Anfield waiting for another stunning comeback

Starting XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Phillips, Kabak, Robertson, Fabinho, Milner, Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Adrian, H. Davies, Thiago, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jota, Tsimikas, Shaqiri, B. Davies, R. Williams, Cain, Clarkson.

Liverpool make one change for this evening’s Champions League quarter-final, second-leg tie with Real Madrid at Anfield.

Sadio Mane returns to the starting line-up in place of Diogo Jota in the only alteration made to the side deployed from the start against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Justice for the 96Liverpool Football Club will pay tribute to the 96 supporters who lost their lives at Hillsborough, during Wednesday's match against Real Madrid at Anfield.

On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the tragedy, a minute’s silence will be observed prior to kick-off to remember the 96 fans who died as a result of the events that occurred at the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on April 15, 1989.

No Jota or Thiago just seems absolutely bizarre.

Well another set up I think is wrong but the Boss knows best . Can understand Jota in a way but Thiago would be a shoe in for me instead of both Milner or Gini

Was at the weekend wasn't he?

No Jota or Thiago just seems absolutely bizarre.

Possibly, mind you don't think either of them particularly excelled in the first leg, but then nobody did.

I'm sure they will be involved tonight at some point.

Maybe they are part of some kind of second half blitzkrieg.

Good luck reds.  Monumental mission this and I rate our chances as about 5%!

Milner instead of Thiago. Shocker for me.

Bobby in makes sense, Jota out does not.

It's an old school pressing midfield. Expecting a quick start with that team. Shock and awe without the repulsive neocon connotations!

We will score 5 or 6. I feel it in me bones.
      Mane will smash it tonight.

Once Madrid start chasing the game we will pick them off.

If we concede early we will win 5 or 6-1.
If we score early it’ll be more entertaining, 6-2 or 6-3.

On a side note, saw the wonder goal scored by that polish kid. He reminds me of mcmanaman.

No Thiago or Jota, hard to understand. Going to need to see a completely different Mane tonight. Maybe Milner is there to help out TAA on the right defensively, or possibly Jürgen wants his leadership/experience (over Thiago).
Can't understand Jota not starting, feels a bit like Jürgen reverting to type.

But fuckit, don't want to put a downer on it, really want to give this our best shot, and if going out then at least go with a half decent performance.
Early goal would be ideal, settle some nerves, get back in the tie.
If they score obviously it becomes a bigger ask.

Watched PSG/Bayern last nite - these stages of the CL is where you can see the best football of the year.
Really hope we can go out there and prove everyone wrong and keep ourselves in the running for silver.

Very conservative team selection. I was hoping to see Bobby in midfield with Thiago and Fab, and Jota up front. I suppose it gives us attacking options off the bench. Regardless of selection, the main thing is to come out of the blocks with intent. Do not want to see a first half remotely like the first half in Madrid. If we are going out, let's go out fighting.

No creativity in the midfield. Milner? Really? In a game of this magnitude?

Same back four that got terrorised last week - actually wouldn't have minded seeing Fab back there for this one even though we know he is  better in midfield. His calm head at the back is needed when we pretty much need a clean sheet or we are out.

Jota on the bench is very strange too. Alot of pressure on Mo. He seems the only player in this 11 capable of scoring right now. Mane and Bobby need to step up.

Worried with the team but hopefully Jürgen knows what he is doing. Klopp masterclass (3-0) incoming 🤞

First thoughts I agree but on reflection could be wanting to keep it tight then go 4 2 3 1 early second half.

With Thiago and Jota against more tired legs than from the beginning.

Not sure its how I would have went but what do I know? ;D

Just seen the team, confidence has gone through the floor! Jota first name on team sheet for me, we need goals!
However Jürgen is the manager, we have to back him, I just hope if things are going pear shaped he changes things before 70 mins!
I’ve got everything crossed that we can do this, think a bit of alcohol may be needed, needs must!
Come on you Redmen, fight for it!

No idea how Gini keeps starting with his current situation and form. Think we also possess more intensity when he’s not in the midfield.

I’d be raging if I was Thiago. 3 games in a row on the bench.

Sorry lads, hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see Gini and Millie combo in the mid creating anything much, not even a hard press.
I hope we can do this, but that lineup, despite all the talk, looks like Jürgen has thrown in the towel on this one.
Just can’t see us getting any control in midfield.
Hope I’m eternally shocked by the outcome, but I won’t hold my breath.

      So sooooo dissapointed !
Was really looking forward to this, but Feel quite deflated now.

Disagree with the pessimism re the line up. Pressing is key against Real.
