Even £70 is ridiculous for what is essentially a T shirt but that's where we're at nowadays.

Compare it to NFL and F1 merchandise and it's still pretty reasonable to be honest but for an adult wanting to buy it then I don't have much of an issue.

My issue is with the kids pricing as I can only imagine the struggle parents have to kit out a couple of kids with the new gear

The prices aren’t great at all - modern commercial football

Greedy owners trying to enhance their wealth together with Nike. A kit is a kit - fabric plus printing. Profit margins just get fatter. But if we don’t support the club and the club doesn’t buy players, here we go again about them not spending on transfers...  :f_steam:

That’s the catch 22 though right? We want a big transfer budget but then we turn around and want low prices for the kit (which we make most of our money on as a percentage of sales).

The whole Nike deal was bad business IMO because we should have just negotiated a bigger initial outlay instead of banking on our popularity and banking on the idea that people would shell out big bucks.

      Agree mate.

I've no really issue with the adult stuff as if grown ups want to get fleeced so be it

Just think a bit more could be done on the kids stuff. Maybe not? But I'd like to think so.

      I agree.

      Make the kids stuff cheaper.
Indoctrinate them as much as possible, as early as possible.
It will reap benefits in the years ahead.

      Long term thinking.

Is that for the regular replica or the more expensive one that's meant to be an exact replica of the matchday shirts (materials etc)?

More than likely at that price I'm guessing.

      The cheek of it.

That concept doesn't work in any other form of life.

Essentially they're saying "you want a replica? Ok take this overpriced shirt". So you pay £70. Then they say "oh you meant you want a replica replica. Ok take this even more overpriced shirt" so you pay £104.99.

Want a curry? Here's one for £10. Oh you meant you want an actual curry ok that'll be £35

If they were around £30, £40 max, I’d be tempted each year, but while they are the prices they are, I’ll just carry on using DHGate to buy the £12 replicas of the shirts that take my fancy.

The fans are treated shockingly, I just feel sorry for Parents who have 3 or 4 kids and they all want the new kit, how the hell do you afford that.

I don't buy them these days but was curious to see what they charge and on the offal it's £160 for the men's matchday jersey and shorts (£90 for an infant). I would think that's gone up by about 300-400% or so in the last 20 years. Madness!

Yeah imagine telling your son he can't have a jersey because £50 is out of your budget as a parent

Waiting for the FSG brigade to turn up & justify the kit prices as its monies generated towards transfers blah blah blah..

Stopped buying a few years back, however, my birthday is in August so I get my Sis to get one for me, but only if I really like it, so might end up with that yellow 3rd kit but definitely not that monstrosity cream effort and most probably not the home kit with f***in pink !!

      I don't buy them anymore.

I get given them as gifts, but I just hang them on the wall in me man cave.

When I look at them it's easy to see the "modern" vs "retro" cycle that comes and goes.

Fcuking marketing bullshit that gets on my nerves.

I actually think the trim is red but because it’s sitting next to another shade of red it can look pink or orange depending on the lighting.
