in our situation. Jürgen has worked wonders this season but the risk is there of not finishing in the top 4.

Another clean sheet and we need a CB, do we?

So we go abroad to buy one. Great, now what? 2 week quarantine period. That's 4 games he's out for. And we're still keeping clean sheets. What's the point?

We're playing crap atm. Boring, slow, square, sideways rubbish that is not getting us anywhere. The forwards can't kick snow off a rope, we've had an average of 2.5 shots on target per game, over the past 4 league games. That's just not good enough with all the possession we have, it's about time we did something useful with it. The title isn't gone, but we need to win more games. We have two main issues. 1. No Goals, and the more serious one, 2. No Chances. They're not issues centre backs are known for solving.

We have Thiago back. We have Shaqiri back, we have the 2 full backs fully fit and available. So get those crosses in and create those chances, so we can score the goals, win more games, and go back on our perch. Then the biggest issue again will be if/when Wijnaldum will sign a new contract.

Your a newbie on the forum  ;D The lads & lasses know I'm a manc. I don't hide behind usernames, you get what you see.

It's not rocket science, City and Liverpool have been the best teams over the last 2/3 years. The only reason your struggling is that you don't have a fully fit  first 11 to chose from. More importantly you can argue couple of them are world class players.

I'd argue almost any team would lose form in such circumstance, espically VVD. The team will get back to winning ways,  $64,000 question is just when. Only problem is the longer it goes on obviously the harder it gets.

Let's not forget with all what's gone on in 2020 (( and still is )) teams are all lacking consistency. Granted City now just sneaking ahead out of the pack and showing the best form in the league, well least in my book.

Some of you fans have already cancelled yourselves out not only winning the league but also top 4.  :o Beggars belief it's just plain crazy to do so. I've been around too long to just write a team off so quickly.

Your 3 points off the top and can't win the league  :o Serioulsy ?. United have some deluded fans but some of you lot catching up very quickly even though we have the bigger  fan base.  :lmao:

So basically, wake up, and smell that coffee, Liverpool not out of winning the league for a while yet.

So your saying city and us are favourites but then say we are struggling because we don't have a fully fit first 11. VVD won't be back until at least April, this season isn't like the last 2-3 seasons and we need at least 1 CB in to compete for the title or city lose 2-3 key players to injuries which is possible in a bizarre season.

It took him 6 months and an injury to Moreno, just to get him to finally play Robbo every week. erm no it is THE matter, they are not good enough hence why Jürgen is playing two midfielders as CB's, BTW that is two of our key midfielders, its equivalent to Utd playing Fernandes as CB or City De Bruyne. Of course that has a huge impact, especially when you have a manager who is utterly inflexible when it comes to tactics.

You go on to say that if you buy a player then you need to quarantine them for 2 weeks, erm ok, but so what, if we'd bought them 1st week of Jan they'd be available now wouldn't they, instead we'll have to continue to pray that Matip can give us a few games here and there and otherwise keep playing midfielders out of position, which may well work from a defensive pov but weakens our entire team in an attacking sense as our system is so rigid and inflexible.

I think you are both guilty of some bias here, Keith maintains we didn't have a single chance all game and Aussie is perhaps a little bit too generous. The truth sits somewhere between those two extremes but what is a fact is that Man Utd screwed up their best chance in ages to beat us at Anfield, its a tiny sliver of a silver lining as is Thiago growing more and more into the team.

If a player miskicks or scuffs a shot when in a good position do you count that as a good chance or is it only if it forces a save? If its the former then we had several good chances which should have in the very least forced saves from de Gea. Aussie is correct in that Robbo had at least two very good chances inside the 16 yard box which he messes up, first shooting wide and the second being s scuffed cross if I remember correctly, actually there was another half chance as well where he blasted the ball miles over the bar. Bobby had at least 2 good chances, one very good one where he got the ball from Mo and was effectively one on one with the keeper but completely scuffed the shot. His other chance was on the edge of the 16 yard box in a promising position where he shot it high and wide. Mane of course should have been one on one with De Gea if the Ref has not inexplicably blown his whistle early in the first half!

