Its the right judgement, Eufa & Fifa are corrupt, needed to be taken down a peg or 2.

Cant see the English clubs joining any future version of the super league soon, but maybe in the future the option is there for them all to do their own thing and patch Eufa\Fifa.

Today's proposal is 64 teams, top league of 16, then another 16 and 32 team bottom league. There will be promotions and relegations. The bottom 20 teams could drop out completely to be replaced by 20 teams from around Europe.
No teams would be exempt from relegation.

I'm not for or against currently, the details are to vague. If it reduces the power of FIFA it's a very good thing but it could also become a rich man's plaything with top clubs getting bought up by PIF and other billionaires.

The crucial thing for me will be FFP regulation.  If this new league is set up; will the governing body be more effective in enforcing FFP than UEFA? Or will that be binned and owners can throw money at their team.

Another issue for me is global warming and sustainability. We all like to watch Liverpool play Real, Bayern Munich, Juventus, etc but I do get concerned about teams and fans flying around Europe more and more to games.

At the moment none of us fully understand the ifs & buts, we fans/ supporters are the mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed sh*t,

It’s a good thing that FIFA/UEFA’s monopoly is being challenged, but at what cost ?

It’s sounds like the money men of Real M, Barca have been sucking FIFA’s dick cos the no longer hold sway in European football, the EPL being the biggest & best league on the planet, with the biggest and best players, many years ago it was Serie ‘A’ and look what happened there ?

It would definitely kill off the CL. As we know it, and be replaced with something bigger, and again it’s no bad thing to have a alternative to FIFA/UEFA, I guess tho all it means is one corrupt body replacing a existing one !!

Absolute non starter. I doubt the clubs will attempt to go against supporters again.

For me nothing has changed since this reared its ugly head first time. The day the club signs up to a esl or is owned by sportswashers is the day I turn out the light. For good.

This new format is still absolute sh*te.

Leicester in 2016 for example would have been rewarded with a place in that bottom league. It's a joke if the Champions of the biggest league in the world can't even qualify for the top ESL league. Similarly if you are absolute sh*te in your domestic league (think Chelsea) then you can keep your place in the top ESL league as long as you finish 14th out of 16 teams.

The new CL format that's coming is awful but still a long way clear of anything the ESL has suggested.

I think most on here see this for what was then, and what it is now...Greed. It has nothing to do with football. This is football as a corporate smoke screen, with ad hoc bureaucrat's hoping to cash in. These people think we're all stupid and will buy into anything our clubs are associated with...but we are far from stupid and can see clearly, and act collectively, when we are being exploited.

There is an inescapable irony in UEFA/FIFA taking the moral high ground and telling us football is not for sale, but however hypocritical and flawed they are as organisations, would we rather play in established competitions which connect us to our history and preserve some sense of continuity, or chance our arm with a scheme dreamt up by the likes of Florentino Perez and the dodgy guy at Juventus (Agnelli)? It is a tawdry money making exercise and nothing more.

Is there a reason why we have not come out and made a statement ? Now Arsenal have, we are the only club of the English teams who have not yet made a statement.

Have no doubt this will happen in some form or another.

Not this time though as it's too close to the last attempt and fans will still block it

I'd expect a statement of some sort from the club today

All these statements are worthless at the end of the day

They mean nothing if Saudi suddenly offer them £10bn each a year etc etc - clubs will fold and jump out of the UEFA comps

We all love our clubs...the history, the shared sense of community etc...but scratch the surface and we all know Football has become a sh*tty industry. Long gone are the days where it was the working man's game, it has been reduced to an overinflated media investment vehicle, like the Hollywood film industry, it's own sense of it's worth is exaggerated....Look at Barcelona now...they'e like an old second division team, yet their heritage keeps them ranked as a top club.

The fans want the big name players though

Come the window what will everyone be demanding- big money signings , for the club to renew big contracts for Salah etc

      None of that comes cheap

Fans can also take some blame in it - the sport stopped being a working man’s sport the minute it sold itself to Sky

Not really up to speed on this, but are we the only Club out of the original 6 not to indicate their opposition to it.

They don't need to say anything, just sit back keep your powder dry and watch the room.

It's all a con...Big name players are manufactured by the media...How many of those "Big" names justify the label?...Do we really have the appetite you say for the big names?....I'm not so sure..look at Quansah or Slobozlai 6 months ago few had heard of them...But the big names....ie Mount or Caicedo prove to be mediocre. It's all hyperbole, smoke and mirrors....see it for what it is; a few blokes kicking a bag of air around a field.

Don't be facetious, the broad point is many/most so called big names are created in the media for it's own sake. Supporters, those people who watch games and understand it, support the club, not any specific player, regardless of their often deserved status. If clubs are stupid enough to go down the path of recruiting so called "Big" named players, like Man U. and Chelsea have in recent years.... then that's their loss...evidently.

Im not sure a super league will happen at any time soon. Fans won't have the funds to be flying around Europe week after week. well perhaps a few, but most sides will have little away support and that will be the final demise of football as a supporter sport.
Playing to half empty stadiums is what we have in the Saudi leagues, and players there pretty pissed off with it, advising others not to follow.

Cant see this super league ever taking off to be honest.
