I think we will be more of 3-4-3 going forward now, trent mostly in MF, but roaming. Just means robbo is sitting deeper more often now :(

Will only work against the dross even against average teams like Villa we were outplayed for big chunks of the game.

And truth be told Trent has been awful defensively as a RB, like he just doesnā€™t want to play there.

Was always the case and he will float as he did during the end of the season

I think Trent will be out main RB next season as well and we'll see a combination of him playing more orthodox when needed or in the new role against the vast majority of the sides where we've most of the ball.

Could still buy another RB/RCB as well though and move Matip on

Complete shambles of a signing from start to finish. A books balancing exercise and nothing more.

Out on loan at Preston and il be shocked if he ever plays in the first team here. Expect a permanent move next summer.

Last summers shambles that set us back years is slowly being moved out. Too little too late.

On a side note we have nothing at Right back ... with Trent doing his thing in midfield. And don't throw calamity gomez in there. An L shaped peg in a round hole.

A total mess. With what we have and nothing to spend and no help from our parasite owners counting their cash in boston I think JĆ¼rgen needs to at least consider going 3 at the back. 343 or maybe mirror city's 3241.

Get your feeling mate but wouldn't think the signing of Calvin is the reason for our woes. He's one who if he comes off great if not it's not the be all and end all. I hold nothing against him particularly given his struggles with injury. Very few players signed in that sort of bracket end up being like Robbo. That's the nature of spending money on players. On average the better ones cost more money.

If Nunez ends up being a bust than you can sound the alarm, but not for a kid like Ramsey. It's not like he was supposed to come in and walk right into the starting 11. It's not like we paid 30+ mil. This was always going to be a kid who would take some time.

Ah damn. Well, he either gets stronger from another setback, or it throws him. Let's see what he's made of....
Either way, best of luck to the young man....

      Ryan Lowe, Preston NE manager.

On loan Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay is another absentee for Preston, having suffered an injury setback in August and not kicked a ball for North End yet. Ramsay has been undergoing rehab with his parent club, but Lowe expects to have the Scot back at Euxton next month and believes he will still have a big impact on PNEā€™s season.

ā€œWeā€™ve had some good news on Calvin,ā€ said Lowe. ā€œHe is at the back stage of his rehab now. We are in discussions with Liverpool and hopefully heā€™ll be back with us in the next couple of weeks. We are not going to rush him back but if we can get him back in the building with us in the next couple of weeks, we will. Once heā€™s at the end stage of rehab and passed all the protocols, ticked all the boxes, heā€™ll then be with us. I havenā€™t got a definite date just yet, just that weā€™ve had some conversations with them in the last few days and it is looking promising. He just had a reoccurence in his knee; a bit of a setback but nothing major.

ā€œI think it was the right thing that Liverpool brought him back to strengthen him up and make sure heā€™s right. I have spoken to Calvin numerous times and he canā€™t wait to get back going. He was supporting the lads at the Birmingham match and had pre-match with them, so we need to make sure we keep him involved and around the boys. Now, when he does come back, heā€™ll come back fitter and stronger than he was. I think it was probably too soon for him to come to us, because he was champing at the bit to get out and stamp his authority down. There is no disgrace in that, trying to get into a new club and perform. He is still a quality player who will definitely help us when heā€™s back.ā€

Sooner he gets over these niggly injuries the better, hes a cracking player, just needs games now.

Liverpool have recalled several players from loan over the past fortnight, and thereā€™s a distinct possibility of them doing so again in the coming days.

Fabio Carvalho, Rhys Williams, Owen Beck and James Balazigi have all seen their temporary moves culled, and a potentially calamitous body blow for the Reds may prompt them to do the same with another loanee.

As noted by the Lancashire Post, the knee injury to Trent Alexander-Arnold could spark LFC into recalling Calvin Ramsay from his loan spell at Preston North End, particularly with the Scottish youngster having already faced an ā€˜uncertainā€™ future at Deepdale.

Indeed, Lilywhites manager Ryan Lowe had even admitted recently that thereā€™d been a possibility of the 20-year-old going back to Anfield ever before the news of todayā€™s hammer blow regarding the Liverpool vice-captain.

READ MORE: Pep Lijndersā€™ comments on Liverpool duo hammer home their status within JĆ¼rgen Kloppā€™s squad

Given the dearth of senior full-back options currently available to JĆ¼rgen Klopp, and Ramsayā€™s struggles for game-time at Preston, itā€™d be very foolish for Liverpool not to at least attempt to recall the right-back from his loan spell.

The Scotland international has played just twice for the Lilywhites all season, his involvement largely curtailed by injuries and illness (Transfermarkt), and Lowe has effectively stated that he has no intention of dropping Brad Potts from his preferred XI any time soon (Lancashire Post).

Therefore, the 20-year-oldā€™s prospects of getting game-time at Deepdale are slim, and even if heā€™d face a similar situation at Anfield, at least having him available to call upon would allow some breathing space in terms of team selection.

It helps that Ramsay didnā€™t play in Prestonā€™s 4-0 defeat at Chelsea in the FA Cup last weekend, so if Liverpool were to recall him, heā€™d be eligible to feature in the fourth round tie against either Norwich or Bristol Rovers towards the end of January and could give Conor Bradley a breather.

It seems a no-brainer for the Reds to try and call time on the Scottish youngsterā€™s loan spell in Lancashire, particularly after the seismic body blow to Trent.

      GET HIM BACK.