Ah ok so by your reckoning if a player is through on goal but scuffs his shot then it doesn't count as a chance, interesting, that explains why we disagree on this. I'm looking at it more from an xG point of view, ie how good an opportunity was it to score, irrespective of whether the player scuffs the shot or the GK makes a great save etc

Does anyone know where I can see the xG (expected Goals) stat from individual games?

Ah found it, and it makes for interesting reading with Liverpool have an Xg of 1.2 to Man Utd's 1.19, not much in it but certainly not as lopsided as Keith remembers ;-)

Centre backs against teams such as Burnley at home, are not going to have a lot of work to do, they just have to do it well. Fabinho is a defensive midfielder and an excellent centre back. I think the CB problem is part of the issue, you can't lose the best CB in the world and replace him with a kid or a player that was going to be sold hence considered not good enough to play at the level Jürgen requires,Fab is brilliant at CB but his absence in midfield is a massive loss and our other midfielders are nowhere near as good as what Fab does when he plays there, yes we are not scoring but it's not just up to the strikers, our midfielders scoring record in the PL this season is woeful,30 of our 37 goals PL goals have come from our strikers and that tells the story,Sadio and Mo works their socks off both defensively and offensively,i agree about Bobby he needs to be dropped as his overall contribution and game has been off for a while apart from a few games here and there. FSG should have bought Jürgen a CB at the start of the window as i'm sure Jürgen has a few targets but they are using the current climate as to why they are not,FFS Jürgen net spend is just over 20m a season so i'm sure he's due some backing now,yes there are no crowds but they is still the CL money,The PL money (the PL gave all the prize money out at the end of last season) the sponsors. There must be some excess money in the pot?You said no one is buying anyone but Utd just paid 19m which could rise to 37.5m for Amad Diallo and there wage bill and losses are bigger than ours,i believe no top 6 six club would continue using midfielders and kids to replace VVD when there is a window open.If FSG want a title challenge or CL football next season then they best put their hands in their pockets.

let's be honest here Keith,we are not very good at the moment and you are flying but on Sunday you showed what a small mentality club you have now become, the Newcastle with better players of the top 6 and you are arguing that you had the better chances,do you think Fergie would have gone to a top 6 six club and parked the bus when you were top and flying,no he wouldn't. The PL this season is a poor standard with a poor team at the top,Jürgen has worked wonders with the injuries we have had but i believe if we don't sign a CB we will struggle to be top 4,any top 6 side with no fit CB's would especially if one of them was VVD. The Everton game where VVD was injured was at the start of game 5, do you think Utd would be buying a CB in January if the boot was on the other foot?

Not at all mate I  like facts, it's just that you try and put words into people's mouths and sometimes twist things round.  ;D   Me stating we had the better chances doesn't mean it's lobsided in a big way as you put it.

So if a player hoofs a penalty over the crossbar then it's not counted as a good chance?

"Hell yeah" that's a great chance. Was there a penalty?

let's be honest here Keith,we are not very good at the moment and you are flying but on Sunday you showed what a small mentality club you have now become, the Newcastle with better players of the top 6 and you are arguing that you had the better chances,do you think Fergie would have gone to a top 6 six club and parked the bus when you were top and flying,no he wouldn't.

Not sure where we are going with this? Already stated United not a good team but just playing decent at the moment.
Already told you what I think of Ole. Already told you we should of gone for your throats. It wasn't me who got the tactics wrong it was Ole yet you appear to  blame me.  :lmao:

We did have the best CLEAR chances, if your blinkered enough to say otherwise that's your opinion but totally wrong.

Already told you I think you'll still make top 4.

You comparing Ole with Fergie?? Oh dear  :f_doh:  Of course he wouldn't. Already told you standard poor this season due to 2020. Why we going in circles??

      Let's move on...
