Itā€™s not baffling to me, in fact it makes perfect sense, with a few players yet to return from their respective holidays we have anew manager who will obviously know who the players are by name and reputation, but thatā€™s it, he will want to learn a hell of a lot more than that,

So for me he will want to know their about, not just their footballing acumenā€™s, but their personal habits and how or what their preferences are, lots to learn , of course heā€™ll want to see them in action and see where if possible he could improve them before delving into the transfer market, no doubt there will be targets afoot but heā€™ll want to see fully what he has first !!

Thatā€™s all well and good but if you look back youā€™ll find that almost all new managers at big clubs make quite a few transfers in their first window at a new club.

I think unfortunately for Hughes and co theyā€™ve inherited a bit of a mess with three key players approaching the end of their contracts so thatā€™s taken priority. Hopefully it will all get sorted soon so we can make the transfers we desperately need to kick on from last seasons near miss.

Mods, could you let Corbally back on the forum, I'd love to have a front seat to him and LP going back and forth about transfers. THAT would be entertaining.

FSG thread would just be hashtags.

      #FSGOUT #FSGOUTNOW

Thatā€™s all I can see on Twitter so on here would be no different.

      Ignore the new stands.
      Ignore the new training ground.
Ignore the young talent coming through the club.

It would all focus on FIFA style transfers all the time.

Pearce has that no right player in the market line in his drafts. He dishes it out every other year and the fanbase has a meltdown as a result

You mean the clueless tw*ts. Some of us aren't arsed what Pearce spouts.

Guessing he's from football 365/TeamTalk. Every f**ker out there wants to use our name for clickbait. From Ben Jacobs to Francois Plateau to IndyKalia to Grizz Khan to Jac Talbot etc. Is there anybody out there besides Joyce who knows anything?

Why is it a bit of a mess, and itā€™s not a priority sorting out contracts from Arneā€™s perspective, like you said those contracts will be sorted one way or another, while the contracts are still active, there is plenty of time for negotiations,

Arneā€™s priority is to get the squad he inherited up to speed in readiness for the new campaign, additions will come forthwith once Arne has recognised where he feels will need strengthening, as for other managers at other clubs that would depend on the situation a manager faced, and yes possibly they would sign new players, but thatā€™s not the case with us,

We already have a squad capable of hitting the ground running, albeit minus the three who left last season, one being a goalkeeper of which we have ample cover already in situ, the other two who were well past their respective sell by dates, and we have a  potential replacement in Sepp for Matip,  Thiago and his quality will of course be more difficult to replace, but we faired reasonably well for more or less the whole campaign without him anyway,

Getting back to players contracts in their final year, I donā€™t think for a second that those players will not sign new deals, so for me itā€™s not much of a issue as some seem to think, I have no doubt whatsoever that those looking after these kind of things are aware of the situation and will act accordingly, keeping thingā€™s in house and not for the prying eyes of the back stabbing pot stirring fuckwits of the media !!

Arsenal are killing it!!  Calafiori and Merino would have been great additions to our side in positions we need to strengthen....  I hope we don't leave it so late that we miss out on the right targets and end up having to wait until January or next summer....

The prob is he wonā€™t change from his favoured 11 , he had smith Rowe and just flogged Odegaard, same with Nketiah and flogged Saka etc etc

Even in pre season he is also just going with his favoured players

Playing Odegaard for 95 minutes last night was ridiculous.

Chasing a friendly instead of giving players minutes.

Spurs apparently in for Solanke at around Ā£60m.....

I think we may have had a sell-on clause with him, so could stand to gain something like Ā£8m-Ā£10m from that if it goes through.....

Also, I see all contracts at Bordeaux have been cancelled due to their financial situation, so if there is anyone we like at their club, we should move quickly....

I would like Hincapie, Ederson and Bakayoko very very much. To me that would represent the perfect summer (well in terms of our transfer business anyway). Isn't Miguel Delaney supposed to be 1 of the more reliable fellas out there too?

If itā€™s not being reported by Paul Joyce I donā€™t put much stock in it. Pearce is somewhat reliable but by the time heā€™s reporting it itā€™s already done.

The Ornstein chap also seems to get scoops  as well although I donā€™t think heā€™s right as often as some others do.

For me the Times and the Independent , I guess outside the BBC and Sky, are 2 of the better tabloids on football related news. Joyce from the former and Delaney the latter/

Paul Joyce hasn't uttered a word about us all summer, what we we supposed to do with that!!  :lmao:

Well...that's the point, we aren't doing anything if Joyce is quiet. Delaney is good for general news (i.e. Man City's 115 charges) but for transfers he's pretty sh*t.
