The owners won't be showing the colour of there money

If they see the monetary value of the club dropping, I'm sure they'll react to sort that out.

      Nothing will happen.

We may have another summer, like 19-20, where we sign no one.

I won't hold my breath when it comes to these cheap c***s overhauling a squad.

They refuse to buy unless we sell and it's covid so according to them no ones buying or selling.

We should go all out for depay (we won't)

One all way through the spine CB,CM  who can play nearer front 3 , CF

      I'd echo this.

I think we need to be after a starting quality CB, an attacking, goalscoring CM and a centre forward in the Haaland mould.

Ideally with no one leaving but I've been thinking for a while that we might benefit from one of our  if name attackers moving on and a bit of a refresh in the way we approach the game.

Trouble is I love all three of the front guys and would hate to see one of them leave.

I can see us selling squad players like Shaqiri and ox and replacing them with free transfers like Depay and Draxler.

It all depends if players actually get sold. There might be no interest in origi and such like.

What needs to be done might not be what actually gets done.

I'd take both those cats on the free. Gini will go, Mily will go to Leeds, if we bring in quality on the free like those guys than Ox, Origi, Shaq get sold, Wilson too, and we will loan some young guys out.

Jones will play a lot more next season. Jota will walk into a starting role. Depending on how Minis loan goes, he could fall into the Origi role.

I'd see what the market is for Mane and Bobby. Both seem to have lost a step and aren't getting any younger. If we could get a good deal on one of those guys maybe we could buy a quality youngster.

I still say go all out on Grealish. Ultimately, he will be too much unless we sell Mane and a some of the other mentioned dudes. A guy can dream though, yeah?

I agree with needing a refresh up front but hating to see one of them go.

Ultimately it's business, and you have to do what best for the club. Its not as if we won't look back at them fondly. They brought us #'s 6 and 19, and were the first to be called world champs. For a year or two they were the best attacking force in all of football. I love all 3 of them, but ota prolly run its course.

Please allow me to say that in no way should Memphis Depay be allowed anywhere near this football club!

Good going. It took exactly 20 posts for someone to come in with the negative sh*te thats in just about every other topic about the owners.

Simple discussion do you think we need to overhaul the squad and if yes who do you think goes and who would you like in. Nothing more nothing less.

Irs getting very boring now reading through every topic being taken over by the same sh*te

      Players I would consider selling...
(I won’t quote what I think they will sell for!)

      Adrian
      Phillips
      Matip
      Grujic
      Milner
      Oxlade
Wijnandum (would prefer him to sign a contract but can’t see it now)
      Shaqiri
      Origi
      Wilson
Firmino (only if a top, top replacement is in line)

Possibly keita though I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet.

And possibly minamino if klopp dont fancy him.

      That would leave us with

      Allison
      (Reserve keeper)

      TAA
      Williams

      Robertson
      Tsimikas

      VVD
      Davies
Kabak (if we sign him permanently)
      Gomez

      Henderson
      Fabinho
      Thiago
      Jones
      (Another centre mid)
(Another centre mid if we sell keita)

      Salah
      Mane
      Jota
      Elliot
      (Another forward)
(Another forward if we sell minamino)

That’s how I see it... but even that is a massive overhaul yet probably the bare minimum of what needs to be done.

We will see. I always find the transfer window lately brings more surprises than not...

      Agreed.

I think Kelleher will be a good reserve keeper and the new kid we signed from Celtic is highly rated.

I think Kabak will be a good CB once he settles in. Davies will be decent backup. But we will need to sign another CB in the Summer as a potential first team partner for Virgil.

Midfield we will need a replacement for Gini which will possibly be Bissouma.

Shaq looks to be back in good health so if he can prove he can stay fit from now to June I would keep him another season.

Ox needs to move on as unfortunately he'll never get back to his pre knee injury best.

So we need to replace him also.

We will keep Bobby at least one more season but absolutely have to bring in a top centre forward in the Summer as a long term replacement.

So all in all we need 5 players in the Summer so looking at a £150 mill spend at least.

      Haaland around the 90 mark
      Draxler free
      Schurrs 20 million?
begovic/Stenklenburg/Fabianski all out of contract experienced keepers

Thats Ginis replacement, a striker, an attacking mid, a centre half and a back up keeper in

Gini's going to leave, and will be missed, don't think gets the credit he deserves.
Should still get some cash in for Keita but won't get back what we paid - think we need to cash in though, he's had enough rope and we've just not seen enough.
AOC aswell could be on his way, injured a lot and form this season, the few times have seem him, hasn't been good.
      Shaq too could go.
Hope Milly sticks it out for one more season.
Would probably hold onto Matip too as a 3rd/4th choice.

Need at least 1 CB - not sure if Davies or Kabak will make the grade given we need someone who can challenge Gomez/a fit Matip [nobody challenges a fit VVD]
Least then we start next season with ACTUAL CBs, and so Hendo/Fab back in the middle, which would also be great.
If Gini and Keita leave, be looking to sign a CM.

Up front, would be a big decision if one of the 3 lads left - but would be the only way a big name would come in. Would love Mbappe, probably not likely, and would be tough to loose one of the lads, but nothing lasts forever and we've made some massive signings [moves in/out] over recent years.

If we go out of the CL vs Leipzig, would expect this thread to get much busier...

I would Keep: Alisson, Kelleher, Trent, Gomez, VVD, Robertson, Tsimakas, Henderson, Jones, Thiago, AOC, Jota, Shaqiri, Firmino, Salah and Mane.

I would sell: Adrian, Matip, Milner, Wijnaldum (free release), Keita, Origi, Minamino.

I would loan: Neco and Rhys Williams

I would buy: 2 New CBs, a midfielder and a striker.

I'd sell Matip, Keita, Ox, Milner, Shaq and Origi.

Buy Schuurs as 3rd choice CB
Buy a tall powerful CF to give us some options, especially against low block teams, Haaland would be perfect.
A top notch AM in the Coutinhio mold, ie someone capable of bursting through a defence and scoring.

We have to remove a lot of deadwood, if we can't promote from academy then prob need a few more midfielders brought in, but don't need to be superstars, just young, hungry with potential.

Only one way to find out. It's not like we're having anymore kids. Sadly, they'd be more valuable to the club than the Mrs's.

      Good topic.

Think everybody can agree that the squad we currently have beyond the starting 11 isn't great & needs additions who will really push those starters. Alot of the names mentioned in this thread simply aren't realistic (Mbappe, Haaland etc) unless we decide to offload Mo & Sadio which would be criminal IMO. I do feel though that Firmino's best years are beyond him and that an out & out CF is the main area we should be targeting. How many times this season have we seen Bobby miss sitters? Who that CF would be I'm not quite sure right now...

RB is definitely an area that needs competition. TAA has always had his critics when it comes to defensive duties & this season his attacking has been pretty much awful. Neco is promising but feel every time the lad has played fans get on his back & that's no good for him. Allow him a good season on loan (like Elliott currently) which allows him to flourish whilst bringing in some experienced RB.

Sign another full back which could be cheaper than replacing gini.
