Nat Phillips hasn't had a bad game in the Liverpool first team. Discuss?

He's now at the point where the question on weekly selection is who partners him :)
      Fair fucks to the lad.
He's had to cope with a lot off the field never mind on it [new CBs coming in Jan cause we were so short on numbers and quality, Rhys initially ahead of him] and he's come through it all.
      Huge credit to him.
Bigger challenges to come in the CL, but can't ask anymore of him so far.

Ah so pleased with that result. Massive relief.
Even Naby looked sharp when he came on.
Too early to say corner turned, but we've at least inched partially around.

The problem is that he can't run. In a high line it's a disaster waiting to happen.

Gini had a great captains performance. Nat was outstanding again and Fab in the midfield again is just different gravy. All 3 were MOTM for me. Nice to have the feel good factor back tonight  :)

Confident in himself as well, doesn't shy away from a thing.

I voted him man of the match, love him.

      But........

Towards tge end when we needed calmness he charged out after a ball that he was never winning and lunged a bit, could havd been caught out of position or given a silly free away in a dangerous area.

Similar first half  he allowed  himself get dragged out to the right full position and split from Kabak when no real need.

If he learns that calmness and manages thd game that bit smarter hes fine

Anyone think either consciously or subconsciously the players have been done with the PL and have been saving themselves for the CL?

They are only human after all and I think there is noticeable difference between the performances in CL and PL.

No nonsense defender attacks the ball and heart size of a lion and done all that can be expected whilst filling in for the regular CBs will hopefully put him in shop window and might even get a few million for him

Yep spot on little reckless and follows the ball too much , hasn't got the pace or quality on the ball as others but done well

Position and understanding far more important than pace.

You could imagine him turning up in the pub during the post-match celebration, right?

But then someone would say "Hey Nat, you're in training. You shouldn't be here."

Then he'd be like "Oh come on mate, I'm just going to have one."

And you'd be like "No mate, well done tonight but we need you to be sharp for the weekend."

And then he'd be like "A round for whole lot of you, on me."

And you'd be like "Right! no harm in you having just one then...."
