Ali the difference and MOTM, one moment of madness but some superb saves.

Good to win but not that many signs of encouragement there.

Really need Kabak fit for Thursday.
Yeah we still look a bit delicate but hope to f**k these 3 points give us a massive confidence boost.

So we can actually do this - if Leicester city lose one game and we win all ours then it’s down to GD which is relatively close.

West Ham still in the mix

LC look like dropping a couple.

Well we let them come on to us s few times which was scarey. Especially first half, but all in all a deserved win, and three points.
Nobody was particularly poor, lack of pace perhaps that caused us problems, but have to go with Ali for motm.
Mabey not 100% but certainly kept us in it.
Well done lads, onto the next one !

Thank goodness for that! We're still squandering too many good opportunities, giving away silly fouls, giving away possession too easily and looking defensively frail at times but I'll take this result for the next four games. We go again.

I still hope, but we haven't put more than three wins together all season. And we were so sh*t in that second half tonight.

Hes a shout for motm but if he remains in our top 4 choices as a serious team were done. Too slow and not great at passing the ball. Tried to forceca ball thtough a southampton player to feed Mo like the player was a premonition

Not really - it wasn’t the most exciting and they had a few chances but solid 3 points.

Re top 4, I think we'll need 12 points to stand a chance given the fixtures West Ham have and the fact Leicester will get to play United's kids on Tuesday.

I don't think we'll get 12 points but stranger things have happened that's for sure.

Thiago MOTM by a mile for me, some lovely disguised passes, put in the yards and finished off the game with a beauty when we'd been on the ropes for abar 20 mins. There was a spell of a couple of minutes in the first half where he dropped into the 6 position and started pinging the ball around like Xabi Alonso and he actually looked like the player that was at Bayern. He did well at 8 but he never looks as commanding a presence there as he does at 6. He runs the game from 6. Not from 8, though he did well today.

Not exactly an inspiring performance by the side as a whole. Hanging on at home to a Southampton side with the worst form in the league?

I don't understand how a team that hasn't played for 2 weeks can run out of gas with barely an hour of the game gone. Our pressing was a joke. You've got massive Southampton centre backs taking the piss out of our front 3. See the ball, see the ball, see the ball, oh dear, Ward-Prowse has got it now, bad luck lads. If that's as much effort as the front 3 (or front 6) can muster then we might as well just give up pressing at all, forget the high line and just play on the counter. We're hanging Phillips and Rhys out to dry asking them to play up to the halfway line when we can't put any pressure on the ball whatsoever.
