Liverpool 0-1 Burnley: In game and Post Match discussion
      Jan 21, 2021 07:00:26 pm

Anfield hosting the Champions under the night

      https://twitter.com/i/status/1352328958684127233

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Matip, Robertson, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Mane, Origi.

Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Phillips, N. Williams.

Joel Matip starts as Liverpool make three changes for this evening's Premier League fixture with Burnley at Anfield.

The centre-back returns from injury in defence in place of Jordan Henderson, who is ruled out due to a minor fitness issue.

Elsewhere, Divock Origi and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain come in for Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino as a trio of alterations are made to the team deployed against Manchester United on Sunday.

Kostas Tsimikas is back among the substitutes after a knee problem. Georginio Wijnaldum captains the side.

I really don't know what to a make of that selection.

The front 6, Thiago aside, is like a team we'd put out for a League Cup tie.

      Henderson injured then.

Personally would have went for Minamino instead of Origi but let's hope Divock steps up.

I'd prefer to see Shaqiri and not Chamberlain in midfield if it's 4 3 3.

Surprise all right.. where’s the skipper..? Not even on the bench..?

Bobby & Salah benched.. give them time to reflect on their performances..

      4-2-3-1..?

      GOAT leading the line..

Will be a penalty box game, so perhaps Divock seen as more dangerous for this - coupled with the need for rotation looking at the schedule.

A lot of you wanted changes - you've got them.

I totally agree with Firmino but I do not know about Salah. Klopp has balls. Origi needs to take this chance, it's now or never with him.

Not a huge surprise that Bobby and Salah have been dropped.  Mane's been the best out of the three of them but some of Mo and Bobby's finishing against United was dreadful.

Think he's more than entitled to drop them when Jota isn't far off a return.

Could be why Divock is in.

And as you say some on here wanted changes, myself included, and now some of them are moaning?

Not sure on Origi ill say that now.

Why would the armband go to Gini when hes F***ing off? Matip there as long and Robbo who captains his country should be ahead of him.

      Other then that....

The defence is as expected, hence why I said front 6.
We would never normally put out a totally weakened side in the cup (Mane & Gini) and Thiago has never featured in the League Cup.

      This.

I think Klopp is most certainly entitled to pick that team. Let's see what the Ox, Shaq, and Divock can do given the chance. I would liked to have seen Minamino but I'm happy with the team selected.

People wanted changes. They wanted Mo dropped, Bobby dropped, Matip back. They got their wish and still not happy.

Big shake up, but a response to Salah/Bobs recent form.
Jürgen being brave, the squad lads getting another chance.
      Surprised no Hendo.
Big game, need the 3 points.

It's not as weak a side as we usually put out in that competition.

If you look at the way we play, Trent and Robbo are always part of the  6 furthest forward.

In the midst of 7 games in 17 days - you have to expect some rotation, even for league games.
